Do you know how I can change the format for the decimal place-holder in MS-Excel? Presently, the place-holder is a comma (,) -- this is extremely inconvenient when trying to work with data sets in multiple applications (all the others use a period). How can I change the decimal place holder to a period (.)?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSince the installation of Lion the decimal point isn't working alright. Not in the calculator and not in Numbers.
1. For instance when I type 1500 in the Calculator the displays says 1,500. That's not correct, in Europe it should be 1.500
No preferences in the calculator to change it. It worked well with Snowleopard. In system preferences Decimals is changed to ",", thousands is "."
2. Numbers. When I type 123456789 in numeric field it's changed in 123.456.789
If I change the last four digits to 2233 and accidently forget to change the points the point stays on the same place. It will say 123.452233 The same if you add a digit 123.456.789 will be 123.456.7892233
This worked well in Snowleopard.
I searched here and know of the mac pro cuff-pro and some other attaching thing that goes under the desk from ikea, what ones to include the ikea one (link possible?) and the cuff-pro could someone recommend to hold a mac pro either to the side, or bottom of a desk?

View 4 Replies View RelatedEdit: Clumsy me, of course I managed to break the battery holder (the little metal thing connecting to the + of the battery) Any chances of fixing it without replacing the motherboard or such? Every time I disconnect the power cord from my 2008 Mac Pro the system time is reset and my key-chain starts fuzzing (I have to re-enter my e-mail password). What could be the problem and what solutions are there? I'm thinking maybe it's the battery but I would like to hear from someone who knows a bit better, that is you lot , before I try to correct the problem.

I want to know if they need to be specific to the type of hard disk/laptop or if they're more of a one-size-fits-all type of thing. The hard disk is a solid state type that I installed in a mid-2010 model MacBook which has now failed. I want to connect it to a 2005-model PowerBook G4. Can this be done and what do i need to buy to do it?

It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?
1. Turned the List Manager on by accident in Excel. Can't figure out how to turn it off now. I am using Excel 2004, and a MAC mouse - so no right-clicking for me...
2. How do I move columns in Excel? I select the column on top, but then try dragging it to a place I'd like it to move, but nothing happens. How do I do that?

I am really struggling with the weather part!! I need to somehow pull the temp and if its snowing or raining from the internet into excel. I have all the addresses and zip codes for each property. I was thinking i could write a formula that looks at an RSS feed or website (like yahoo or Google weather) based on the zip code of the address. I could also write the formula that pulls the weather to excel then VLOOKUP the zip. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I am not sure what to do!!

They had assured me of compatibility at purchase citing the new open format. The MAC Excel 08 file won't open on the MAC on which is was created with their Numbers program either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I send my .xls files from my Mac (Office 2008) to my boss's Windows machine (Office 2003), he gets an error message when he attempts to open the excel spreadsheet: Excel has encountered an error and must shut down. I've sent files to other computers and not had a problem, and my boss has received other excel files and been able to open them. So it must be something between these two machines/softwares that is affecting it. Any suggestions or ideas? I can add any additional info you need.

I have had some work done by a provider in elance in PC excel 07 and now i can not read the spread sheet in my MAC environment. The provider is saying that MAX and PC excel versions are 100% compatible - I disagree and need to know the differences but I am not tech/program savvy.
For example: I have a music folder in the music folder are about 200 or so Artist folders looks like this: Music -> The beatles, Pink Floyd, The Killers, etc. Is there a way (without manually typing or copy/paste each one) to get all the names of each folder in text?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my 24" iMac connected to a 22" LG monitor via an Apple mini DVI to VGA. The best resolution the monitor will run at is 1680x1050 which I guess is the native resolution.
My problem is that there is a black line at the bottom of the screen, and I can drag windows of the top of the screen by about the same amount as is missing of the bottom. What can I do to get that bit of screen to show up in the right place?
I have just purchased my first mac! A refurbed iMac! and I now want to move my music files across onto it. I am very pedantic and would like my HD to be as tidy as possible. My question is: Where should I place my Music Files on the HD?
1.) Should I create a music folder within the HD Music Folder and allow iTunes to copy/duplicate the files into the iTunes Folder? (Selecting the options via iTunes Preferences).
2.) Transfer the music files directly into the iTunes Folder?
Or something else? What method do you guys use to store your music files on the HD? I intend to have some sub folders within the main folder to separate Albums and individual artists or tracks I have downloaded in the past etc. Finally, If I use the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" option, will my tracks be renamed? As I intend to name/keep files names in a format I prefer.
I'd like to be able to sort my downloads folder by Date, but have other places in the Finder sorted by Name. Is there any way to do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedYou read it right. If the air deflector is in place it won't boot. No gray screen. The power light comes on but it never gets to the chime. I hear a click and possibly the disk start to spin and then nothing. I reset the PMU and the PRAM but it didn't help. If I open the panel and take out the air deflector it boots fine. Once it starts I can put the deflector back and it runs normally.

I have a 120GB SSD that I boot from and would preferably like to keep this as free as possible. I have all of the Jam Packs and would like to install these now but can only seem to be able to select the boot drive to install them onto.
I have 2 1tb Caviar Blacks with nothing on right now.
Do they have to go on the boot drive? They will fit if need be, I'd just prefer to keep the boot drive less cluttered.

However, lately after I shutdown my macbook and start it again, all the folders and files on my desktop move and scatter. I want to keep them in the same order that I originally arranged. How do I keep them in the same place? Is it normal for them to move around after shutdown? I don't want to sort them out by name or date modified or anything like that. I just want to keep them in the same order that I put them.
