5/24/08 Mac Mini G4 1.42 Processor 512MB Memory 80 GB Hard Drive Platform 10.4 LimeWire will not load. She was using program and then it stopped loading. Her solution was to download LimeWire again and install. No luck with that. Also can not get other P2P filesharing programs to load after download and install.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to load Windows 2008 R2 on a brand new mac mini server. I have a USB DVD burner hooked up with the 2008 DVD inserted. I hold down option(alt) and then choose the CD to boot off of. It then said hit any key to boot from CD, I do, then I get a black bar across the bottom that says loading windows files. That bar take a minute or so to completely go to the right, and then the process does not continue any further. I don't really feel like I should need to use BootCamp to complete this as I only want to use this as a 2008 server, and I want 100% of the hard drive capacity dedicated as so. Secondly, does anyone know if I will have the opportunity to set things up to use the two internal drives in a striped RAID 0, and still boot from them?

Some while ago I loaded MS Office onto my mini. After that I start to get strange "'a's in a box" characters in webpages rendering Safari unuseable. I started using Chrome. And this worked. I have just bought Family tree maker; that uses windows that are images from the web, and the problem is back.

My problem is that.. I can watch some of the material,
but when trying to stream the actual games, it just says "loading".
My Mac Mini has been running slow since I upgraded to Leopard several months ago. It is not Snow Leopard. My Mac Mini is running software version 10.5.8 and my processor is a 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 with 512 MB RAM. Am I running slow since my Mac Mini is intel? Should I switch it back to Tiger or is there any other suggestions you can make. I have run the disk utility and have run the repair permissions. The computer is especially slow on Safari where it is faster on my MacBook pro.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI booted up my Mac Mini last monday to find for some reason it is stuck in that loading screen which displays a grey background, the apple logo and a round loading swirly sign. I have tried running disc utility and trying to repair it but it dosent detect any errors, I also tried clearing the PRAM according to Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM and still no joy. I've done a total reinstall of OSX and went through an hour and a half of erasing and reinstalling osx from its supplied discs, however still it wont get past the loading screen.
I've used a usb hard drive aswell and tried installing osx onto that to see if it was a hard drive error but it still gets stuck at the same loading screen. I can access safe mode without a problem. I have done numerous hours of searching the web without any luck to a cure to my specific problem. Specs are Mac Mini 1.66GHZ intel duo core 2, 1gb ram, 10.6 OSX (upgraded from 10.5) 100gb hard drive I have also started up in Verbose mode and got alot of info that I don't really understand, I've attached screen shots of where the loading screen gets stuck in verbose upon 4 attempts at booting up the mini.
Just bought a new MacMini(my first Apple PC) and when I open mail I get the brief details of mail received but when I click on the message to read the details I get a "loading" sign but the message is not displayed. I have 2 different mail accounts.

I don't use limewire but this guy at the Apple store told me that its very bad for macs. He said to imagine a mac like a spider web and limewire like a stick messing it all up (Interesting metaphor huh? He looked just like Buddah too) So does anybody know how Limewire is bad for a mac?

I learned on the internet that the only way to get around this was to buy Mac Leopard and I'm not about to do that for Limewire. So I thought I would take another route and try to install an older version of Limewire and get around not having Java 1.6 that way. I downloaded Limewire 4.18.8 from this web page: [UR:] . When I open the installer on the computer, I click "Continue' on the first page, I choose to install the application on my hard drive, I get to the Install page, and click "Install." It then tells me: "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install."

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am Having some issues with Safari (I am using 4.0.5), if I open up a website the screen stays white like it normally does for a sec to load a web page but the loading icon keeps spinning and spinning and spinning....... until I click the "X" stop icon and reload the web page. As soon as I click the reload icon the webpage loads up instantly, it is getting really annoying and would be great if anyone has a fix. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen frequently and then be fine for a few web pages and then start up again.

View 11 Replies View Relatedso i havent used my ibook in awhile, so i ran all of my system updates (had to do it like 3 times...). i then opened my limewire, and it asked if i wanted to update, i was on a roll so why not?
i updated, restarted my computer and now when i try to open it it says
"this application requires java 1.6 or later, but only the following java versions are installed:1.5.0, 1.4.2, 1.3.1, 1.5, 1.3, 1.4. updating to a newer version of mac os x may resolve this."
i know i can update os x, but that will cost me $129!

Okay I'm thinking that my iMac 20" (a1224) has a virus after I started playing with Limewire...When I press the power button the only thing I receive is the Apple logo and the spinner below it as if something is about to happen but it never does. I even let it sit overnite hoping for something and no results. I purchased the computer from some random so there is no disc.
