I just bought it for 2 days in uk! Suddenly the keyboard not working just like it be locked!but the function key like F1...F9, Control, Backspace, shift still can be used!Except Caps Lock, and number, and alphabet.Is that any keyboard locked function i touch? I am going to crazy now!!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...
Just recently the music control keys (the function keys 7-9) aren't working, all the other function keys work. The music control keys do not work even if I am in iTunes or if I set it to use function keys as standard function keys then try to fn use it. I just updated to Yosemite on Tuesday, I have turned my computer off twice since then and I restarted it today. I have a Macbook pro with retina.Â

I cannot control my screen brightness using the F5 and F8 keys. The only way I can adjust it is through System Preferences. I tried just F5 fn F5, Control F5, Option F5 and Command F5 and non work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe zooming function on the trackpad stopped working on my Mac Air OSX 10.9.3. I've already checked the trackpad preferences to make sure I didn't inadvertently alter something. It worked fine in the morning then when I woke my computer in the afternoon the zoom no longer worked. I use this function constantly so I hope something is not broken.

All the other function keys are functioning just fine and dandy. I have the "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" unchecked in the preferences. I looked around and there doesn't seem to be any setting that would explain the sudden malfunctioning of the keys. Is there something I may have missed?

I really, really miss the Backspace, Home, and End functions that you have on the keyboard of most Windows based PC's. Control click stopped working and does not give me a contextual menu in the finder or any other program (including Stickies or Word) anymore.
I tried resetting Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences to default. I looked for Finder preference, or Finder preference file (it used to be "com.apple.finder.plist" according to an old 2005 forums.Macrumors post) but i could not find one.
I just reinstalled Leopard a couple of weeks ago, and do not want to go thru that again if i can avoid it.
Yesterday I had a Leopard software update which included new keyboard firmware. I did the update and the keyboard continued to function normally. This AM I booted my MacBook Pro and discovered the keyboard no longer responds to inputs. However, the MB does responds to an external USB keyboard.
Now I don't know if I have a sudden hardware problem or the MB keyboard is not working as a result of the firmware update. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Can I go back to the earlier revision of the keyboard firmware?
Hmmm - while writing this I just realized I have a bootable image of my system made a few week back on an external drive - I'll have to try it.

I have an Apple Wireless Keyboards and have noticed a problem with it. So the wireless keyboard has the EXACT same layout as my MacBook keyboard, so I would assume it should function the same. You know how along the top there are lots of function buttons? Well none of those work like they should. Clicking any of the buttons from esc (very left) to the play/pause button doesn't do anything. From there, the forward button (>>) does what F3 should, the volume off button does something I'm not quite sure what it is the volume down button pushes everything off to the side of the screen (not sure what it's called ) and volume up opens my dashboard. So is this something completely wrong with my keyboard, or is it something weird that they all do that I don't know of?
View 2 Replies View Relatedsometime this week the volume control on my pro keyboard stopped working. you can hear the "pip" noise when you hit the louder / softer buttons on the keyboard but the level doesn't change. i am still on good terms with my mute control, however.i have to resort to using the sound control in system preferences instead to increase or decrease the volume (sigh!)
i am running 10.2.8 and at about the same time as this problem occurred, I'd upgraded quicktime and think maybe it's the culprit, but before i waste a few hours playing sherlock holmes.

I have just added a new, larger internal hard drive and carbon copy cloned everything on my old HD to this new one. It seemed like everything was ok, but at some point ALL my key commands stopped working: com-q, com-i, all the keyboard shortcuts in my applications and in finder.Â

I recently ran an update for my Macbook Pro. After the update, the volume keyboard shortcut does not work. I have the setting for the function keys to work like normal function keys so I have to press the fn key to change the volume. This does not work and changing the setting does not work. I cannot add a shortcut either. Whenever I push the shortcut, I get a grayed out screen with a symbol showing that I cannot change the volume. I can still make changes by clicking on the volume symbol at the top of my screen but I really need the shortcut back.

Less than half an hour later I opened it and the keyboard and trackpad were both unresponsive. I tried everything but nothing worked so I shutdown the computer by holding the power button down. I then restarted it and they still wouldn't work so I was unable to login. I have also tried an SMC reset but this was to no avail either.

I have a new 2013 Macbook pro retina.
The keyboard back light has stopped working this morning.Â
It seems that during my afternoon class, I shut down my macbook and then when I went to use it about 10 minutes later the keyboard nor the trackpad works. Now the keyboard/trackpad is not defective as it works via the OSX install cd and it works in Windows Vista (dual booted) When ever I start up OSX it just comes up and the mouse is in the upper left hand corner, and the keyboard doesn't work at all. I have tried a pram reset by pressing command + option + p + r and that did nothing. When I am in OSX the only way to get out is to hold down the power button till the macbook turns off. What else could be wrong is there anything I can do, the nearest Apple store is about 80 miles away so I am trying to avoid that at this point as it seems like a software issue.

Strangely, some of the keys have switched functions: expose opens a search bar, keyboard dimmer refreshes the webpage, keyboard brighter selects the web address, play/pause is now shows Spaces, skip forward is expose, and sound increase is dashboard. View 3 Replies View RelatedThis week, my macbook keyboard started becoming erratic, then became much worse. Basically, it started with the tab key not working, then the keys 'r' and 'a' and 'v' stopped. It felt like a virus, although I cannot seem to find many people with similar issues. Progressively, the keyboard has got much worse, to the point that it cannot now be used. Bizarrely, if I plug in a USB keyboard, as I am using now, then I am able to type without any issue.Â
I have searched forums and have done the basic stuff - reset my PRAM, reset the SMC (although I am not sure whether this was done properly, as resetting the SMC was a basic exercise, unlike PRAM reste where a noise indictaed it having been complete). I feel that the next step is to do a complete reinstall, but I don't want to do this if possible, as I don't know how it will affect the lion install etc.Â

I have a desktop and I'm using iTunes version 11.4. I don't know when the buttons stopped working exactly but I've tried everything except downgrading itunes. They've always worked before.
