My IPhoto library accidentally got moved to the trash, I tried to drop it back into iphoto, but it will not go where it used to be. I moved it to my desktop, please, how do I get it back to normal.

I accidentally moved an event from my library to the trash (from within FCPX using the 'move event to trash' command). I realized what I did right away and hit 'undo' from the file menu. When I open the event library I can see everything there, but the project is not showing up in FCPX, even after restarting the program.
Is there a way to save the project? I also saved all of the project files/folders, including the 'current version' to a separate folder before accidentally trashing (copied them to a backup with the master files I created). Is there a way to restore those files? I like to save the project folders/files with my masters in case I ever has to revisit any project for any reason. Figured I could just drop them back into the directory and then reimport all of the 'missing' media.
Deleted my whole itunes library. It's all still in the trash but there is no restore option and I can't drag the files. What do I do?

Alright, so this morning, I tried to restore my iPhoto library using Time Machine to about 2 months ago, since I had deleted some pics. Long story short, it didn't seem to work, so I restored the backup from this morning at 11 am, the latest backup, since I had just uploaded some new photos today. Now my iPhoto library is empty. There are just outlines where my pics used to be, and it seems to remember events and all, but there are no pics or videos at all. Everything is gone. I'm just lost and feeling a bit nauseaus that I may have lost 40 some gigs of photos.

However I now want to restore just a couple of photos from my iphoto library. Is this possible because it only seems to offer the option of restoring the whole library?

I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
I bought me a brand new iMac. I freaking love this thing, don't know why I didn't make the jump (back) sooner. Anywho, I have two external hard drives in which I used to transfer data, including some pictures and audio from my Windows Vista computer to the new Mac. I go ahead and finish transferring over the files. When I go to delete the files off my external hard drive, I am met with a "the item (insert file name here) can't be moved to the trash because it can't be deleted". Now, I notice that this happens with ANY file or folder that I attempt to move to the trash can from either of my external hard drives. I can't seem to find a solutions anywhere either via a Google search or on this forum.
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy phone calls and it's my (pc-centric) friend Kasper. He's on msn with his girlfriend in Switzerland and she's panicking. She's just accidentally moved her desktop (including everything on it off course) to the trash. She's also trashed Skype (might have been on desktop?!?). And now she can't move it back out again!Unfortunately I'm not the master of Macs that Kasper hopes and I've no idea what to do about this except try to restart. To calm his girlfriend down I've told him to tell her that I'll be back in 30 min. with expert advice from Macrumors... So, what advice should I pass on to him to her?

I have a 500GB external harddrive that uses TM and have recently wanted to free up some space, so stupidly I manually moved a ton of the backups (I can't even imagine how many gigs) to the trash. The trash bin now can't even fathom the amount of space and literally doesn't empty itself (it goes to like 140,000 items to delete and just keeps going). So I read that you're not supposed to delete TM backups this way but now I'm kind of screwed because I can't move the files from the trash to the External again cause it takes too much time. What the hell am I supposed to do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot delete email the "normal" way. When I set up my POP account, it created a second trash folder with the same name as my mail account. There are thus two folders in my Trash can - "On My Mac" and the one named after my email account. When I try to delete any mail it says that I cannot move anything to the Trash folder for my Mail account. I have to DRAG all email I wish to delete to the "On My Mac" Trash folder? I just want to be able to click delete and have email go away! Why is this not working?

I somehow managed to do something really silly, I don't know how exactly I did it, but I had moved my desktop to the trash. So now it's sitting there in the trash. I don't dare do anything until I get some proper advice. Can I just drag it back to my home folder and clear the trash?

Instead system warms me "This item will be detect immediately, you can't undo this action." And the item is detect directly. I always have a empty trash.

I accidentally moved MS office 2011 to trash and cannot get it back... "put back" option is not in bold. Have read many threads to drag it to desktop, applications etc but am afraid to do this. should I just re-install the program as I have the disk? but my main concern: if I reinstall, will I lose existing files of Word, Excel, PP? I see them now converted to I-Works, will they remain? BTW - I have not backed up on time machine in over 2 months!

I tried to organize my Applications a little better, and created a sub called iLife '09. Moved my iPhoto there, and it runs just fine, but Software Update totally missed the 8.1 update and even manually downloaded I couldn't get it to update till I moved it back to the Applications root. So are we basically stuck with leaving things where they are or moving them around to get updated and back again?

I do have iTunes match and iCloud, so my songs are all on the cloud, but none of my apps are showing... I copied everything over, consolidated, but I must have messed something up as I think I have too many library files on the external drive now. I can see all my files on the external drive, but they are not showing up when I open itunes. It looks like it linked to a new copy of a library as only my most recent apps are showing, nad none of my existing ones are on itunes. What should I do to fix this? How do I know which files to delete?Â

I moved my entire 1.4TB iTunes folder to my Drobo. Then I went into preferences and changed the iTunes Media Folder Location, and I also have Keep iTunes music folder organized. That worked fine all of the music, movies and TV shows opened up fine. Than after adding a new HDD to my drobo I opened my iTunes and all of a sudden it gives me the ! next to all my files and wants me to locate them, and the folder is still the same in the folder location. Is there anyway to fix this, or to automatically reconnect all my media instead of doing it 1 by 1.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently moved my itunes library from PC to a NAS to use with my new Mac. With the exception of a couple hiccups everything was fine. I then asked iTunes to copy all the music to my ipod and convert the tracks to 256mb (I have re-ripped my cd collection as lossless and chosen the option to replace existing copies of the songs which were lossy).Â
I have 264GB of music in my iTunes library but when I looked at my NAS just now I saw 540GB of music backed up!! I then looked in one folder and saw every song had been duplicated so songs were named things like "Song.m4a" and "Song1.m4a", but this hasn't happened in every album folder - of course I have way too many to go through them individually.Â
How I can stop it from continuing and most importantly how to clear all the duplicates from the folders on my NAS so it only holds the 264GB of music that the iTunes library displays.Â

Just made the move to a Mac yesterday. I have searched on-line and in forums, but I can't find the answer to my problem. I am importing 500 gig of photos which have been obsessively organized on my pc. When I import them (only 1.5 gig this first time), the images are being moved from their original folders and organized by date in iPhoto. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that I need to tweak, but I haven't been able to find it. Having looked closer, I see there are multiple folders for each year, with seemingly no logic to the pictures that are placed in each.

When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated.How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)

I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

I just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
Thought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
