I'm running Windows XP through Virtual Box on my 2.4ghz Mac Book Pro (10.5.8) - works great for my Web Designer Day Job (checking Browser issues).... anyway I borrowed a copy of Aliens Vs Predator 2 from a friend (it's an older 2001 Game) so I figured it'd run ok on a 2009 Mac even through emulation....
Anyway I'm having major Issue trying to get the game to work, Basically I think I'm missing Nvidia Drivers?
System Profiler says I have 2 Graphics cards:
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
I've tried downloading Nividia Drivers from there site, Both that I've tried give an error message telling me "No Suitable Hardware Found" ??
has anyone tried to play a game through Virtual Box/ XP on a Mac Book Pro?

Several fonts in my font book changed from a book file to a .doc at random, and now are not openable. How can I change them back, or at least get them to work?! This is for a business graphic arts networked system so an answer as soon as possible would be awesome.

I thought I read awhile back someone posted on how to move the virtual memory to another hard drive. Now, I could be wrong, so I did a search and couldn't find the thread. So my question is on my Mac Pro, I have three HDs. 350GB that has OS. 500GB that is free. 1TB that has data. Is there a way to move the paging file (VM) so that it is being used on the 500GB hd?

like a mounth ago I bought a new Nahelm Mac Pro, 2,26 GHz, i'm very happy with it, here is the configuration:
16 gb ram ( 8 x2 gb ram)
640 gb + 2 x 1 TB Harddisk
two GT120 video card
Two Samsung T240 HD screens
and the other stuff are standart
The other day I didnt have anything to do so i was just having fun a little with some drawings on painter and photoshop while doing my everyday stuff (watching some streaming videos, or listening to music..etc) since it is my only computer, i do it for my work but also for my fun when I have nothing to do. When I watch a streaming video, let's say from youtube, i have it in full screen in one screen and on the other screen, I do my other stuff, like msn and doodling on photoshop and painter with my tablet..etc and my computer starts to lag, starts to respond very slowly, in a way that i cant do anything at all, and the streaming starts to play slow as well, then i reduce the size of the video instead of full screen and it looks a lil better for some time but then again it slows down my computer. Then when I check Activity Monitor I notice that I still have 10-12 GB free ram since I have only my everyday stuff open. but it shows 54 GB virtual memory and I dont understand what uses this much memory? I mean ok I make multi tab browsing..Etc but not more than I used to do on my old pc laptop with 4 gb ram, why does it use virtual memory when I still have 10 GB free ram? what should i do to avoid such situation other than not opening those applications at the same time? I wish that I was clear enough to explain my problem, I'm attaching a screenshot of my Activity Monitor,

I have files to burn into a cd, but all of my cd ran out. I was thinking about using a virtual clonedrive. Is there any way to make from a .iso file to a real cd file? (Has the cd icon, and not the white dvd player icon) It has to fool the mac to think that I inserted the cd, when it's just a virtual cd. Please don't put useless comments, such as 'Why don't you buy a cd'. The reason I want to use a virtual clonedrive is that I just need one cd, but they all sell in bundles of 30,50,etc.

I have an 40 GB SSD installed on my 2010 iMac 27" with a 2TB HDD hosting the users folder. I was running Transmission and encoding a DVD when I was told that I am out of Virtual Memory and must restart.
My question is: will using the SSD for Virtual Memory affect its performance down the line (as they should not be written to too much.) If so, how can I change my virtual memory storage location? *Xupport didn't work.

I am interested to see if any MR users out there use their Mac Pro for running multiple virtual machines concurrently? Plenty of folks run one or two even on a MBP with little problems at all. I am considering running 4 at the same time. Is this going to work? I plan on running Vmware Fusion 3 with 4 virtual machines with Windows 2003 Server Enterprise. This will hopefully work as my all-in-one virtual lab for my security research and development.
I was thinking of an 8 core 2.66 (2009) MP with 24GB of RAM to start with.

I have a mac powerbook g3 laptop and have successfully installed Virtual PC on. My problem is that when I open Virtual PC it just comes up with a black Virtual PC programme window. Once its done that I am unable to do any thing with Virtual PC because its frozen and in order to get out of the programme I have to force quit it. What do I do to get it to run windows 98? (I have both the Virtual PC disk and the windows 98 disk).

I installed TuneCloner to import audio-cds as mp3 (before figuring out that also iTune can do that). TuneClone has installed a virtual cd burner on my system, this is what System Profiler reports:
Hardware->Disc Burning -> Burning Devices: CDWriter TuneClone
Firmware Revision: 1.0
Interconnect: Virtual Interface
Profile Path: None
How can I remove it?? It makes Disk Utility crash and makes a cd icon appear on my desktop. I've read some post on this site about something like this, but I still couldn't get rid of my virtual drive... On TuneClone web site I was told how to hide the icon, but I don't want to just hide it... I'd like to get entirely rid of it!

My router has a firewall on it.
I use gmail and follow the usual precautions against opening strange documents, etc. (I also have a supplemental fan sitting under it)
I have no virus or malware or spyware protection on either the mac or the PC, although I do run occasional checks for them and have never found anything suspicious.

Has any one experienced how the MBA Rev A (1.6, 80 GB HD model) handles virtual machines? I need Windows sometimes due to my work (damn you Windows networks) and would love to be able to use my MBA.
I was thinking of using VMWare or VirtualBox from Sun.

I would like some input on the current Rev. B/SSD owners.
How does virtual machines run, specifically Windows XP Professional SP3?
My cousin is thinking about purchasing the Rev B SSD model but he requires Windows XP for work purposes. He won't be running much, just some basic software. I run a Vista virtual machine on my current 17" and it tends to studder a little sometimes.

I was wondering if in anyway possible on a mac I can make my two monitors at the moment act as one virtual monitor? Know what I mean? So I want like one extra wide resolution which would cover both screens, not a separate resolution for each. Hope this is possible, much be in some way.

Looking to get a new desktop and I've decided an iMac fits the bill perfectly as I believe it's the best value on the market by far. Anyway, I plan to get Fusion 3.0 here fairly soon, and will likely use Windoze7, and a distro or two or linux with it. Do you think that having 8GB of RAM would benefit enough to go for it? (It'd just order it afterward I'm sure, and install myself) I would be using both MS and Linux OS's for work, and hopefully some play if VM's will allow some decent gaming.

In theory, will windows on virtualbox be running best on a quad or duo iMac? Right now I am doing it on a 2008 MacBook and I must say it does put a strain on the computer to the point of being annoying. I ask since in process of upgrading to iMac.

Is there a way to run Mac OS X as a virtual machine on a Mac OS X host? My Mac OS X system is configured as a server for my home network. It provides mail, DNS, and DHCP services to other systems on my home network. Occasionally, I need to establish an IPsec VPN connection to work from the Mac OS X system. When I do this mail, DNS, and DHCP are not available. Are there any options aside from purchasing another system to be the server for my home network?
