OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Retrieve A Photo From TimeMachine?
Jun 4, 2012I'm a bit nervous about this - first time I have used the TimeMachine backup. It asked me to relaunch iPhoto from the backup, but I was worried I would lose recent stuff so I stopped. Â
I want to access a photo from giving 2010 - when I went to my current iPhoto library, one of the kids has been fooling around with the touch-up and given everyone panda eyes, so I want to find the original when it was first uploaded.Â

Apr 24, 2012I have just been searching my trash folder and have found all my 'Previous I Tunes folders' there. All with the .itl ending. I have dragged the most recent one out of trash but when I try to open it, nothing happens and the icon appears blank.

Jun 21, 2009i'm new to Mac and im just learning all the features. I bought the 15" mid macbook pro and this laptop is awesome. However, i accidentally deleted the last 2 icons next to the trash icon. I know that you can retrieve icons by going to the application and dragging them to the dock. But the last 2 icons i believe is something different. I forgot the name of the icons as well but i know it has something to do with recent activities or some sort.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Time Machine Not Letting Retrieve An IPhoto File Library
Feb 3, 2012I am trying to retrieve an iPhoto file from a week ago.Â
One week ago I attempted to upgrade to Lion, then realized that was not what I wanted to do and rebooted from my clone to restore to Snow Leopard.Â
When I opened iPhoto however, I realized that the iPhoto library was way further back than I had remembered.Â
I used my Time Machine backup to get my old iPhoto library back (not to try to merge, just to retreive the file) and I get the error message: "This operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access "iPhoto Library."Â
I already repaired permissions on the volume. What gives?
IMac :: Taking Out The Trash - Clean Out Photo Images
Jan 8, 2011I'm trying to clean out my photo images. I bought a new/refurbished 27" Mac 2.8 Quad desktop and I plugged my cell phone into it to recharge it and I accidentally let it suck up all the photos from my cell phone which were a LOT! I deleted a lot of them but there's a lot that won't empty from my trash bin. The message I get is "The operation can?t be completed because the item ? ####? is in use." (I inserted ### just for this post). I do know there's some photos being used in Picasa Photo albums but theres dozens I have no clue where they're being used. I don't see them in my iPhoto anywhere or Photo Booth..etc etc or my regular Picasa App. A lot of the photos that are in my Picasa Photo albums aren't photos I resized or turned clockwise.counter clockwise and such...and would like to delete those...but can't find them anywhere and this Mac is only a month old. Is there any way to find out where I can find the photos and stop them out of being "used" as the message I keep getting from my trash bin keeps saying?

But I can't click it because another screen pops up saying that iPhoto quit unexpectedly. I can ignore it, send a report, or relaunch the application. Oct 6, 2009I have an iPhoto library with 15.000 photo's and videos and I cannot stand the way iPhoto organizes all of them.
To get my photo's organized in a decent fashion I came up with the following ideas:
1. Switch to Aperture. (But Aperture does not accept videos, so that won't work for me.)
2. Use albums in iPhoto. (But the events are still under events, albums just create a shortcut.)
3. Switch to Picasa, but it seems like it is hard to get all the metadata (keywords, geotags, etc) correctly exported out of iPhoto.
None of these seem to work for me. How do you guys deal with your large photo libraries?

May 26, 2009I'm new to Aperture, I've always used Iphoto. I've recently imported a large library of photo's from Iphoto into Aperture. I selected to store the photo's in their current location. Is there any way that Aperture can automatically update the library once I add it to Iphoto or my computer? I'm always adding photo's to my computer. As it is now I have to manually import the selected photo's into an event and then drag it from the event to my library. Is there an easier way then this? is there some option that I'm missing?

Mar 19, 2009I have downloaded loads of new effects for photo booth and then was looking for some more and the single qtz files which are placed in the Library/Compositions folder show up as a grey screen (see attachment) in the preview but are fine when you click on them. Nov 20, 2009I noticed that this box pops up everytime I go to close iPhoto and it's an extremely slow process. Each time I have closed iPhoto, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to "save this critical information." Before I upgraded to my new 27" iMac, it would never do this and iPhoto would close right away. MacBook Air :: Photo Library Needs To Be Upgraded To Work With This Version Of IPhoto
Aug 24, 2014Just bought a Macbook Air running 10.9.4 and was trying to transfer iPhoto library from our old laptop via an external HD.
After I copied the old library to Pictures folder, iPhoto prompted me to install and run upgraded.
I did that but when I try to open iPhoto it still prompts me "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." after I click upgrade it shuts down immediately. When I try to access the library as described above, it only opens what I believe is called a package.

Do I delete the Pictures folder and start over? if so, how?Â
