I made an attempt to find an answer for this question before posting, yet to no avail.
I use Spaces often and really want to be able to customize/rearrange my desktop items unique to each Space. I keep all my work/school items in one space and media applications in another - I'd like to do the same with my desktop icons.
I would like to add certain frequently used sites on the tool bar. I have been using Snow Leopard in the past and now I can't figure out how to do it with Mavericks.Â

Before I ask this question, I just want to emphasize that I KNOW how easy it is to create a service using automator. I'm not looking to clutter up my contextual menu more than it already is, I would just like to edit/alter an already existing submenu, or simply add a new one like Dropbox does.Â
I would like to add a share option to my right-click contextual share option for outlook, or whatever app/service I would like to send the file with.Â
add a share option to the contextual-menu, and possibly delete some I don't use, like flickr or twitter.Â

I have recently installed Aperture onto my MacBook. When I started it up, I said 'yes' create an aperture library from my existing iPhoto library. I then watched in some dismay as Aperture then proceed to 'clobber' my hard drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I click to open the application it says that the photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. So I have the choice to upgrade. But I can't click it because another screen pops up saying that iPhoto quit unexpectedly. I can ignore it, send a report, or relaunch the application. This happens every single time, and I can no longer access my photo library.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iPhoto library with 15.000 photo's and videos and I cannot stand the way iPhoto organizes all of them.
To get my photo's organized in a decent fashion I came up with the following ideas:
1. Switch to Aperture. (But Aperture does not accept videos, so that won't work for me.)
2. Use albums in iPhoto. (But the events are still under events, albums just create a shortcut.)
3. Switch to Picasa, but it seems like it is hard to get all the metadata (keywords, geotags, etc) correctly exported out of iPhoto.
None of these seem to work for me. How do you guys deal with your large photo libraries?
I'm going to be teaching a number of staff at the local high school (which is going over to the Apple platform from Novell) how to use iPhoto but, I don't want to use any of my personal photos as examples. I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me where I could find the sample photos that are loaded onto macs in the Apple store.

I'm new to Aperture, I've always used Iphoto. I've recently imported a large library of photo's from Iphoto into Aperture. I selected to store the photo's in their current location. Is there any way that Aperture can automatically update the library once I add it to Iphoto or my computer? I'm always adding photo's to my computer. As it is now I have to manually import the selected photo's into an event and then drag it from the event to my library. Is there an easier way then this? is there some option that I'm missing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to turn off screen saver (and desktop) in using my photo library (Aperture)? Currently it is using my entire photo library as screen saver and I wanted to turn it off. Clicking on the "-" button in the Screen Saver preference pane does not remove Aperture photo library from the list. I had OS 10.7.3 installed.

I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
I have downloaded loads of new effects for photo booth and then was looking for some more and the single qtz files which are placed in the Library/Compositions folder show up as a grey screen (see attachment) in the preview but are fine when you click on them. So does anyone know how I can get the preview of these to show up, or even to paste a picture in the box?! Also, does anyone know where I can download some single qtz files to add to photo booth as well?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that this box pops up everytime I go to close iPhoto and it's an extremely slow process. Each time I have closed iPhoto, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to "save this critical information." Before I upgraded to my new 27" iMac, it would never do this and iPhoto would close right away. Is this standard now? Why does it take so long to do its thing and close?

Just bought a Macbook Air running 10.9.4 and was trying to transfer iPhoto library from our old laptop via an external HD.
After I copied the old library to Pictures folder, iPhoto prompted me to install and run upgraded.
I did that but when I try to open iPhoto it still prompts me "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." after I click upgrade it shuts down immediately. When I try to access the library as described above, it only opens what I believe is called a package.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of photos that I'd like to be able to use as my desktop background - all are saved on my computer with the correct "portrait" orientation, but when I open system preferences they weirdly show up in "landscape" orientation. I've tried everything I can think of (saving them under different names, selecting and deselecting the exif orientation tag box, etc). Nothing works. The photos still show up sideways in the preferences panel.Â

I have a MacBook Pro 2.6GHz / 8GB RAM / 750GB h-drive running Mavericks 10.9.2. A photo stored on my desktop is constantly onscreen. I can't move it or delete it and it appears in the same place on screen even when surfing the web. Also, since this appeared I can't move other items on my desktop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up my iMac the desktop photo only takes up part of the display area in the upper left. The Dock is also showing up on the right side of the desktop photo and not on the right hand side of the screen where it should be. All my desktop file icons are where they should be. Â
If I switch accounts and switch back the display is back to what it should be. This just started happening in the last week or so and only happens on one account on the computer. I have not made any setup changes or installed any software before this happened but I did install the latest OSX update right before this started happening.

I just installed Aperture 3.6 in Yosemite on my new Mac - after the installation I agreed to use one library for iPhoto and Aperture - next the installation appears to have imported over 3000 program / Resource images and stored them in my Iphoto librarys and projects and in Aperture? The images look like thumbnails to low resolution clip art and some date back to 2006.
