View 1 RepliesI have the original version of the Macbook Air, the one with the micro DVI port not the mini display port. I would like to hook the Macbook Air up to my 50" HDTV. I have the micro DVI-DVI adaptor that came with the Macbook Air. I want to get a DVI to HDMI cable.

I know i need to get the mini displayport to vga adapter for my 13 in mb aluminum, but I am unsure of what vga cable to get. Are there different types of vga cables? Which exact one do i need? Also, i need one that is 10 feet long.

I have a Macbook Unibody (late 08) with the mini displayport. I want to hook it up to my Sony Bravia (KDL-40V3000). Since the HDMI ports are all used up, the only ports available are the VGA, and Component.
My questions are pretty basic:
What is my best option to hook it up, giving me the highest resolution (the TV says it does 1920 x 1080). Will both VGA and Component do that?
Also, I do already have the mini displayport to DVI adapter for another monitor I use, so I could get a DVI->VGA adapter I think. But if that's going to degrade the video, or whatnot, I don't mind getting a different adapter for this project.
I was wondering what type of cable I need if I want to hook my Mac Book Pro (the new one, 15" 2.53GHZ) to my new LG HDTV coming in tomorrow, I've never had a HDTV before and I really want to use Netflix streaming to hook up to the TV or DVD Blu Ray player which is a LG too. I couldn't afford the high dollar wireless TV's that do one, but I found a nice 47" one for $999. I just don't want to buy the wrong cord without double checking first.

it would be like this Duet--(FW400)-->Gdrive--(FW800)--> Imac. Is this going to cause any issues for my duet or my imac?(power and performance wise)???
I just got an iMac running 10.6.1 And I still have a Mac Mini running 10.4.11, which allows me to access several apps running under Classic. I'd like to still access them on the glossy new monitor, with the wireless Magic Mouse. Since the iMac has no monitor input port, how do I hook up a KVM switch? Which brand do you recommend?

I don't know of any adapter or TV that can support this resolution. Will the signal come in only partially displayed
1) Wireless
Atlonas - HDAIR wireless usb to HDMI/VGA with audio
http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/21/a...gains-audio-u/
pros+: one connection for audio and video, usb, easy setup, hdmi out, wireless
cons-: reported sucky framerates, max res is 1440x1220 (720p), not mac compatible (so will req bootcamp/vmfusion/parallels - windows).
2) Wired
Would need the following
mini displayport + toslink audio + usb to hdmi out
1) [url]
50ft hdmi cable
2) [url]
I heard 50feet is about the limit of HDMI for 1080p if you don't want to mess with amplifiers to correct signal lost.
I have a 2005 iMac G5 with iSight that I would like to connect to my HDTV. I have seen sites that say to get a mini dvi to dvi cable then dvi to HDML to conect to the hdml on the TV. Do I need a separate audio cable for this or does the dvi carry audio too?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about buying a mac mini to use with an HDTV as the primary screen. I've read some other posts regarding this. My question is, which method of hooking the setup up (i.e., which cables) provides the best picture. I've done this with a PC before but the connection was crumby... is this the case with the mac mini? Will I be able to get the same resolution that I can in a monitor? Also, I have looked at a ton of HDTVs and find the picture to be pretty bad compared to older TVs. Can anyone reccommend a model in the $500-700 range that has a good picture.

1. what cables/software do i need to achieve this?
2. is there any way that i can use my TV as a secondary monitor in a way that means i can run media off my iMac, through my TV set, whilst still being able to use my iMac for general tasks such as web browsing. or can i only have the TV mimmick exactly what is on my iMac screen?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to connect my IMAC to my tv. I tried using a home network, but the samsung tv I have does not recognize most of the files, plus the internet apps suck big time.(only netflix is kind of good) So I was then thinking to get a mac mini and just but ay 1000$ it doe snot solve my needs. So I am looking for something to wireless stream the video from my imac to the tv. So it would mini dvi to hdmi - then box with HDMI input to stream to another box with HDMI output connected to my tv. It would also need to stream the audio. Is there anyway to just use the network connection and just hack into the tv?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new here and I've done a little searching and can't find an exact answer to my situation:I want to convert my video from my iMac and my iBook to my 37" LCD HDTV (Vizio) which has a VGA input already on it.Now, I have a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter already for my iBook, however, the adapter will not work on the Mini-DVI port on my iMac.
My question is: Does anyone know where I can get a cheap alternative to convert Mini-DVI (for my Intel iMac) to VGA with at least 50-75 feet of cable?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my HDTV with a new Sony Bravia 32EX500 (Full HD, 1080p). My previous TV (HD Ready, 720p) was linked to my 2008 iMac with a VGA cable (with a mini-DVI to VGA adapter on the Mac end). It worked perfectly fine, but I can't get it to work with the new TV. Could you please tell me what resolution, frequency, and colours I should use to make it work?
Please not that I do not want a HDMI cable. I know it'd be better and easier, but my computer is quite far away from the TV and an HDMI cable of that length would be way too expensive. I'd rather find a way to make it work with the existing VGA cable. I just need to find the right settings for that VGA input. The TV doesn't recognize the signal right now.
I have an iMac 27 and I want to connect it to a HDTV samsung 46 full HD. I have conected from displayport to HDMI and i get the screen. But at the same time I have connected a 3,5 minijack from the computer to the RCA audio in of the TV but I dont get sound. I have checked the config of the TV and I dont find any place to activate it. Then, talking about the screen. I have few questions.
How can I stop the screen on the iMac and work only with the HDTV?
How can I config that the windows on the tv have bigger letters while they keep on the same way on the i Mac's screen?
The tv is kind of far away and is difficult to see the letters.
I know that using the DVI to VGA device, one can get their mac picture to show up on TV, but is there any way to also hook sound up from mac into TVs?
I have some TV shows I've bought on iTunes that aren't on DVD and I'd like to watch them on my TV. Is there an all-in-one picture AND sound method to get my mac to play video on my TV?
I have a Macbook and I want to hook it up to my RCA flat screen TV. I have seen people hook up their computers to TVs before so I know it is possible, but I have no idea how to do it. If you could tell me how to do it step by step, I am electronics retarded so I need all the details.
