Software :: Delete Pictures From Preview?
Jul 28, 2008
When you are visualizing some pictures in the Preview, and you want to delete some as you see them, when you press command+delete, they are deleted from the list on the right of the preview (slides), but not deleted from thew hard disk....!
Anyone knows if there is a way to delete pictures while you see them in the Preview other than doing it with "right button+move to trash"?
This is so annoying, it should be a short cut to be able to delete pictures right away as you see them, and you know that you don't like them...

I'm trying to move pictures in bulk in preview. When I select about 10 pics in preview and move them to a folder they won't go in. when i select one pic and move it into a folder, that will work but not more than one.

When I import pictures from my camera, preview and finder automatically rotate them right-side up. Cool feature. However, when I go to send them via mail, they're not rotated. How do I turn off this feature so when a picture, it is what it is.

When I print a color picure from Preview, areas of medium color like an evening sky show bands about one inch wide. parallel to the print head movement direction. So one inch tall band will be lighter, the next darker. These are subtle differences, but ruin the print. I've contacted Epson who told me to try all the things I had already tried e.g. clean, calibrate, & align printer, new Epson brad ink, etc. They said if that didn't work it was the computer, or the cable, which I find unlikely. So I then tried printing from Gimp and Picasa, which did not have the problem, but also printed at the correcct size instead of expanding the image to fit the paper. This happens with both small images 320X231 as well as large ones 1600X1200Â
I read a comment in the community written in 2009 that said "After you choose File -> Print, under the "Orientation" section, about halfway down, is a drop-down menu. Choose "Preview" in there. After that, use the Scaling options to get it to print the size you want." I tried that but it doesn't change the size of the printed image. I also tried fiddling with the image size on the Tools menu but that didn't help. It seems like the only way to shrink the image on the paper is to change to a smaller paper size, which is a workaround. Are these bands being caused by the expansion of the image? It's being blown up about 60%.Background: Preview version 5.0.3, OS 10.6.8, printer connected directly via USB. Printer is Epson Workforce 633

when I start to import my photos in to iPhoto it says there isn't enough space for it. I know that every picture I import in to iPhoto makes a copy for iPhoto, so...is there an easy way to delete photos I don't need anymore from iPhoto and from my hard drive in order to clear up space? I can't even find the folder where the iPhoto photos are.

When I right click to save a picture online, it doesn't give me the opportunity to save something as a JPEG. I instead have to save it as a preview and then export it to JPEG. This seems like something relatively new.

When I open up more than one picture (e.g., JPEG) in preview, it displays one picture at a time, putting the other pictures in the sidebar. Normally this is ok, but sometimes I need to look at two (or more) pictures side-by-side to compare things. How can I do this in Preview?

In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

I'm sure I changed some setting somewhere, but this is a bit annoying. Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? I'm forced then to remove the link it adds to my iTunes library after every preview.

Messages keeps switching the conversation view from "Show Names and Pictures" to just "Show Pictures". This is in the menu under: View > Messages > Show Names and Pictures. I have to change it multiple times a day, including every time I open the app from a closed state.
This is very confusing in group iMessage conversations where all the iMessages are coming from the same grey silhouette icon. The issue is only happening on my Mac mini. It's not happening on my MacBook Air. Both are running Mavericks 10.9.3...So I keep changing the setting here, but it somehow just switches back to Show Pictures only:

How do I delete text. Let's say I wrote the wrong word, as you know a Windows keyboard has "Delete" and "Backspace" keys, but a MacBook keyboard only has a "Delete" key which acts like the "Backspace" key. So in order for me to delete on work I have to go behind the text and use it like backspace.. how do I just delete the word from the front?

I was running my iMac just in admin, which I know is frowned upon but that's the way I had it. I had a corrupt preferences file and I couldn't save any of my passwords etc Finally created a new user and reinstalled everything and it works fine. Had to replace all my passwords for my apps etc but other than that not that big a deal.
Question is can I now delete the other user now that I have a new admin login?:
It is just taking up storage space with a user which is corrupted but I don't want to erase the data in that user and also delete all my data in the new user as well.

I never use "User Accounts" on my MacBook. So I don't know much about them.
If I delete one User Account, will it delete that user's libraries, such as their music, movies, documents, etc?
Also, will it delete the programs that were installed under that user's account, but are accessible by all users?
