My iMac OS 10.6.4 recently had a drive failure and I had to re-install my apps. Since then I cannot print from my Filemaker files (ver. 8.5 and 9.0). The print dialog window appears but the normal looking Print button does nothing. To print I have to click the Preview button which works fine, and then print from Preview. Most of my printing is done through scriptsall of which fail to print at that point, but I've tried printing a single record using the Menu command and have the same hang up. I re-installed from the CD but it did not fix the problem.
I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.
I have been given the opportunity at work to use Filemaker 10 if I want to... but I can't for the life of think why I would. I'm a graphic/web designer. Could I tie it in with a back-end database for websites? Should I use it to manage clients? I've read reviews and looked at the website, but they all focus on the improvements from the last version rather than what it should/can actually be used for!
After installation of licensed version of filemaker pro 9.0 when I start I get a message relaunch, ignore, or send report to apple. I sent report multiple times to apple without response. Trial version of filemaker pro 10 does work.
i work for a small digital printing company and we are looking for a way to incoroporate the use of a schedule like app that would let us manipulate job tickets in a calendar app like ical with filemaker pro 10.
thought explained:
1. within filemaker pro 10 we would create a job ticket with all the needed information (name of print file, quantity, size, due date etc.)
2. within this job ticket we would estimate how much time it would take to complete the project (ex. 1 hour.)
3. then automatigically a 1hour reserved time slot would be taken in ical on the desired day.
4. our production manager would then move around the reserved time slots at will to complete the jobs for the due dates.
IS THIS POSSIBLE TO ACCOMPLISH?
if so, does anyone know of a file maker plugin or any other app that can do this?
Files open normally in all accounts except 1 account where Filemaker crashes upon program startup. Same exact files opens fine in 1 account, crashes program in the other. Deleted prefs, plist, etc.
Program works fine in all accounts except the one. Same files that open in most accounts, these same exact files crash Filemaker when I try to open in just one account on the computer.
Intel iMac running Snow Leopard, 10.6.8. Craziest thing I ever did see!
I need to have the built in camera of an IMac take a photograph and insert it into a field in Filemaker Pro without user interaction. It would hopefully be used for staff attendance, and track who is changing records.I have no experience with applescript, but I think it might be the way to get the task done.
What is the easiest way to 1) show the current record number and 2) show how many records are in the current found set? This is the same info that is in the Status Toolbar. I want to hide this tool bar but the user still needs to know this info.
I have an important database created on my Mac using an old version of Filemaker II. (Version 1.1v2 1989) Since I have gone to OSX, the old program will not work on my newer Intel Mac. I am trying to find out how to convert the old files to a newer version of FileMaker that will allow me to read and add to the file.
I have a version 6.0 and 9.0 of Filemaker Pro, but neither will allow me to read the old database. Might have to step up from version to version and convert. We are at wits end and desperately need some expert help! Can anyone tell me how to do this. Files are a listing of 20+ years of articles and photos connected with a small magazine my wife and I publish.
I run a small architecture firm and I'm in need of a database program to track projects, clients, and employees.
I'd like the ability to create project reports that illustrate how much time and money is spent on all aspects of a project (predesign, site analysis, schematic, etc.), reimbursables, direct expenses, etc.
I'd also like to break that down further to what individual employees have worked on. On individual projects as well as all projects worked on.
Is this something that can be done in Bento or is Filemaker needed? Some have recommended Access but I would prefer to stay on the Mac side for this information.
Filemaker 6 is crashing on my MacBook Pro when I try to select a user dictionary. I tried deleting preference files. Then I reinstalled Filemaker from the original installlation disk.
i have been trying to install filemaker server connector which needs root access. i enabled root user and logged into it for the install but the installer still asks to login as root.
is there anyway of forcing the installer? is there something else i can do to give the installer "root" access?
I have set up the printer connected directly to my imac to be shared. I can see it and add it to my macbook and files print across the network from both Word and Firefox. However pdf files open in acrobat will not print from the macbook.
Tried many searches now but so far I have had no solutions.
I am suddenly having a problem saving or printing PDF files from the browser, but it extends to all browsers in OS X. I can view the PDF normally but if I try to print as PDF all it shows is two black pages. Then if I try to save as a PDF it tells me the document could not be exported. I just tried this with a PDF and the only way I could get it was via Windows running on Parallels. I've already tried resetting the printer by removing and adding it again with the alt key pressed but this made no difference.
This all started about a week or so ago and I just ignored it at first thinking it was something wrong with a particular file but now it's happening in all cases. I'm running the latest 10.7.3 on a new Mac Pro and everything is up to date.
I can no longer save PDF from the web. Error message shows The document “doc.pdf” could not be exported as “doc.pdf”. Nor can I print a pdf from the internet, instead it prints blank pages. It used to work fine. I know that this is not a problem with the documents I am downloading because I have no problem saving and printing the same files from a Dell computer.
I've been using Filemaker for years, but I've never had a need for anything too complicated - until now. I am in the midst of designing a vote database. I am hoping to find a way to have a choice made from a drop down menu that would define the text fields. I need this to be accurate as possible.
so I am try to fix a macbook that was updated to 10.5.7 it appears there is an issue with finder, files or folders can't be move (nothing is locked), spotlight icon and time are gone from the menu bar, no programs will print. I have tried restarting, repairing permissions, removing safari beta 4 (downgraded back to 3) with no luck. Trying the combo update is my next thought?
I have noticed that the ability to send an email from outside Mail via one of the several applications that has the capability has disappeared. Whenever I try to send a message I get an error message from the app. For example in Filemaker I get "Some of the files that are needed are either damaged or have not been installed. run the installer to correct this problem." In Acrobat I get "The SendMail doesn't know how to talk to your default mail client. select a different mail application to use." In MS Word the menu selection is dimmed out. From Pages however it works fine.
I am new to Automator, and even though I have been tinkering around with it for about an hour, I can't seem to create an action.
What I want to do is have Automator automatically take the contents of a specific folder on my hard drive, print the contents of the folder (usually PDFs), then delete the files. I use dropbox, so when I place a pdf into this folder from my laptop on the go, it would be nice to come home to it printed, and no longer in the folder taking up space.
When printing from PPC or Intel Macs running 10.4 or 10.5, Quark fails to print files containing Verdana. On 10.5 Macs, the file prints, but substitutes Courier. On 10.4 Macs, the file fails without notification. It just disappears from the queue. I've tested copying the text to InDesign CS3 and it prints just fine. I've tested printing to four different HP LJ models, they all fail the same. One printer (HP LJ 9050) kicks out an error and requires a reboot: 49.60FF. Copying the font(s) from a Mac that prints fine does not work. I've thought about trashing the Quark preferences, but am waiting for a window.
