But any time I try to open a video on sites such as gizmodo, engadget, youtube, or full episodes from like [URL]. whichever browser I attempt to open it with just completely crashes. This has been getting worse and worse and now it literally happens 100% of the time.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both browsers multiple times to no avail. I am REALLY dreading reinstalling my entire OS. Is there a way I can completely eliminate flash from my computer? Then I can manually download it from Adobe directly and see if that works.

It doesn't matter what site it is, but whenever I click an "upload" link that would normally result in a Finder window popping up to allow me to browse for a file, then the browser crashes on me.Â

Software :: Flash Player Causes Firefox To Crash?
Dec 20, 2010I seem to have had this problem before several month ago. Well I updated to a new version of Firefox (3.6.13) and I have Flash 10.1 installed (MacOS 10.6.5). Every time I open any web site with Flash content, Firefox crashes. This happens with Yahoo Mail, CNN, New York Times, etc. So I disabled Flash temporarily, and my Yahoo Mail no longer crashed. Of course I can't watch any online videos now.
I tried uninstalling Flash 10.1 and re-installing it. No go. I tried the beta 10.2. still crashed. Finally I found a version of Flash 9 for Mac on Adobe's web site, and that does indeed work. Of course it's an older version, but at least I can use Firefox. The bad news is that the plugin is used by Safari also.
MacBook :: Hard Drive Causing Firefox Crash?
Mar 8, 2009When I watch a flash video on my MacBook it causes Firefox (and Safari) to crash probably 70% of the time.
I noticed today that it started right when I upgraded my hard drive to a 320gb Samsung model in January. What made me notice that is because I am taking the MacBook to get its case fixed tomorrow so I put the original hard drive back in. Ever since the original hard drive has been reinserted flash videos have played with no problems.
Can a hard drive cause a problem like this?
btw I have 4gb of memory so I should have plenty of resources.

Jun 19, 2009I'm afraid I'm new to Mac's and I've not had any luck finding what I'm after using the search function. My wife's macbook has recently completed a download and install of the latest Safari (4) and now every time we connect to the net it stays connected for about 10 seconds and then crashes. I receive a message window saying safari quit unexpectedly and offers me options to close, report or reopen safari. I'm useless at diagnosing problems.

Mar 2, 2010As soon as I launch safari, the HD will begin thrashing continuously for no apparent reason, it will do this for ~10 minutes (constant thrashing) and the noise alone is very annoying. As soon as I close Safari, the thrashing stops and everything is quiet again. Then I relaunch Safari and it starts thrashing again. No other browser behaves this way. Does anyone else have similar problems with Safari and is there any way to "shut it up"?

Jul 1, 2012Ever time I try to download anything from the web Safari crashes and closes down, it even crashed this morning when I tried to download an update for it. Is there a problem with Safari or should I check for other problems . If I try to print (or save as a PDF) from a particular web site with THEIR Java "print" button on the web page, Safari crashes. Upon restart of Safari all is well. It stays ok until I re boot/restart the computer. Then the same thing happens. After the first crash of Safari everthing is a-ok. Likewise, when I attempt to print from a PDF file loaded in Mac Preview, the file crashes. I thought it was a printer issue until I realized that I can print Word documents without issue. OS X Mavericks :: Reset Causes Safari To Crash If Top Sites Is Default
Sep 7, 2014If I reset Safari, it will often crash if TOP SITES is the first window Safari reopens with.
The crash may also be aggravated by my attempt to type something in the search bar, right after I reset.
I have now set Safari to open with a homepage, and now I can reset Safari at will and it no longer crashes after a reset.
