Safari 5.1 on Lion. Keeps saying blocking flash. Wants me to download. Already tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting, clearing the cache. Driving me nuts? Don't remember seeing this before the safari update?

He says they have a guest Wifi network, but it won't let me access Gmail (which I need for work), Facebook, and who knows what else I might need whilst doing research. I don't know much about networks (I'm a Mac girl; my knowledge of networks pretty much consists of "plug in Airport"). I don't know how they're blocking the sites they're blocking. Can anyone give me a concise, "go here, put in these numbers" kind of solution to ensure that my browser has free access today? I'm willing to pay for a pay service or app, if that's necessary. Not terribly worried about other ports being open; I can live without iChat if I can reach Gmail & Facebook via the web. using whatever the latest version of 10.6 is.

Seems Glimmerblocker isn't working with the beta release of Safari 4. Anyone have any luck blocking ads? Also, I'd love to block flash. The inability to block flash is probably the main reason I could never use Safari full time. The browser looks amazing and is very snappy, but alas.... I need plugin support.

anway, im can't stand these ads, is there anything (even for safari 3) that would block them "similar to ad block plus" in firefox? if there is nothing im not even going to see if it better suits me. since i got a dvr and all this ad blocking add ons (you can actually target an add that isn't caught by the filter and make it filter it, amazing) i absolutely can not one bit stand there and take it from all these ads

installed what seemed to be the most commonly referred to one -- SafariPlus. It was not the usual easy install -- I had to add a folder in my Library, and move the contents of the download into it. Upon restarting Safari, it would crash immediately -- so I removed it.
I also installed ClickToFlash, and while it worked well, it kind of annoyed me when using, for example, youtube playlists, and i had to click on every single page in order for it to play. I get that it's what it's designed to do, but it wasn't really convenient for me.

Is there any way to stop this? It'll give a warning message on all attachments but on certain attachments it downright blocks them all together and doesn't even give me the option of bypassing the message to open the attachment. Is there a setting I can change in the preferences? I looked at the security tab and nothing popped out as being the right one.
BTW, I know the attachment is safe...

Since the Safari 5.1.5 update, one function of my bank's bill pay can not be accessed and defaults to a different page. I checked with the bank this morning and it seems the latest update of Safari blocks entry into the Medivante bill pay function which operates within the shell of the bank web page. The browser gives no indication that that page is actually from Medivante. Essentially, Safari sees this as a third party and blocks the browser from even getting information, not just cookies!
Bill pay can be accessed from the main page to set up a payment since that is a flow though using the bank information or setup, but is blocked if doing any editing which requires the site communicating directly with Medivante within the bank site. This can only be gotten around by changing to NEVER blocking cookies. Having the setting of blocking 3rd party and advertiser cookies no longer can be used with the bank site if I need to access the bill pay function. This doesn't even seem to be an issue of cookies, but is blocking access to bank/Medivante information.
Because the never setting is a risky one that only a fool would allow, I have to change the setting while I am in the bank site, change back cookie preferences when done with the bank, then close Safari before I do further browsing (seems the new settings don't always take effect until the browser restarts). This might be for our protection, but Apple has broken convenient use of the bank site that had worked prior to the update. I do not know who else might be affected. My bank is not one of the "big name" financial institutions but is certainly not a minor institution.

I upgraded Safari last night through Software Update.Â
This morning I tried to go to one of my regular sites and OpenDNS blocks me from it.Â
I don't use OpenDNS. I did a couple of years ago when I was having speed issues with Safari. It didn't help so I dropped it. Turned out that was a modem problem that couldn't handle DNS prefetching. So why is it back? Why is it blocking me? And how do I stop it?

I have just started to notice something really weird. When ever I go onto a page that contains Flash any web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) crashes on my mac. Do I need to re-install the latest version of Flash? I have the most upto date of everything (OSX, Safari, Flash) etc.
The only way I could get onto Macrumors was to install ClikcToFlash.

I have been suffering with this issue for a few weeks now. Any flash snippet on a page causing Safari to crash. I had tried everything to fix the issue. Reinstalling flash player, rolling back to flash player 9, changing my DNS servers, Removing all internet plugins, Firefox, running Safari in 32 bit mode, Terminal hacks...all to no avail. I recently was playing around with my desktop and changed the Name of my Mac HD. I then quit and reopened Safari and to my amazement this had solved the issue. Safari now running faster than ever before. Im not sure how exavtly it solves the issue but it sure worked for me.

I have a late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro 15" with, unfortunately, only 2GB RAM. My work requires a very intensive internet flash application that will usually max out my RAM, and in combination with certain other applications, my computer becomes so laggy that I cannot work.
This has me wondering... which browser is best for running intensive flash applications? I also like to run lots of random pages at once, so I'll do that as well, either in the same browser, or concurrently in a different one.

My new Macbook Pro 15" has stopped loading flash content. (it played it just fine about 2 days ago) I can get onto Youtube etc, but the videos themselves get stuck on the circular dots loading image.
I figured it might be a problem with one of my Firefox add-ons, so I disabled them all, to no avail. Then I tried Safari, and it won't work in safari either, or chrome or opera.
I tried installing Flash player, but when I click the download link, nothing happens. I tried multiple mirrors, but none of the links download anything.

I'm trying to read news sites and my eye is distracted by things bouncing around in adverts. It's even worse when they're playing obnoxious sounds until you click the mute button in them. Therefore I just thought I'd let people know about this wonderful piece of software. I've seen it mentioned a few times here but even if this thread only helps a few people I think it'll be worth it:[URL]Not only does it hide these horrific insults to humanity (ok a bit strong perhaps), it actually prevents them loading, therefore your pages load quicker! And it's completely unobtrusive! If you want to watch flash file, simply click on in.

I'm having more problems with my new MAC than I ever did with any PC! I loaded new fonts onto my MAC today and now when I go into Safari and browse the internet, all of the fonts on any website I go into have been changed into some ridiculous font! Why would this happen and how do I restore the default font settings?

I wonder if it has anything to do with enabling FileVault. Anyway, Everytime I logout, the default web browser keeps reverting to Safari, and the default Mail client reverts to Mail. I use Camino, Firefox and Thunderbird.

Sometimes I will be using Safari, particularly on Facebook, and Safari will randomly start refreshing the pages repeatedly over and over again without me doing anything. Anyone else have this problem? Any way to keep it from happening again? The only way I can get it to stop is by quitting Safari completely.

I have windows XP Operating System, and I have safari installed, but when I open the browser, it hangs and displays a blank white page (without finishing opening any websites). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this doesn't seem to work. Also, when I reinstall, all of my bookmarks and reading list are in tact. (although I think if it is officially uninstalled, then none of my bookmarks should be saved). Somehow, it seems to be saving the previous state of the last Safari installation whenever I reinstall.Â
