QuickTime :: Pro Will Not Open .wma (Error #2048)

I have a few .wma movie files that I have created in (the horrible) "Windows Live Movie maker".
I wanted to be able to play these files on my iTunes, so I foolishly purchased QuickTime Pro after reading the description. "QuickTime 7 Pro can convert your media to different formats, so you can watch a movie or video on your iPhone, iPod, and Apple TV..". But it refuses to open any .wma files so that I can convert them. I keep getting the error message #2048. I read somewhere that installing new codecs might help...?

I keep getting "Open error 18446744073709551594: “Unknown error: -22”" when trying to repair disk permissions. When I boot in recovery mode and try to repair the disk I get the message that the disk can't be repaired that I should back up my files and reformat. Since I hace been hearing about the Flashback trojan I am not sure if it is because my Mac is infected or simply because I somehow messed up with my HD. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Will it be any good to reinstall Lion? Is there any way of avoiding reformatting?

I'm on Windows 7 on a PC and when I want to open a .mov file in QT error: 46 appears and I can't continue. I've tried EVERYTHING (including reinstall different kinds of versions of QT) and have googled for hours... The most common answer is this: [URL] but it doesn't help either.

I can't export a certain project to QuickTime in iMovie, but I can export it to other formats. The iMovie error message is: The movie could not be exported because an error occurred. (Error = -5000)
What's strange is that I was exporting this project to QuickTime yesterday, made some changes and tried to export again, and no luck? Yet it'll export to mv4 etc. I repaired permissions etc, and still no luck. I'm assuming it's related to permissions, but I have no idea where to start.

As some of you may already know, I recently switched to the mac platform. One of my main reasons for switching was the fact that I couldn't see more than 50 percent of the graphics used by my colleagues and mentors in case presentations due to the dreaded "quicktime tiff decompressor" issues present in Windows. After numerous efforts of trying to resolve this issue on the Mac end, I gave up and ended up getting a Mac, to hopefully not experience the same issue. Obviously, I have realized that the mac has a lot more to offer, in the process.
However, here is my problem - I am getting the following error "Quicktime or a TIFF decompressor is needed to view this image" in Powerpoint 2008 in Mac OS X. I didn't expect this at all, and I was hoping that there may be a fix to it. I tried copying and pasting the image into word and that doesn't resolve the problem either. I tried opening up the presentation in Keynote 2009 but that doesn't seem to load these graphics either. Is there any photo application that I can use to test the picture? If any of you know how to resolve this issue, I will be very grateful for your advice. Again, I am new to the Mac OS platform so I would appreciate if your solutions included "baby steps"

I can't open quicktime player. I just downloaded the newest free version from the apple site. When I click open it says "could not open because the specified format is not supported" I think that is a problem with what opens it? Everything is set to open with Textedit, I don't remember how or why. How can I get quicktime to open?

I have a few h.264 -mp4/m4v files that QTX can't open, but Quickview and QT7 handles with ease. The files have been made using Handbrake.Examining the info windows in QT7 on one movie that does work and one that does not, does not tell me much. they seem pretty identical.Info copied from opened files in QT7.

I am trying to open something in Quicktime with ".mkv at the end. I could not so I tryed DIVX+ and it said this "You may need an additional audio decoder to play the soundtrack of this file. This file contains a track in the Dolby AC3 Audio (code "8192") format. You may need to install a QuickTime™ component for this audio format in order to hear the soundtrack of this file." Quicktime got corrupted, so i downloaded passifist and extracted it again from the install disk. the result was a complete quicktime that had all the files, but wouldnt open. How do i fix this? should i redownload mac OS X Lion to fix it or will it fix itself when mountain lion comes out?

Sometimes, I get e-mails that contain clips that show a QuickTime icon and the letters WMV. They used to open automatically when clicked on. For the last few months, they don't. I get an error message:The movie could not be opened. It has a QuickTime icon on a yellow triangle and an exclamation point.
If I drop the clips on the Windows Media Player icon in the dock, they do open. Not so on the QuickTime icon.
Evidently, I have done something that causes the clips not to open automatically as before.
I've checked both WMP and QT preferences, but I do not see anything, as far as I know, that would have caused the change.

I recorded a movie with isight-a very long one at that-around 3 hours. When I try to play back I receive error message "The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands." How to play? I have Quicktime Player 10 running from Snow Leopard. Inside the folder for the event in imovie it shows the movie file but with a zero kb size. Also has an imovie cache folder.

No matter what type of file (.avi or .mp4) I try to open, QT immediately goes to "Not Responding"... Software is completely up to date. I don't know what else to do... It won't let me trash QT to re-install but I think that's what I need to do.
