PowerPC :: Viewing Output Of 1366*768 Resolution / Upgrade Required?

Mar 17, 2007

I've got a 37" LG LC2D panel and a G5 PowerMac with dual DVI outputs. I just picked up a DVI->HDMI cable, expecting it output to a resolution of 1366*768. However, the only options I have are: 1024*768, 1280*720, and 1920*540 (which doesn't work). Is it not possible for the Mac to output to a 1366*768 resolution on the 256MB GeForce 6600 PCI Express? If not, what are my upgrade options?

PowerPC :: Running Powerbook At 1366 X 768 Resolution?

Dec 15, 2006

I recently bought a DVI-HDMI cable to connect my Powerbook (see sig) to my Sony LCD tv. THe Sony's max resolution is 1366 x 768 (pretty much standard for HD-ready tvs). I've been trying to get my powerbook to output that resolution so I get a full screen picture on the tv. However for some reason I keep getting stuck with 1280x720, which leaves some black bars all around.

I'm using SwitchResX where I input the resolution as a custom resolution. I then restarted as the software suggests, but it doesn't let me apply the resolution.

MacBook Pro :: 1366 X 768 Resolution LCD TV Settings?

Nov 20, 2007

So I plugged-in my MacBook Pro (from DVI) into my Westinghouse 32" 720p LCD TV (into HDMI) which has a native resolution of 1366 x 768.

When I open-up System Preferences > Display I get a window on my MBP and one on the TV. 1366 x 768 isn't listed in the available resolutions. Some of the ones listed show "Interlaced" between parenthesis. If I click on the highest resolution setting available 1920 x 1080, the image flickers a bit and it is visible.

If any of you have hooked up your iMacs in this way, could you inform me what resolutions you all have been able to achieve? My plaz can display up to 1080i.

PowerPC :: CPU Maxed Out When Viewing Youtube

Dec 8, 2009

I just upgraded my powerbook 1.5ghz g4 to 2 gb of ram. It runs multiply applications fine now. The only thing that I'm still disappointed with is when I am viewing videos on youtube or elsewhere my CPU maxes out and the video is all chopping.

I know it's old (6 years!) and I need a new computer (which I'm thinking of getting the 27" iMac i5) but I feel as if it should be able to view videos on youtube without being chopping and maxing out the CPU...

Jul 4, 2012

I upgraded my Mac Mini to Lion. When I go to the sound output, I still have two options:

* marantz-AVR (HDMI)

When I select the Marantz, it highlights in blue momentarily and then slides back to Headphones. It does not stay on the Marantz. I've restarted both units, unplugged cables, and the same. What do I do now? And, yes, everything worked perfectly just before my Lion upgrade.

PowerPC :: ATI Radeon Screen Resolution On G4

Sep 5, 2006

I have a 64MB ATI graphics card and can't get the screen resolution I want. It was fine and I had it set to how I like, until I plugged in an S-video cable to my T.V then all the settings changed and now I can't get back to the resolution I had before. I unplugged the cable and tried to change them but still no luck. When I select the desired resolution it makes the screen tiny in the middle of the monitor. The resolution is fine on the T.V. I have a real pet hate of low screen resolutions which is all I can use at the moment. I bought the card on ebay but think it is a PC "flashed" to MAC as the factory drivers CD is PC and MAC drivers are on a cd-r. Is there any way I can clear the memory of the card or the files that the card uses so I can "restore" it to how it was before I connected the s-video. It also asked me in the ATI app (the first time I opened it with the T.V connected) if I wanted to have the connection to the T.V as always on. I removed the app and reinstalled but it seems to have remembered the settings and doesn't ask this again. Is there any way to change it back so it doesn't remember?

PowerPC :: Screen Resolution - I28 / 64 MB Of VRAM

Jan 8, 2007

I'm honing in on the purchase of a powerbook. One area that has me a bit confused is the screen resolution of the 15" models. I can see two models that look identical in specs (apart from one having 128Mb of VRAM and the other 64. both are 9700 cards). Anyway one ad says it is 1280x854 widescreen and the other says it is 1440x960 widescreen. I can see these are the same proportions and maybe the 1280x854 can be set at 1440x960. The 1440 one is about 6 months old and the other one is about a year older so maybe some specs were changed. My question is, are these two different resolutions meant to be the native resolution on each machine respectively? Or do they both have the same native resolution and are just set up differently.

PowerPC :: Powerbook To 32" HD LCD Resolution?

Feb 6, 2007

Having got a new MBP courtesy of Continental who caused 1500 of damage to my PB 17" 1.5GHz, I wasnt ready to throw my PB in the bin. The screen is broken and the case is badly damaged ...but it still works (with an external screen). I want to use my old PB as a media centre on my TV with internet access. A prehistoric Apple TV, if you will.

I have a 32" LCD HDTV and used a DVI-D -> HDMI connector to connect up the PB. The initial screen did not fill the entire TV screen and had inches of black frames around it. There were lines across the desktop which distorted images and text.

I have used SwitchResX to try and find a suitable resolution. After days of trying various resolutions and fiddling around with the settings, I have had to settle for 1024x768. The TV resolution is 1366 x 1080, but any resolution involving 1080 comes up with those distortion lines and does not fill the entire screen.

With the 1024x768 setting, I lose any distortion, but the icons etc are enormous ...which isnt necessarily a bad thing. However I would like it so I could have a higher resolution as one window can monopolise the screen - which becomes a bit annoying.

This 1024x768 setting also exceeds the TV screen real estate so the top OS bar (apple sign, File, Edit...) is clipped off, the bottom 1cm is lost and i lose about 2cms on both sides of the desktop.

Is there anyway in which i can have a more defined resolution, without loss of screen real estate and without any distortion? Or will my Powerbook graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM) not support a higher resolution?
