I have had the illuminated keyboard since day one. I am pretty upset that the basic macbook does not have this feature. Anyone think I could just get topcase from the upgraded macbook? Anyway to get just the keyboard from an Air?

What's the consensus on the MacBook keyboard in terms of ease & comfort of use? I write for a living so a good keyboard is pretty essential. I've always been mostly satisfied with my powerbook keyboard, it's pretty comfortable although I occasionally mash a neighbouring button with my big clumsy fingers. The MacBook keyboard looks a little... weird. How is it?
I have a bluetooth wireless Apple keyboard and magic mouse combo. I bought a Power Mac Dual G5 from a friend just to "play" with as my friend needed money badly. In fact, I am letting him buy it back if he comes up with the money within a year - forget the fact that I loaned way more than it's worth, but I just want to see if I can play with it to get something for my terrible investment.
I don't have a wired keyboard and mouse for it. He told me it has bluetooth AirPort card installed in it. When I try starting up, all I get is the grey screen with the Apple logo and spinning circle thing. I had hoped it would just "auto sense" my Apple bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse, but it doesn't appear to be. But is there any way to have it automatically find my bluetooth keyboard and mouse or do I need a wired keyboard and mouse to even start it up?
Is the MacBook Pro keyboard the same as the 12-inch PowerBook one? It feels a bit different, but the measuremeants are the same and I urgently need to swap my MBP one out.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, a couple weeks ago, I was biting my nails with the PB on my lap (yeah, I know...), and one fell underneath the Enter key on the right side. Now, I'm very OCD about all things relating to the PB, which is why that kinda pissed me off. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I went and bought some compressed air.
This was my first time using compressed air, and it didn't really help with the fingernail (if anything, it pushed it farther down and closer to the mini fan vents right by the keys). It did, however, bring a LOT of other crap up to the surface, and now I'm determined to get this sucker cleaned.
Is there a way to turn on the light in the keyboard even if there is enough light to keep it off?

I have a cat and I try to vacuum the keyboard to get the cat hair out..but it tends to get hooked on all the keys and then sticks up and doesnt get sucked into the vacuum. Does anybody else have this issue when cleaning the keyboard? I know this probably sounds odd.
Would like to know if anybody has any tips on how to clean the keyboard successfully of all cat hair lol.
I don't use my Powerbook G4 much anymore but spontaneously 1/3 of the keyboard is sticky and sounds crinkly. I didn't spill anything on it, I'm the only one who uses it and I live alone.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHave a iMac G5 with built in BT. I used it downstairs yesterday and took it back to the spare room where it usually is used. Fired it up today and I find that the BT mouse is fine BUT it ignores the keyboard. I tried; Replacing batteries. Checked that the suspect keyboard worked on my mac mini (it did). Tried my other BT keyboard on the iMac same problem. So, why does it recognise the mouse but not the keyboard? I do not have a USB Keyboard, so now I cannot Log in to fix it! I am guessing that the pairing has gone BUT surely it would simply see the keyboard as a new one and start setting it up. Something is stopping keyboards working with BT, very strange - could a loose BT module cause this? Or will I have to buy a USB Keyboard now to use my iMac?

(i believe the Aluminium Powerbooks and the MacBook Pros are using the SAME keyboard, so which one you like best? my girlfriend had an ibook and the keyboard was "alright", better than ALL the PC keyboards out there, but i had an AlPowebook and that keyboard was BLISS!! i currently own a Blackbook and i REALLY dig the keyboard, but the powerbook's keyboard was by far the coolest/easiest/most confortable keyboard EVER.

I have a PowerMac G5 2.0Ghz Dual Processor system that I m using with the newer slim Apple Keyboard and Apple Optical mouse. When I try to "wake" the G5 from sleep with either the mouse or keyboard, it wakes up, and simply goes back into sleep mode, however, if I "wake" the G5 from the power button it remains awake.

This initially made me question the CD. But I then realised I wasn't able to eject it by holding fn and f12. Also the caps light wouldn't toggle on and off when I hit it, though I am unsure if this light works when there is no OS installed. My question is: is the keyboard not working?

Will an 80gb hard drive work?? because I thought that they are only capable of 6gb hard drives, or is that the default controller for the Blue & White Power Macintosh Desktop?? And also am I correct in thinking that if this hard drive will work for this Bronze Keyboard, I will have to partition it for every OS I have on it. ?? Because the operating system has to be in the first 10gb of the volume, or the files might become "lost" and the operating system unusable?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi splashed some theraflu on the right side of the keyboard approximately 3 days ago. as many had mentioned, i removed the keyboard and carefully removed any liquid residue i could find and kept my computer off for a few days. today i went to figure out the damage and everything seems to work okay in terms of the computer turning on and stuff. the keyboard is still acting up though. the left side of the keyboard works mostly okay, but if i press certain letters, the number along with random number appears. the right side of the keyboard, on the other hand, several keys don't even respond at all. from these "symptoms" do you guys think the only thing that i may have to replace is the keyboard or could these "symptoms" i've described be related to some other damage also? how much does replacing a keyboard usually cost? i'm thinking this isn't going to be covered by my warranty. lastly, i've noticed that when i do turn the computer on, it automatically starts in safe-mode.

When I bought this PowerBook, someone spilled soda into the PowerBook's keyboard, and everything on this computer works fine, except for the letters S, W, and Z.
If you pull the keys off, You can see the soda marks, I know with desktop keyboards, you can clean this and it would be fine, however, this has the keys that light up, so I do not know. What should I do besides pay $250 for a new keyboard from Apple?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy friend just got a 1.25GHz MDD but he says he is having problems with it. He says that when he starts it up, his mouse light (sensor) flickers and the keyboard does not work. The only way to fix this is to unplug and replug in the peripherals. He also tried on his Studio Display connected via ADC and the same thing happens. Could a PCI USB card help his problems or is there some way to fix the current USB ports?

I was just handed down an old imac g3 400mhz desktop that doesn't power at all.When hitting the power button on the unit or keyboard, the units screen makes a noise. No hard drive or green light comes on at all. At dead silence in the room, i can hear the screen flicker, like a tv would come on. I went to go about and read a few problems before, replaced the battery and even tried a new power cord. Any Ideas?
