Im looking for any directions on a mod that will enable my pb to act like a Mac Book Pro with the two finger trackpad ctrl click function. Or an actual second button hardware Mod.
View 11 RepliesI don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem, but it's driving me nutts. The trackpad button has done this once before where it would be real loud when you click it. There's a lot of play in it and sometimes clicks twice but only the second click registers... it's hard to explain.
The first time this happened it went awhile after a days use. However, now it's doing it again and it's been a few days now and it's so anoying!
Recently my powerbook g4 aluminum 15" won't wake from sleep mode, and i can't turn it off with the button. When the computer does turn off the only way i can get it back on is to open it up and reset the logic board by disconnecting the back up battery for a little bit. I've tried reseting the PMU,

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 12" PowerBook G4 (the very last revision in 2006) and I've never had issues with the bluetooth before (although I've only ever used it to move a few pictures from my phone to my laptop occasionally). This week, I bought a wireless mighty mouse and connected it no problem. Yesterday was the first day I used it and it worked like a champ all day. Today, I was using it and in the middle of moving it around, it just stopped responding. My trackpad still works fine, but the cursor stops moving with the mouse, the clicker doesn't work, etc. When I turn the mouse off for a minute and then turn it back on, it works for a few minutes and then quits again. The first thing I tried was to swap batteries, but that didn't help. Neither did a restart.

I recently purchased a sort of beat up 1.5GHz 12" PowerBook G4, top of the line, and it arrived today. It boots up normally when the apple appears, then it shows the blue screen and then the mouse turns into a spinning wheel. Also, when I move the cursor, a second cursor from the same spot stays in the top-left corner. The PowerBook will only work normally as a headless server (powers on, lid closed), unless booted in safe mode. Another issue is the screen. The seller said there were lines going up and down the screen, but it varies depending on what is displayed on the screen. If the screen is grey or in target-disk mode, they do not appear, but on the 10.5 standard desktop pic, it changes pattern. The lines can be seen here: [URL]
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MB's trackpad button is spoilt, I think there's something wrong with the spring which makes it unclickable and sometimes remains pressed.
Is there anyway to disable only the trackpad button but not the whole trackpad? Tapping still works, but the MB mistakens it as dragging sometimes because the button is stuck as a pressed button.
the problem is that when I push the power button, nothing at all happens. I've tried it with the battery only, the power cord only, and both the battery and the power cord. Also, the power cord lights up green, even though the battery is almost completely dead.
I have tried a different power cord, with the same results. Unfortunately, I am still trying to get a hold of another battery, so I haven't tried that yet. I have already tried a PMU reset (holding the power button for 5 seconds with power and battery removed), and that doesn't do anything either. Any ideas on what is wrong, or what I should do to find out? The warranty's expired, and I'm rather comfortable working with electronics, so feel free to suggest doing stuff inside the machine.
I would like to know if there is a CPU / Processor upgrade option for my laptop. I am max'd out 640 MB of RAM and the processor is heating up often. I am running Leopard 10.5.8
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am the owner of an Aluminum Macbook from '08, and I haven't had any issues with my Macbook until recently. I've found that recently, my trackpad has become less and less responsive to clicking and dragging, and it actually got to a point where it would not respond at all (had to hook up a wired mouse). The actual movement of the cursor and multi-finger gestures work perfectly fine though. Has anyone else had this issue? I just wanted to get a general idea before I call up Applecare. Nothing has been spilt on Macbook.

I have it set up in System Preferences to sleep the computer, but when you tap the button the Sleep, Shutdown, or Restart dialogue pops up (same one you get if you press the power button on the laptop).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been using a Wacom Bamboo for a while now and always have it in Mouse mode.
Since I upgraded my iMac to SnowLeopard, the Bamboo Pen/Mouse mode always resets back to Pen Mode after I have booted my iMac which is verrrry annoying - especially since I have a dual-monitor setup!
I have already tried to install the latest drivers for the Bamboo but this has not resolved my problem.
Has anyone else seen this problem and possibly know how to solve it?
Our display flickers on one side and has multicolored vertical bars running down the left side at best, or the whole screen greys out over the top of the graphical display, is physically no longer fully attached on that side near the hinge (you can press it down quite a bit after it has been closed), and the aluminum clamshell seems like it's warped. The bottom access panel has become no longer a smooth fit - it sticks up a few millimeters at the gap instead of being flat. We used to be able to hold the back left side and the screen would work, now we have been sitting it on a wooden structure with a back support and pushing it against that so we can see the screen for the past year or two. Now the flickering vertical bars are getting worse and the wooden support doesn't always work, and as an added bonus, the trackpad recently stopped working (it no longer 'clicks' and acts like it's constantly pressed down, so we have to use an external mouse with it). It's pretty frustrating because we've babied this thing (it's never been dropped or abused and has only left the house like twice, and one of those times was to take it in to see about this very problem!) and it seems like it's a manufacturing defect, but of course we never had AppleCare and this powerful expensive beast is now a desktop computer with a super hard to see screen. I've been told we need to pay $400 to get a whole new clamshell.

Suddenly my new macbook aluminium have started to wake up from sleep mode when the lid is down. It goes into sleep, and then it wakes up again and back to sleep and wakes up again. I have tried to restart SMC, and i have unchecked bluetooths ability to wake up the computer and the ethernets ability to do so.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is an early 2008 MBP, so I have a button separate from the track pad. For the last several days it has been most of the time clicking twice when I press it. The first one doesnt do anything, the second one actually clicks (that is, if I dont push it all the way down it clicks the first time and doesnt do anything, if i push it harder, it clicks the second time).
What can I do about this?
So, first of all, here's some advice: Don't leave your macbook open, on the floor. You never know what cups you've left there.
In other news, I spilled coke (the soda) on my macbook keyboard/trackpad. I put it on the floor because I thought that it would keep it cooler, since I was installing something and the fans were going *******.
The keys seem fine, but now the trackpad button has a sticky feeling and sound to it, which is very annoying/disconcerting. Is this a genius bar job, or can I get in there and clean it myself?
It's mostly cosmetic, as the trackpad still works, but I wonder what will happen as the coke starts a new life under there congealing and whatever.
So I'm using my air today and when I press the trackpad button slightly, it makes a clicking noise... of course, not the click it makes when you fully press it. Hard to explain the sound, but before it really recognizes the function, it makes a sound like an external mouse click. sorry if this doesn't make sense... hard to explain.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy MBA's trackpad button is weird, i bought the computer brand new and from day one the button seems to be a little off. You can click it but sometimes you have to work really hard to keep it clicked. i.e. if i'm dragging a window sometimes it just stops holding the window. Also double clicking is difficult and clicking on different parts of the button is difficult. Do you think it's enough to take it in to the bar?

If I click in sons text it just keeps highlighting as I move, if I click the bachround it wants to just keep making a box. The only wY u can get it to stop is to hold down power till it shuts off. Everything else works like normal, but the MacBook acts like I am holding the button down.

I'm a long-time Mac user, on Macs exclusively since 1987, so no stranger to the platform.
I was checking out the MacBook Air (Apple Store and Best Buy), and noticed something about the trackpad.
It has the "button" at the bottom. But - try as I might - I could not configure it to do a "right click" (that is to say, press "towards the right" on the button to display a contextual menu).
I was able to go to the "trackpad" preference, and was able to set up the "two-finger touch" to invoke the "right click". But there seems to be no way to use the right end of the trackpad button itself to do this.
Is this correct, or did I miss something?
By comparison, it is easy to set up the MacBook Pro to do a right-click, even with its "buttonless" trackpad.
But this feature seems missing from the MB Air.
Is it?

I am leaving for a week long trip and many parts of it will not be able to run the computer off of the powercord, which is a problem because I get about 40mins of wordprocessing use out of it when I run the battery alone. Can someone explain what the significance of these levels are for my Powerbook G4 15'' (Alm) 1.25GHz, namely the cycle count and full charge/remaining capacity?
