i want to give a friend one of my PowerBook G4 computers. It is currently running Tiger 10.4 and I want to delete all personal content before I pass it on. I do not have an install disc, so I am not sure on how to accomplish a clean wipe without deleting the OS.

I recently came across a very interesting article on how to view Blu-Ray content on a Mac. Having tried it, I can say that it seems to work (although you only get the main movie, no menus and such). It's a fairly simple method, and I imagine that, in time, even easier and better solutions will come about.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to backup my DVD. It has 8.1GB of content. I tried doing a disk copy before and it failed at the 400MB mark. Then I used Mac the Ripper and did a full extraction to my MacBook Pro. Then I used Titanium Toast 10.0.6 to try writing another CD.
This time it went farther but failed at the 27% mark. I don't know what to do. Do I have a bad batch of Blank dual layer dvds? I bought them at the apple store 3 years ago. They are made by Verbatim 8.5GB blanks. Any one know whats wrong? Below are screen shots of the error it giving me.

It doesn�t play 720p HD youtube smoothly. Jerky not coz of internet connection as I have 10 Mbps and up.
My question is 2.13 MBA able to handle 720p?
If the next MBA uses i7 (according to Scottdale), will that handle 720p? How about 1080p?
Or maybe 1.86 can handle HD, but I need to optimize it?
Just purchased a new iMac and want to transfer all my files, pictures etc. from my older iMac to the new one. When I use the migration assistant I get as far as it asking me for a passcode of the new computer?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a very bad moment right now.I have nearly 4TB of content,movies, music apps..etc.I have not made any changes to my MAC, I installed the latest version of iTunes when it came out.Everyhthing was working perfectly fine, until tonight, simply upon closing Itunes and reopening,my iTunes was like it was just installed, there is no content in my library, (Everything in my external HD's, just not on itunes) only the three tabs that show content that come enabled by default are on. It is as if I had just installed Itunes..
My nearly 10,000 ratings are gone, playlists, and playcounts from two years. anybody give me some insight into how to readd my content without losing my valubable information that I just listed.I repeat, I have not installed or made any changes in weeks, it just happened upon closing and reopening.

I have a MacBook Air (Mid 2011), and the latest version of iTunes installed (10.6).In the last version of iTunes I had been unable to play HD content, which was a problem experienced by many people. I got round it by opening iTunes in 32bit mode, starting to play the HD file, and then going back into 64bit mode, and the content would work. When 10.6 stated that you could know play 1080 content, this excited me because I thought that my problem would be over! However, iTunes still won't play any of my HD content purchased from the iTunes Store! It just comes up with an error message saying that Quicktime is required to play this file and iTunes doesn't support Quicktime.

Is there a way to see the content that's been uploaded to iCloud? I want to delete and add additional content, but don't know of a way to see the 'clould' as a folder. I guess as Apple as done away with iDisk (where this was possible) it was just a good method of being able to visually confirm what's there and what isn't.

I have a ton of material in the itunes store which I have not downloaded because I decided to save space on my drive, and use the streaming cloud option instead. I have the iTunes preferences setup as: Show iTunes in the cloud purchases
I have the iTunes View setup as: Show movies in the cloud However all my cloud content (links) has disappeared. I can only see what is physically downloaded. The artwork with the little cloud banner is not there anymore.

Alright so I've delt with the smaller text on the HR AG and for the most part am okay with it. I'd rather have a standard res mate screen but thats neither here nor there.
So I noticed that the screen size of text elements while viewing flash content is very small. I was drafting my fantasy team this past weekend and really had to look hard to read everything. You cant enlarge or shrink the browser window like you can with HTML pages by pinching/pulling on the track pad.
Is there some setting I can adjust to make flash content not be so tiny.
I am not very computer savvy and just got an external hard drive to store my itunes on. I now have all my music movies and such on there. I would like to hook my mac formatted hard drive up to my ps3 to view these things. However the PS3 does not recognize it. How do I get it to recognize it and let me view this content?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWell i finally decided to go ahead and subscribe to Netflix for the streaming service because I was thinking about getting Apple TV tomorrow. So ive been trying it out on the website. Im having one issue. When i go to all the HD content and try to play it, itll only stream in SD and not in HD. I have the check mark checked to allow it to stream in HD. But it still says not playing in HD. My internet connection is fine. I did a speedtest just to confirm my internet was doing ok and i got 14.14MBPS down and 1.48MBPS up, and this is on AT&T Uverse. anyone have any ideas. I def dont want to get apple tv if i cant stream HD. Ive tried Safari and Firefox. No difference.

The space is very limited on the work computers otherwise I would have kept it on there. I go home and tell iTunes to get my newest downloads, and it only downloads the Standard Definition version of the show I purchased.

I updated MacJournal, and to my horror, see nearly all the notes in multiple journals BLANK�two years� worth of notes just gone. The page titles are still there, but no content. The data is critically important to my business. Where is it? How do I get it back? FYI: I�ve been on the road for work, which means no Time Capsule backups for the past week. While on the road, I�ve been constantly working on four pages in one Journal�these, plus maybe four others in different journals still show data. My guess is that restoring from an older backup will mean sacrificing newer data...which is not an option. I�ve dug through Mariner Software�s forums and blogs, but can�t find anything (other than angry posts from people saying Mariner is horrible about responding to problems....great. This is a nightmare.

I have two machines. A dual 1.8ghz G5 with 5gb ram. And a new 2.66ghz macbook pro with 4gb ram and 7200rpm drive. For everyday use, the Macbook is faster, but not by much and I prefer to just use the G5 because of the bigger screen. However, the G5 is mainly my media center (store all of my movies and TV shows on it). I really like HD and the Macbook will run 1080P without a problem, but the G5 will only run 720P, and only some at that. Some 720P videos it will skip with. It is a solid machine, (I know they are older, but it really is not bad, and is there anyway I can make it handle all 720P smoothly?
For storage, searching the web, and watching movies, this computer is still great. But more and more things are in HD now and it is a bummer having some of them skip a few times when watching.
When using the ipad and clicking all inboxes option, I'm getting erroneous emails that have no content, they can't be deleted, and various dates.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was temporarily using my MAcBook Air as the family media server while our iMac was being repaired. To do so, I plugged in the external drive that is home to all our music, movies and tv shows. Now that the iMac is fixed, I set it back up as the server, plugging the iTunes drive into it and resetting AppleTV to work with it. Now to my question: All the content that had been on the iTunes external drive is now listed, but missing in iTunes. Obviously. Short of having to delete every file one at a time, is there any way to remove everything that is "missing" all at once? I'd like to only keep a few songs on my laptop, and keep the lists of what I have very tidy, hence the need to delete everything iTunes can't find.
