Mac OS X Lion Server :: Why Purchase Server AND Client When Already Bought Lion Client

Apr 26, 2012

When I try to purchase the Lion Server from the App Store it displays a message that OS X Lion is also required uand I have to purchase both even when I am logged in and next to the Server item the client version confirms that I have already purchased it with a "download" button - the app has been downloaded but cannot install it as it is waiting for the app store to download the server components... and what if I just want to use it as a client only? Any suggestions besides the obvious $80 purchase.

OS X :: FTP Client Like Cute FTP?

Apr 23, 2008

I recently switched to a Mac because the marketing is definitely works and after using one at College I've become accustomed to them so in words, I love them!I'm happy with the alternative programs so far, all but a decent FTP client. I'm a website designer and I usually used CuteFTP which I thought was the best one I'd ever used so I was constantly using it. After getting my Mac I only assumed I'd get the same program but was very disappointed that it was completely different and very basic, nothing of it's PC version

Anyone know what the best Torrent Client is for OSX? I'm using Azureus/Vuze 3.x because that's what I've always used. Any better ideas or is that my best option? Also, anyone know how to tweak it to: Increase speed & stop torrents from resetting my iNet connection on my Router?

Applications :: VNC Client With Zoom For OS X?

Nov 27, 2010

I've been using quite happily TightVNC on windows to connect my MP. Now I'm using MBP, so is there any decent VNC client for OsX where you can define zoom by % or slider. Preferably free or cheap. Apple's "Screen sharing" offers only scaling on or off, which are for me either too small or too big.

Applications :: Versions SVN Client For Mac?

Jun 25, 2008

when I was out trying to set up a development environment on my Mac. (SVN, Bug Tracking, etc.)

It's called Versions, and it's still in beta, but it seems really stable, and it's one of the best SVN clients I've ever used. I have no affiliation with the company or product at all, so this isn't a plug. I've just been using it constantly to manage some Xcode projects and a few other important documents between Macs, and I thought I'd share.

OS X :: Possible To Connect Mac To PC Using VPN Secure Client?

Mar 4, 2009

I'm looking to buy a new computer and want to upgrade to a Mac. However, I need to be able to connect my home computer to my work desktop since I work from home. The Corp. help desk says I can't do it, but they're also not IT professionals so I'm not ready to take their word for it. Here's what I'm using.

VPN Secure Client NGX R60 HFA2 (Build 001)
Remote Desktop
Work Desktop - Windows XP Pro

Searching the internet, I get the feeling that NGX R60 refers to the PC (Windows) version and NGX R65 refers to the Mac version. If I use Boot Camp, can I switch to Windows mode and connect that way? Is it a terrible PITA to do?

OS X Technologies :: How To Configure 10.7 To Act As A NIS/NFS Client

Jun 27, 2012

I am trying to setup OS X 10.7 Lion to work as an a NIS/NFS client but without too much success so far. I posted the question originally on [url] but got not feedback yet, so I decided to test the "official" help-yourself solution. It seems that automount fails to mount my NIS shares on mac:

2012-06-27 11:15:42.254 BST - 1801.4096 - Client: Directory Utili, UID: 501, EUID: 501, GID: 20, EGID: 20

2012-06-27 11:15:42.254 BST - 1801.4096, Node: /NIS/uk.example.com, Module: nis - could not determine map for rectype 'mounts' attribute 'byname' Does anyone have an ideea why this is happening? Does anyone have a working Lion connected to NIS ?  Module: nis - could not determine map for rectype 'mounts' attribute 'byname' Commands like the ones below do work, and return the same on both Ubuntu and OS X, but still OS X fails to automount them.ypcat auto.groupsypcat auto.homeypcat passwd  I was able to manually mount one of the NFS exports but because the setup is complex I do need to make automount works.

Applications :: Looking For CISCO Any Connect VPN Client

Nov 3, 2010

So I was using the older CISCO VPN client and now need the CISCO Anyconnect client as well. Anyconnect would not install, it kept telling me that there was already a newer version installed already? So I thought maybe it was the older CISCO VPN client (that I will also need later) so I used APpZapper to remove it. I am still getting that error message when the installer gets to the disk selection screen.

Has anyone seen this before? I have no clue where to go from here.

Applications :: Better Client For Gmail Than Mail.app?

Jan 7, 2011

I've been using Mail.app for my gmail accounts for quite a while now - but it seems that Mail just isn't designed for gmail. For example - when I search for a message, each message will appear two or more times (located in Inbox & All Mail, not inc. any labels), archiving messages isn't exactly easy, and deleting messages doesn't quite.. delete messages.

Is there a way to make Mail.app more friendlier towards Gmail accounts or is there a better client for Mac for Gmail accounts?

OS X :: Tiger Built In VPN Client Hangs

Jan 19, 2007

For my job I have to VPN into our server--primarily to run RDC, but also to manage the Macs on the network (the company that set up the VPN provides the service for the PCs). When VPNing in on a Windows machine (and in Parallels), the connection is solid--no freezing whatsoever. Using Tiger's built-in VPN client, however, is frustrating as hell. It invariably hangs or times out if I leave it idle for between 15 seconds to a minute.

When it hangs I can usually disconnect and then reconnect again immediately (althugh it will remain as flaky as ever). I do not yet know all the details of the VPN on the server (a Windows 2003 server machine). I have a call in to the support company and am waiting for a response. In the meantime, however, I was wondering if others have tackled this problem with any success.

Applications :: Recommendations For Finding A SIP/IAX Client For Mac?

Oct 31, 2008

I have a shiny new macbook and i need a good software phone that supports either SIP or IAX (prefer both) is reliable and can record calls. It would also be nice if it has support for G729.

So far I've found ZoIPer Business, which will set me back 36GBP($58 USD). I'm a bit wary of purchasing it, as I've used ZoIPer FREE and it seems to crash sometimes (i.e. it wont cleanly exit)

I've also tried X-Lite although this also seems very buggy and havent been able to make a successful call.

Is there something someone can recommend that they've used? or should i shutup and buy ZoIPer & not complain about the price?
