I recently purchased two books on CD that contain Word.doc and .pdf files. When I load the disks into my MacBook optical drive, the computer just ejects them without any message or code. I have both Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word installed on my computer. What can I do?

As I am sure you all know text edit sucks.But it automatically opens all my RTFs.I have to manually get word to open them which is a pain in the ass.How can I fix this so that all RTF's are automatically opened by WORD?I am still on the old version of word because I have to use ENDNOTE - which has no support for Word 2011 right now. I have a copy of 2011 sitting on my desk and I am itching to use it, but I will loose 200+ citations if I do.

I'm working on an iMac, OS 10.5.8. My log folder is full of asl files. I'm not a program-savvy person and need plain language. I've gotten as far as to put the many log files into a temp folder on my desktop. Now I see instructions to "read them at my leisure" but can't find out how to read these files to determine what's causing the rapid multiplication. How do I "read" these logs to determine where the problem lies?

Once the installation was done, I was able to access my laptop without any problem and I retrieved all my files from the USERS Folder. I tried to copy my old files to the external disk, before formatting the system’s internal drive and reinstalling OS X.

I am trying to insert multiple pictures at once into a word document, on office for mac 2011. I am using the 'insert picture' option from the toolbar. Shift-click doesn't work like on a PC, and I have tried a variety of button combinations that don't seem to have any effect! View 15 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to a new Mac Mini which has OSX Lion, Version 10.7.3. I don't use the admin login for security reasons, I'm using a separate user login. When I want to modify a document (delete a document/folder or move a document into a folder) I have to type in the admin login every time. I've looked in the Get Info window of some, and the Sharing and Permissions all say Read Only.
Why are all my files Read Only? Is there a way to make everything in my login Read and Write without manually changing them all individually?
