I am trying to insert multiple pictures at once into a word document, on office for mac 2011. I am using the 'insert picture' option from the toolbar. Shift-click doesn't work like on a PC, and I have tried a variety of button combinations that don't seem to have any effect! Is there any way around this so I don't have to insert picture files into a word document one at a time?

I have a folder called 'text books' and within that folder I have 100 more folders named by author. Inside the folders are .txt files of their work. Is there any way I can select all the .txt docs and paste them in one big folder? In other words, is there a way of removing all the sub-folders and putting all the .txt files together in one place?

Often I need to select multiple separate items from a large folder of them; I use list view, and command-click on each item, and then drag the whole batch to the appropriate location. It appears that in Snow Leopard (unlike previous OS X versions), when if I scroll down the list to select further items, it jumps back to the top-most selected item after a couple seconds. This makes it completely impossible to select further items! Is there a preference to turn this "function" off? Why would anyone want such a thing? Even if it is what the Finder is meant to do, it seems implemented poorly, since if I grab the scrollbar slider and drag it down below my selected items, after the couple seconds the view jumps back to the topmost item, but the slider doesn't move. All it all, it feels like a glitch.

i'm having trouble assigning MULTIPLE pieces of album art to MULTIPLE tracks SIMULTANEOUSLY. i see that i can add multiple arts to a single track by:
.. selecting a single track by highlighting -> get info -> artwork tab
.. selecting and playing a single track (so that the speaker icon appears to the left of the track in the playlist; paused or not) -> dragging artwork into the artwork pane in itunes; artwork gets added only to the track with the speaker icon regardless of which track(s) are highlighted. if there is existing artwork, new art gets added (does not replace old art).
also, adding a single piece of art to multiple tracks can be done by: selecting tracks by highlighting -> get info -> info tab -> artwork field (note: artwork FIELD within info TAB of 'get info' dialog, not artwork tab).....................
I switched to Mac Mail and I can't get it to do something I used all the time in Entourage: you can insert an image in the background, then write over it. I can't imagine Mac Mail would not have that capability, but ...

Clarification: I lost the original cd so i just have this backed up image, so the image is legit.I just wanted to play this game and i dont wanna have to go buy the disk again.

Below is the text of "Preview Help-Taking a picture of a menu". I can't get the picture of a drop-down menu, for instance in Safari>Window>drop down menu.I?ve tried various ways of following the instructions. each time I end up with a screenshot of the entire computer window (which does include the drop down menu, but then to get a picture of just the drop down menu I would have to select the drop down menu, which is just another stop in the proces. What I want is just the Safari list of open Safari windows below ?

Under Leopard and prior, in List view you can highlight a line by selecting anywhere on the line. However, to actually select the file to drag it, etc, you had to select the file name itself, clicking the date etc wouldn't allow you to drag the file.
Well, in Snow Leopard, you can now select anywhere on the line and it will allow you to drag the file(s). Pretty nice.
However.....this causes a weird UI issue. If the window you are working in is small enough so that the items in list view fill it up completely (so there is a scroll bar), you can no longer right click on any empty space or the date/filesize etc to pull up the contextual menu for example to create a New Folder.
If there is empty space below the file list, then it still allows you to right click to get the menu.
I don't know what I've pressed on my keyboard and now whenever I type something on the document, bullets will appear on the left and the blue thingy will always end on the right *points at the screencap above*
I tried "clear formatting" but the blue thingy remains on the right! *points on the lower half of the picture*
does anyone know how to select a group of files to then get the total size of the group. ever since i upgraded to snow leopard, whenever i select a group of files and then click on info, i get separate windows for every file and then must add them up separately.

My university wants us all to use RTF files. As I am sure you all know text edit sucks.But it automatically opens all my RTFs.I have to manually get word to open them which is a pain in the ass.How can I fix this so that all RTF's are automatically opened by WORD?I am still on the old version of word because I have to use ENDNOTE - which has no support for Word 2011 right now. I have a copy of 2011 sitting on my desk and I am itching to use it, but I will loose 200+ citations if I do.

I'm not 100% sure so I guess it would be a good time to verify, is there a problem with having the system try to TAR multiple folders at one time? If it is not a problem then I guess this discussion itself is pointless and I can simple right click on each folder and select "TAR Folder" and just wait until they're all finished. I would think that it would be ideal for the system to do each one individually and not try to do them all at one time.
little word bug, that there is in the finder menu, when using the Danish language. First there is the grayed out "Ordn" that needs to be "Orden" and then there is the highligted "Ordn efter" that should be "Orden efter". Just wanted to le you know so you can make a better product.

In documents, sometimes a .doc file sent with a logo image above text will display the text, but the logo displays only as a border around an empty box. Yet when I send it to anyone else, the logo I can't see appears in the file for them. In some .doc files, I will be able to see different logo images fine. But about half the time, logo images will only display as an empty box.

My Open With... menu has multiple entries of apps. Example; Right click .avi file, open with... VLC, Quicktime, Other, VLC, Quicktime, Other and over and over it goes. I have rebuilt the LaunchServices database with Onyx, and this didn't work. I have also deleted the LaunchServices.plist file.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI am running Win7 using 3 monitors, with Ultramon to manage the monitors. I want to switch to a Mac but am worried about the lack of a menubar on each monitor. On my Win7 PC, each monitor has it's own app running, maximized to the size of the monitor. So I'll have 3 instances of Firefox running, 1 on each monitor, or 2 Firefox and 1 Word, or Firefox, iTunes and Ableton Live each on it's own monitor. I want to do the same on the Mac and have the menubar for each program on each monitor. This question has been asked in the past, but all the discussions are older. Just wondering if there have been any recent developments or if anyone thinks this will be addressed in the near future. There's a program called Secondbar, but that only works on 2 monitors--it adds a second menubar. [URL]..........
