Time machine doesn't work after I did the 10.7.4 update. Error message says disk is in read only mode. Tried to repair disk preferences, and this did not work.

My time machine backup isnt working for the last few months. The backup is located on a QNAP TS-670.
I can look for the TM and the iMac see the TM, but if I start the backup, a popup comes up. "The image of the backup-volume "/Volume/TMBackup/Danielas iMac.sparsebundle" cant be accessed. (Error -1)
Maybe it is not the exact error message in english, but I hope you know what I mean. Im working on a german system.
I can access the TM-Share through the finder (share: afp://[...]).
Here is the log I've got from the terminal: Danielas-iMac:~ danielawendling$ tail -f /var/log/system.log |grep backupJun 6 14:43:36 Danielas-iMac.local com.apple.backupd[323]: Failed to eject volume /Volumes/TMBackup (FSVolumeRefNum: -105; status: -47; dissenting pid: 0)

I upgrade to Lion after being told that it would upgrade my iLife to iLife 11. But that doesn't seem to be the case.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI excluded folders in options in the Time Machine system preferences and told me that the calculated backup is about 30 GB. Nevertheless, when the time machine starts is counts about 300GB. Therefore it is not excluding the marked folders.

Ever since I installed Lion I have had a problem opening attachments to emails which are videos. Most of them I can open with VLC and a few with WMV Player, but none with Quick Time. If they are on my iPad or iPhone I can open them with VLC and send them to others. If they are on my Macbook Air I cannot send them because the email goes without the attachment.

I have updated to 10.7.4, and now Time Machine does not work on my Time Capsule. I have erased all backups using the Airport Utility. When I try to run Time Machine, the disk is mounted, files are calculated, backup starts, then stops, and no backup is done. Also, no error messages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm moving from a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 to a MBP running 10.7.5. I thought this would be pretty simple ... just attach my Snow Leopard Time Machine external drive to the Lion MBP and run Migration Assistant.
But when I go through the MA steps, MA does not see my TM drive. I've made sure I have the latest upgrades and have run Disk Utility's First Aid on the TM drive.
Ideas? I know I can try MA with other interfaces but using TM allows me to work on my old computer until my new one is ready.
The TM drive is a 500GB Iomega eGo drive.

I have a 500 GB external drive that uses FireWire. Recently Time Machine started deleting several backups to make room for new ones. It now says the oldest backup is May 4th, 2012. I thought this sounded like a problem. When I looked into the details, my iMac now thinks my hard drive has 400GB instead of 500GB.

Why can't I get my Seagate 1.5TB External HD to act as Time Machine for backups?
Do I need to use come other application? I have barely gotten one backup a day!

Watch out in Time Machine after you install and upgrade your iPhoto '09 library. My Time Machine just did a fresh backup of it....all 40GB of it! Basically it gave me the same Node require deep traversal on just the iPhoto Library....so I'm guessing it had something to do with the upgrade.

This morning I thought I was deleting the keychain password to one account, when I accidentally deleted all of my keychain storage items. I followed the directions from the Support Community to restore the Keychain Folder using my Time Machine backup. I even restored the .plist files.
However, now when I open a site in Safari, only the user name is pre-populated, but not the password. When Safari asks me if I want to save the password in my Keychain, an error message pops up telling me "A keychain cannot be found to store password." I'm given the option to Cancel or Reset to Defaults. I'm not sure what to do. I'm even afraid to restart my Mac fearing I won't be able to log in or connect to my wifi network.
I also cannot get any of my emails through the Mail application. It keeps prompting me to enter my password, but then won't allow me to hit the Okay button b/c it's grayed-out.

Recently I upgraded Lion to 10.7.3. Since that time I have been having a lot of trouble with my internet connection. I keep losing the connect and have to go to diagnostics and turn it back on. Is anyone else having this problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedCan someone tell me how to configure Time Machine so it doesn't do a complete backup every time?I seem to get constant errors because my disk space fills up quickly. For some reason I don't think it did this when I first started using it. I use SuperDuper also, but have a drive connected to my iMac all the time for Time Machine.

Since I just lost my hard drive on my iMac 24 Intel, I am using external hard drive to backup via Time Machine. My question is what procedures are needed when you disconnect ext. hard drive? Do you change Time Machine from ON to OFF?
I know that I have to eject the ext. hard drive using proper commands, but what happens whenever I reinstall the ext. hard drive? Does Time Machine start over from the beginning or just update for changes since my last backup via Time Machine?
When I go on trips, I store ext hard drive in a safe and this is why I am asking.
I cannot enter the time machine when I press the time machine icon. I press and nothing happens, so I'm not sure even if it is backing up at this point. When i go to my Tme Capsule it has the folder there for back-ups and the most recent, but no access from the icon.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it true that TimeMachine doesn't backup email? A recent thing by Rush Limbaugh says that it doens't. I don't know if Rush knows Macs, but then on the lastest MacBreak Weekly, the Mac pundits talked about this issue as if everyone knows about this weakness.
So what's the scoop on TimeMachine and email?
So I thought maybe I just needed to tell Time Machine to use that harddrive again. I went into preferences, and selected "change disk," and then picked my external HD again.
It made a new backup, though. Now, when I go into my backups.backupdb folder, I see two folders, one is "XXXXXXX MacBook Pro 15"" and the other is "XXXXXXX MacBook Pro 15" 2"
