I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am transitioning from Windows Vista to a desktop Mac with OS X Snow Leopard my husband bought. I can't find any information as to how he got folders created and named to hold various related files. I have created two files I want to put into a new folder. How can I create a new folder to move them into? I have a manual and still can't find the information.

Moving identified documents into a newly created folder, "click on icon and move to the folder".Â
I'm able to move the document upon clicking on its icon however it is not accepted by the folder I lay it over including laying the document in the opened folder's column.Â
I like to keep my 'documents' area of the finder uncluttered, but lots of pieces of software, such as 'Bookends', Microsoft Office and others put folders there each time they are opened.
To try to move them, I opened the prefs of Bookends and moved the folder location to a better place, but every time I open the software it just puts a new folder in 'documents'.
On Quickoffice and Docs To Go (for iPhone) both won't let you edit Pages documents, but will allow Word documents.

Do you think it's too much work with the conversions and stuff and possible formatting differences or do you think it wouldn't be a big deal? I'm talking about for like high school or college
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure why, but all my MS Word documents have the generic file icon and nothing that makes me think Pages '08 is going to open that file. This goes the same for .xls documents. Even though both file types are set to open in iWork, they retain the generic blank icon.
Is this normal? Shouldn't they have Pages/Numbers icons respectively, even if they were created in Word?

I just migrated from Mobile Me to iCloud. How can I get the doucments I had on iDisk into iCloud. They were mostly Microsoft Office docs.
Also in the future, if I create an Office doc, how do I get it on iCloud?

I have not upgraded my Microsoft Office to operate in OS 10.7.2.Thus to open a word or excel document I must first open Pages or Numbers then find the document and it will open.To move to another document I must start over. How can I set a default that always opens the Word or Excel document directly with Pages or Numbers?

I am going through my documents folder to make all my files from the past 10 years universally accessible. I don't know if I should convert all my documents and powerpoints into PDFs or MS Office file types.
View 1 Replies View Related I have iWork 08 and it is HARD to use because of not being able to send my documents or open up others - originally made on a PC. I just got an email about iWork 09 and while looking noticed it says we can now open up windows docs AND save our work as documents!? So does this kill the essentialness of anything windows for students?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an external drive partitioned into 4s, 3 of them are for backups. I backed up each computer via USB, then connected the external to my Airport Extreme. I've done this before, and all worked well, however, this time around not so much. None of the computers recognize the previous backup and want to do a complete backup over wifi, which as you can imagine would take forever, especially for my iMac with 400 GB to back up. how can I get my computers to recognize the previous backups without having to connect the external via USB every time I want to back my computers up?

I have created a new group for specific contacts, and I would llike to transfer that group to the contacts on my iPhone 4S. I could type in all of the entries on the iPhone, but it would take a while. Much easier if I could just send it over from my MAC Pro tower.
