When i try to open a specific file in excel or word, very often a number of other recently used documents open up too!
All documents were saved prior to closing at last use. Does anyone know how i stop multiple documents from opening up?

At the moment I do not have Microsoft Office for my mac but I am looking into it as I will be going back to study soon and know I will encounter problems when it comes to transfering documents from my mac to a PC with Microsoft software. However I really love the mac application 'Pages' for personal projects so I am just wondering if I can still use it alongside Microsoft or I must give it up?

I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â

They say the numbers conversion does not translate well to Excel and pages to word. Do I load MS Office in the windows OS? How can i access the numbers file in the Mac OS to use in the Windows OS on Excel? Is this a better option than loading Office for Mac? I need the formatting that I put into the excel file lto hold.

I recently installed Lion on my mac and just learned that I cannot open my Microsoft Office documents and spreadsheets (I have Office 2004). If I upgrade to Office 2011 will I be able to open the original Office 2004 documents?

After upgrading to Lion, I can no longer see the text in my word documents or excel worksheets. I know the text is there because it appears in the formula bar - it just isn't visible in the cells. I can also see the text if I quickview the excel files. In the word documents, all I can see are the pictures/images...no text. Weird. I have the latest version of Office 2008 and Lion OS.Â

I am a student so I use Microsoft word a lot and when I use it I use it as Notebook layout.
When I first used it I had no problem at all. But then I don't know what happened but all of sudden the letters I type in would be on top of a line instead of writing between lines like as writing on a notebook.
I opened my previous notebook layout documents and compared it to the new one but couldn't find what was different.

How do I set up my mbp to open documents with Microsoft Word 2003 "always" under VMWare Fusion? I tried to set it up but it is not an option/can't figure out where Microsoft Word 2003 is when I right click and go "Open With." I downloaded Maverick OS X 10.9.3 and now I can't open my Microsoft Word documents! The message I receive when trying to open a document read: You can't open the application "Microsoft Word" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.Â

I've used Word on Microsoft Office X for the first time today and I am having a problem with the font suddenly appearing bigger after typing space during a sentence. Upon opening the Font Options Box the size shows unchanged.
This is very annoying and confusing!
I don't know if it makes a difference, the fact I was typing my address at the top of a letter when this was happening, although I was not using a letter template.
Does anyone else find it incredibly annoying that you cannot open an MS Word doc in one space and then go to another space to try to open another doc there without being flipped back to the first space? This seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to want to do - I use Spaces with separate projects not applications.
I've spoken to Apple support and they say it's something I need to take up with MS. I am well aware that these companies have in the past blamed each other for previous incompatibility issues. Do anyone have any insight on these problems before I do contact MS?
I have iWork 08 and it is HARD to use because of not being able to send my documents or open up others - originally made on a PC. I just got an email about iWork 09 and while looking noticed it says we can now open up windows docs AND save our work as documents!? So does this kill the essentialness of anything windows for students?
