OS X V10.7 Lion :: Unable To Read The Video Files?
Apr 4, 2012
I have a sony camcorder dcr-sx40 and my macbook pro is unable to read the video files. what I need to up grade or download to read them. The files are reading from my camcorder as .MPG files. I never have any problem downloading WMP.
When I connect my external hard disk (Maxtor) to my Mac Book Pro, I am not able to copy/transfer files to it, though I can copy from it to my Mac. How do I change the permissions from Read Only to Read and Write?
if im viewing a website and they have flash video i want to save, how will i do this. i cant right click and get info there specialized player wont allow this.
Since LION's installation and as a consequence the upgrade of QT player to release 10.1 I am not able to read any . MOV from my Canon Camera.I can perfectly watch it in iMovie or Aperture.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), Quick Time Player 10.1
I'm a longtime PC user who just got a macbook. I copied all my picture files to my macbook and opened up iPhoto. I used the "Import to Library" option to load all my pictures. I noticed that iPhoto copied all my photos to a Photo Library file under the Pictures folder.
Why does iPhoto make copies of the pictures and store them in a separate "file"? This makes it confusing because I have all the pictures that I originally copied but then when I'm in iPhoto, the program is actually accessing the pictures from this separate location.
- Is iPhoto not able to just read files from a normal folder structure?
- How do I manage/organize individual picture files if I'm not within iPhoto?
- How do I burn picture files to a CD/DVD if I can't see the individual pictures when not in iPhoto?
I have a problem with downloading files on my OSX partition. When using firefox/opera/safari to download a file, I often get an error "the source file could not be read, please try again later or contact system administrator" (Firefox) the other browsers just stop.
I tried repairing disk and permission repair, but no luck. Does anyone of you guys experienced similar problem or know how I can fix this? please let me know.
I recently had to create a new user, copy all apps and files to same, and then reinstall MS Office 2004 for Mac. I use a mini, 2gig Ram, and Leopard (10.5.6)OS. All my old office files have become "read only" and I cann ot modify and save w/o renaming. Is there a "blanket" way to change the Permissions to "read & write" for all my Office files? Idid not see a similar item in the FAQ's......
Also, when I open an Office application, I get the following message: "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library". How do I fix that?
I've just upgraded to a new Mac Mini which has OSX Lion, Version 10.7.3. I don't use the admin login for security reasons, I'm using a separate user login. When I want to modify a document (delete a document/folder or move a document into a folder) I have to type in the admin login every time. I've looked in the Get Info window of some, and the Sharing and Permissions all say Read Only.Â
Why are all my files Read Only? Is there a way to make everything in my login Read and Write without manually changing them all individually?
I purchased Learning Actionscript 3.0 Second Edition on the iTunes app store assuming I would be able open it. Is there any way to run the ipa file on my mac?
Wireless printing has suddenly stopped working. It worked one minute, then a few minutes later didn't! Is this an OS problem? Using Airport Extreme for wireless and everything has been fine for 4 months with iMac and old Macbook.
Info: AirPort Extreme 802.11n (5th Gen), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
The drive in my G5 tower will read/write commercial or blank CDs and will read/write blank DVDs, however, it will not read most commercial DVDs. When I insert them it tries to read it then after a few seconds it just spits them back out. Occasionally commercial DVDs will read and mount fine, but this seems to be rare.
There was no warning from Apple that updating to Lion, which is required to maintain my Apple email, would make all my former Appleworks files unreadable.
Info:PB G4, Mac OS X (10.4.7), Broadband connection via Airport
Just spent several hours transferring my files using Migration Assistant from an older MacBook Pro (running 10.6.8) to a new one running Lion and find that all of my Microsoft Office files were converted to read-only. Also, get the following message when I edit and try to save PDF files: You don’t own the file 'xxxxx.pdf' and don’t have permission to write to it. A pain in the neck, but fixable. Three questions: What did I do wrong? Is there anyway to do a mass conversion from read-only to read/write?
I have this movie that came in a double-sided DVD. I ripped each side using Handbrake to a .m4v file. Each file plays just fine in QT, iPhone and ATV.
However, when I used QT Pro to combine them to an .mov file, I get the following results: - QT (and iTunes) plays entire video fine - no audio from the first half of the combined video when played on ATV - no audio from the second half when played with VLC
(The instructions I am following are from page 31 of this: [URL])
When I take that combined .mov file and converted to .m4v using Handbrake, I get the following results: - QT+VLC play no audio on second half - ATV isn't letting me ffwd and it thinks the entire video file is one big chapter, and I haven't gotten to the second half to know if there is audio (first half has audio)
Now... I know that the issues with the .m4v that I generated from Handbrake doesn't mean much, so let's just focus on my issues with the .mov file if you agree that the .m4v playback issues aren't relevant.
What am I doing wrong with QT Pro when trying to combine the two halves of my movie into one large video file? If it matters, the movie is only 2:27 total length. I've not had a problem ripping DVD movies with Handbrake. And, finally, I can join my two halves on my Windows box using AVS Video Convertor.
On my iMovie, mov video files doesn't work it shows up as a white screen also on my quicktime. But mpg files works prefectly on my imovie. Can someone help me find a codec or a mov a mpg converter for Mac OS X 10.3.9?
On my iMovie, i can't get asf, avi, or mov video files to work. It would only show up as a white screen and take 15 minutes to load to imovie. But when i convert my asf to mov with a converteri downloaded, it took like 1 hour for a 30 second video, it worked and only took like 1 minute to load on imovie??? Is there any video codec for my imovie or a really good video converter?
I just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?
When I try to play a wmv file on my Mac I get the audio but no video. I've downloaded the latest version of Flip4Mac but that doesn't seem to help. I recently "upgraded" to Lion. Any connection?? Any ideas??? I posted this a week or so ago and was told to download the latest version of Flip4Mac. Let me repeat: I've already downloaded the latest version of Flip4Mac and it doesn't seem to help.
Any good mac software download site, I use cnet for windows, but is there a better one for mac? I like cnet just fine for my laptop, but I am more picky about what I download and from where when it comes to my Mac. Here is what I'm looking for and I have looked on the app site, but I didn't see a good free one. Need video converter for wmv files etc
I just bought this iMac in January and I've already had issues with Lion. First it was facetime.... now, I inserted a dvd-r that I already burned which has video files on them. The good thing, at least Lion recognizes that a cd/dvd is in the drive, the bad thing is that the dvd is already burned yet it keeps saying that I inserted a blank disc... which I did not.
I have a Mac Book Pro running OS X Lion. I cannot open .mpg video files created by my Panasonic Video camera. Neither iMovie nor Quicktime will open them. Final Cut Pro will not open them either.
I frequently copy 40-50GB files to external drives. Ever since upgrading to OSX Lion, I can only copy one file at a time. Any way to change this? Used to be able to copy the same file to multiple drives at once (using Firewire 800).
I recently switched iMacs around, migrating one to the other. Also, I've also started to sync my documents folder through SugarSync between two of my iMacs. I don't know if that affects anything, but maybe. Here's what's happening: when I open a Pages file and want to duplicate it, I get this message:'Unsaved Pages Document.pages' couldn’t be moved because you dont have permission to access 'Autosave Information'. To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info."
When I get info, I have "read and write" permission on the file I want to duplicate. When I give "read and write" access to everyone through "Get Info," I still get the same message.
