I recently upgraded to Lion and am now unable to print either through USB or wirelessly. I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus printer and have made sure to install all the new software since upgrading my OS. When I go to print my print queue shows the status as 'printing' but ultimately nothing prints.

So the printer that I have is a Canon MP620. Everything was working fine until I installed Snow Leopard, now it wont print wirelessly and it tells me that "printer in offline" when its obviously not.
Recently fitted new router from AOL into home network. Can get online OK but Epson printer no longer responds. Message shows 'printer not online', or 'communication error'.

I purchased an Epson Stylus NX530 printer with wireless capability. I have a MacBook Pro running OSX v10.7. My printer is installed and works as expected when connected via USB cord but printer shows up offline when USB is disconnected. I connected my printer to my wireless network through my router (entering name of connection and passcode) and enabled the sharing capabiliy in System Preferences. So my setup is that I connected my MacBook to my router and my printer to the router. Is there anything else I am missing? Would connecting both the computer and printer to the wireless router be all I shoud need to do to be able to print wirelessly? Is my wirelss router considered my "network?" If my printer has a wireless internet connection, should I be able to "view" it anywhere on my MacBook other than printer settings when it is not connected via USB (I had to initially connect my computer via USB to the printer during setup).Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter "upgrading" from OS x 10.4.11 to OS x 10.5 to OSX 10.5.2 slowly the print capabilities went down the drain. The description of the path to destruction is. With OS X 10.4 no problems using the Lexmark Z810. After changing to 10.5 printing was only by removing the usb connector then removing the printer from the system preferences and than re-connect the usb plug of the printer.
Under 10.5.2 only an error message "unable to read CUPS raster data" appears. After which the printer windows claims that the printer is ready for use. But absolutely no printed paper is coming out. The same procedure as with 10.5 does not have any effect. Removing the Lexmark files from the library and re-installing from the install dvd does not help either.
System: Imac G5 from 2005 with 2 GB memory and now 10.5.2 as os-software.

I've been trying to find out how to print from my macbook pro, wirelessly (from one room to another) to my printer that's connected to my PC.
I have an Intel based Macbook pro. I have an old Thinkpad T20 with XP Pro acting as a print server. My printer is an HP PSC 1350. I also have another laptop with XP on it. My wife uses her PC laptop and I'm using the Mac. She can print wirelessly to the PSC1350 no problem. I have downloaded and installed the hpjis, Foomatic-RIP, and Ghostscript in order to get the driver for the HP printer. The 1350 isn't on the list, but the 1300 and the 1400 is so probably close enough. I can see my printer on the network from the MacBook and I load it, etc...
When I go to print, the file goes into the queue, the printer fires up, prepares to take the paper, and then stops. Going to the XP laptop acting as the server - the file is shown in the queue and says Printing, but it's stopped. I have to manually remove the file from the queue from the spool directory to clear it. Has anyone ever been able to get the HP PSC 1350 to print from a MacBook through an XP server?
I recently purchased a 24 inch imac computer and I have an HP 460 CB mobile printer which prints wirelessly and would appreciate any information from the members on how to set up the computer so it can print wirelessly.

He told me that he has the iMac set up as a print server. When he gets out his daughters Blackbook he cant get it to print wirelessly through the wireless network, he told me he has to plug the printer into the Blackbook to get it to print. I'm guessing he is doing this via USB cable.

In Snow Leopard and using Parallels I could print, email and work flawlessly. But I made the decision to upgrade to Lion and now I cannot for the life of me print From Parallels at all now. In a company where printing large sheets in a MUST - it disappoints me that I cannot use my machine as I need it to be used. I think Apple needs to reconsider their operating system. That is Lion, Parallels 7, Windows 7 and HP Designjet 500 42-inch. I can print just fine from Mac but not Parallels (this set up worked great on Snow Leopard/Parallels 7)

I've got a dual-ethernet Airport Extreme base station. I've connected my AIO HP c309a to it by every possible means; ethernet, wireless and USB.
No matter what I do, I can NOT scan from my computer or to my computer, wirelessly.
I used to get an error to the effect of, "failed to create a session" when trying to scan. Now, I'm unable to locate the scanner in Preview at all!
It prints just fine. I've installed the latest Snow Leopard printer drivers, and they're working fine and are the correct drivers. Airport Extreme's firmware is up to date.

Is there a way to force Safari to print what I see on a webpage, and not default to the print style? I'm trying to print a graphically-rich site and the print.css doesn't cut it, making everything look like trash (unformatted text, etc.).

I am on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.7.3, and until some time ago I was being able to print on a HP Laserjet P1102w shared over ethernet from a iMac running OS 10.5.8. Then something happened (probably as a result of an update) and I can't print on that shared printer any more. The error I get on the printer is that annoying /usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed, OR the "authentication required" message. i'm trying to print some stuff off using adobe and some parts are printing, but some aren't. I've had this problem before i would print of some formula sheets for my finance class and basically if it wasn't a letter it wouldn't print it off but now it's taking out a lot more.
in the first picture you can see how i went through and wrote the stuff in, wasn't that big of a deal.
second picture is one page from the file that printed out fine
third picture, the entire top part is supposed to have a paragraph on it.
I recently replaced my MacBook Pro's (13-inch, Mid 2012) default hard drive with a third party SSD. I'm not sure if this would have any affect on it, but I can't upgrade to OS X 10.7.4. I used Lion Recovery Disk Assistant to install Lion on the drive and to bring it up to 10.7.3, and when it was finished, I checked Software Update and there was no update for 10.7.4. I downloaded the update directly from the Apple website (both the client and the combo updates) and neither of them will allow me to update! I get a message in the Installer that says, "Mac OS Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet thre requirements for this update." Again, I'm not sure if this has to do with the third party SSD I installed or not. Other than the inability to update the OS, the SSD works wonderfully.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI was doing a software update in an outdated Mac OS X 10.7.3 to get all the latest updates through its Apple Software Update. However, one of them failed to upgrade: iTunes v10.6.1 to v10.6.3. After rebooting to let Mac OS X 10.7.3 to 10.7.4, Apple Software Updater shows it 97% partially downloaded. I have over 31 GB free, so it can't be a free disk space problem. I tell it to resume download, but it quickly fails from 169 MB to about 172.7 MB (176.9 MB is the whole size) with "The update "iTunes" can't be installed. The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during the downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."Â
View 14 Replies View RelatedLast week my hard drive broke (with Snow Leopard) and I brought my macbook pro to an Apple Store, the HD was totally broken and they couldn't restore any data. They installed a new hard drive with Lion, when I got home I restored my data with Time Machine, but now Safari and VLC aren't responding, Safari opens but that's it and VLC doesn't even opens. Also the CPU of VLC and Webprocess gets to 100 %.
