Jul 2, 2012I am trying to play a Quicktime file in the .mov format, latest version as of 2 July 2012, but when I attempt to open the file, a message pops up saying the file type is not a type that Quicktime understands, why is this happening and what can I do to fix it?

Aug 29, 2014I use an Olympus OMD-E10 but I cannot see the .ORF RAW on my 2011 iMac with Preview. I get: "Preview currently does not support this raw file format." My Macbook Air reads the files OK. Both run 10.9.4. Is there a way to check that Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.06 is actually installed?

May 18, 2012I have saved some of my Mom's writing typed on an iMac G3 and then saved on a G4 iMac. It was then transferred to my new iMac. When I try to open it on my iMac 10.6.8 I get the message-

Apr 16, 2012I have been having problems playing .avi files with my computer. At first it was running 10.6 and after being upgraded to 10.7 the problem is still there.
I have been trying to install different codecs -- Perian(1.2.2 & 1.2.3 and uninstalled DviX first), flip4Mac, etc, but everytime i try to play an avi file with quicktime player X, it says that quicktime player can not open the file 'A required codec is not available'.
I have also tried to open the file with Quick Player 7 and VLC, the strange thing is that the video 'plays' (the sliding bar is moving), but i see no video in the application window -- it was just all black.

The only difference I can really tell between this movie and others I already have imported into iPhoto are that this one is a .MOV file and the others are .MPG files. Anyway to change this? Oct 6, 2009Basically, I wanted to combine two pictures (copying and pasting one over part of the other) and post it on Facebook. Problem is, I couldn't figure out how to do this in iPhoto. Luckily, I realized that I could do this easily in a program called OpenOffice.org Draw. However, I can't post it to Facebook (I'm assuming because Facebook doesn't recognize an .odg file as a picture). My question is, is there any way to convert this type of file into a picture type that I could load onto Facebook? I've seen some converters online but couldn't find any that are Mac compatible.
