Final Cut Pro X :: Won't Open - Changed Library Name?
Jun 3, 2014I inadvertently changed the Library name of an FCP X file in the Finder Window and now FCP X won't open. I immediately changed it back to the original name, and FCP X still won't open. The FCP X logo comes up, and then the app seems to freeze and not open.

Sep 7, 2014I have a lot of storage space on my computer, but i still can't start a new project. I do command N or File --> New Project and it just makes a sad little bloop and doesn't do anything. It doesn't give me message or anything on why i can't start a new project.

Jun 2, 2014I have one library that I am unable to open. It worked fine yesterday but now it just hangs with a message 'Loading "XYZ" event'. Even its backups in the Movies folder won't open. All the other libraries I've tried to open do so without any problem, so it seems the trouble is restricted to this one library and its backups.

May 2, 2009I can't open Microsoft Office due to this error. All my work is trapped in PowerPoint, Word Documents and Excel Files. And I don't have the disks it was a computer given to me. Recently I ran disk utility and had an error that was reportedly minor but ended up after all other efforts tips fdsk and others failed buying disk warrior. I hit replace and it did and that was all then after I did get an update for Itunes (I don't even use them) and Quick Time on OSX 10.4.11. Was it working before this update? I honestly don't know. Because everything was fine until my computer would turn from the Gray apple screen one day. I used disk utility but it didn't fix the problem. Lastly I have tried installing a combo update and repairing permissions but neither has worked.

Jun 29, 2012This morning I opened iTunes and all I got was a little sound box that let me play a preselected piece from my library, but I can no longer see my library. All my choices under the file drop down menu are grayed out. "Library" is active, but the only choices are "organize," "export" "import." I can't even get the sidebar that lets me open my iTunes radio stations. I just upgraded to version 10 to see if that was the problem, but to no avail.

When I went to reopen it it said it was corrupted and will no longer open in final cut. in fact, it just crashes final cut. Final Cut Pro X :: Crashes When Try To Open Library (containing 10 Projects And Events)
Sep 4, 2014I am unable to open a FCPX library (containing at least 10 projects and events).
Final Cut attempts to load the events and projects in the library but after about 5 minutes the program shuts down and I get an Apple message giving me the option to report the problem.
All other libraries appear to work fine. I am guessing that the last project created within the affected library is corrupt.
I have tried removing the render files in that last project and I have copied the library to another drive and neither worked.

Feb 20, 2012It appears to not to be backed up by Time Machine - which can not show anything earlier than the latest version.It contains items that suggest that it is regularly used by Apple software (e.g., Safari - for bookmarks?)It appears to be used by some manufacturers (e.g., Garmin) for device software updates - including a very large one that used 2.3 GB and stayed there after the Garmin map update was installed. (I was running low on hard drive space, so I took a deep breath and deleted that 2.3 GB file)What negative consequences could occur from deleting items from that Caches folder? (Caches may be seen in Time Machine by opening the user's "home" older in Finder, holding down the option key while clicking Go then Library, then clicking Caches, then Entering Time Machine. After the window settles down, only the latest Caches window and one other mysterious item will remain.) I am using OS 10.7.3 on a MacBook with 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, purchased in December 2006.

Apr 23, 2012I just noticed that my Library folder is missing from my home folder. I have the one on my hard drive but not in the home folder. I did a search for it and cannot find it. I went into Time Machine and found it way back in November of 2011....it did not show up after that. It was about that time when I installed Lion...maybe in that process I lost it from my home folder. If I can't find the missing one....and I can't.....should I restore the old one in Time Machine? I started to do that but then I got the question about do I want to have it REPLACE the old one (I don't know where the old one is to replace), do I want to save BOTH files, or do I just want to leave the old one. I would leave the old one if I knew where it was but I don't. What should I do.....should I check 'replace the old one?" Then the library folder will be one from 2011. Does that matter? I don't want to do the wrong thing.
