I'm trying to restore my inbox in Mail. I navigate to the inbox in the Mail app, click on Time Machine in the dock. It all appears to work and says 'click restore to recover your inbox'. However, I can't for the life of me see the restore button. In fact, apart from the Mail window, I can't see any evidence of TM at all.

Some time ago I had a hard drive failure on my PowerMac Pro Quad processor.
No problem I thought as I was using time machine however, when I went to re-load from an earlier back up iTunes failed to load completely, the song titles are the but with approx 50% of them I get the error "original file could not be found" also in many case I get the iCloud sign but with a ! in the cloud...

I maintain regular backups so I have the messages there. They are located at User/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/POP-(me)@pop-server. . . .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know if any of you have this problem, but often when I try to close an app, and I click the red button in the upper left corner of the screen, i somehow click the minimize button, causing the screen to go into the lower right corner of my screen (dock is on the right side) Is there any way to move the three buttons further away from each other or something else, like increasing sensitivity, whatever? Because it's annoying as hell. This is one of my only problems with leopard, that I keep hitting the yellow button.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been considering either a MacBook Pro 13" or a MacBook Air. I'll probably wait until the next MB Pro refresh (looks to be toward the end of March), and either pick up a new one, or possibly a refurb (of the earlier models) or close-out. Not sure yet.
I'm a long-time Mac user, on Macs exclusively since 1987, so no stranger to the platform.
I was checking out the MacBook Air (Apple Store and Best Buy), and noticed something about the trackpad.
It has the "button" at the bottom. But - try as I might - I could not configure it to do a "right click" (that is to say, press "towards the right" on the button to display a contextual menu).
I was able to go to the "trackpad" preference, and was able to set up the "two-finger touch" to invoke the "right click". But there seems to be no way to use the right end of the trackpad button itself to do this.
Is this correct, or did I miss something?
By comparison, it is easy to set up the MacBook Pro to do a right-click, even with its "buttonless" trackpad.
But this feature seems missing from the MB Air.
Is it?
I have a problem with my inbox, seems its corrupted in some way. I can see the headers, but no contents, cant delete or move message. All other folders seem OK. Its from a POP3 mailbox where the originals are deleted off the server when downloaded so I'd prefer to try and recover it but I can live with losing the contents if necessary. Any ideas? Is there a tool or way to repair? I have Time Machine but I doubt the TM backup will have caught these files between them being downloaded (they came in one batch) and being corrupted as it was only a few minutes. Not sure how I could tell if TM did catch them either.
Update; Impressive, TM did recover them, now I just need to work out how to empty the inbox of the corrupt messages. Worst case I can create a new email account but I'd rather not as configuring it was troublesome.
Second Update; Mailbox > rebuild, then move the messages from the TM mail recovered folder back to inbox.
Just bought my MBA about a month ago. Recently it started doing something weird, mostly on the dock icons.
Sometimes when I go to click on an icon, it doesn't do anything, regardless of whether I am clicking, double clicking, or pushing the button below the trackpad. I end up having to move the cursor off of the icon and back on once or twice before it will let me click.
I started my Mac mail application today (set to connect to my gmail accounts through IMAP), and all my mail that was in my inbox is GONE. I don't know if my gmail accounts were hacked or if their implementation of "Priority Inbox" just trashed all my messages older than 35 days. I've changed my password and disabled Priority Inbox. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can recover my e-mails?

Also the click button is so small i'm thinking they did it on purpose so it'll force us to use multitouch.
View 5 Replies View Relatedbasically i havent had my macbook air that long (few month, maybe few more) but all of a sudden the click button on the trackpad has almost became slightly annoying, that when you press it slightly it clicks in as if youve clicked but nothing has happened, and then i press a slight bit more (normal pressure for a click) and it works normal. its just really annoying and it seems to be getting worse at one end, and ideally id like it to stop.

I have bootcamp running windows XP on my mac pro.
Apple have made a simple button in Windows to 'restart in Mac OS X'. This is great and really fast to do. But for some reason, they forgot to do this in in OS X.
When I'm in OS X, if I want to restart into windows the , I have to do either of the following:
a.) Click the apple icon, click 'restart', click confirm 'restart', wait for the mac to shut down, wait around holding down the option key to bring up a startup disk menu, then when it appears, click the arrow below Windows.
b.) Click on 'system preferences' in the dock, then click on 'start up disk', then click on 'windows', then click on 'restart...', then confirm 'restart'.
I want a simple one-click 'restart in windows' button that I can click in OS X, just like the one-click 'restart in mac os x' button in windows.
No, I'm not interested in using VMware. I have it and use it in conjunction with everything else. Just a simple 'restart in Windows' button will do the trick.

Yes, I have tried using the automator to record an action, but apparently it insists on showing the mouse playing it all back... and all you can do is speed it up x 10, you can't turn the 'show mouse movements' option off, nor can you just make the automator workflow into a one-click button, since I can find no way to select 'automator runner' as the default application to run the workflow, and placing the workflow in the dock just opens it in the automator, so then you have to click 'play'. Just quite messy and unprofessional in front of clients. So, again, a simple one-click button in the dock will do the trick.
Hopely I have caught out most who will try to put this thread off course.

I have a little problem with Iphoto. I imported like many photos into Iphoto, it created an event and now I want to organize the photos in my event manually (and only in my event, not in any new iphoto folder or so, and without like renaming the photos manually). In presentation / organize there is a button for "organize manually", but on all the computers that I have at home, that button is grey so I can't click on it (and therefore it's impossible to organize the photos manually)

I got my MBA for 2 days now. Everything works fine except I heard these randomly Click noise coming out from under the power button place every once a while . It only does it once everytime when it happens and the click sound goes less than a second. Is this suppose to be normal?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when I try clicking on the trackpad's button, most of the time it will register the press and other times it doesn't. The button, physically, doesn't feel any different whether it registers the click or not. The button "clicks" down like normal and doesn't feel loose. Also, when I click and hold on the button and try to move my finger around the trackpad to highlight text or drag a folder, most of the time, the computer acts like I let go of the button and pressed it down again multiple times. While it does this, my finger remains on the trackpad button without being lifted. I recently upgraded my Mac to Snow Leopard but the problem occurred even with Leopard installed. I'm unsure as to whether or not this is a software or hardware issue. Could it be that there's something lodged under the trackpad button to cause this? If so, how would I be able to check under the button?

I'm sure there's a proper term for it, but what I mean is when you press down on the scroll wheel and a circle appears on screen with two arrows, when you move your mouse up or down it allows you to scroll through long documents quicker. I think Firefox and Internet Explorer have it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am away from home, and the inbox of one of my mail accounts on my MBP (10.7.3) has lost all its information. When I get home I want to restore (most of) the lost data from my Time Machine backup.
However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?

I use Apple's Mail program and also my school's webmail (outlook.com) in conjuction to check my school email. However, for some strange reason, my inbox on outlook.com will only hold up to 2 weeks of mail. My inbox in Mail will still be intact, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out why my webmail inbox is disappearing. I've checked every possible setting on outlook.com to no avail. I've also checked Mail's settings, but haven't seen anything as far as deleting older mail. BTW, we're allowed 25 gigs on outlook.com so they shouldn't be deleting them automatically.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got really odd behavior in my Mail application running on a MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 4GB RAM OS X 10.7.3. I have several email accounts. In one of them, "X," some emails don't show up in the account Inbox even though they are present in the overall Inbox marked as "Inbox - X"! Also, when I set up a Smart Mailbox with as criterion that the sender is "Y," the sender of one of these "missing" emails, those emails don't show in the Smart Mailbox. What's going on here? It screws up my email management as I can't be sure my Smart Mailboxes and folders contain all that they're supposed to.

I have seen random posts but do not see a resolution. does anyone have one? Luckily (without jinxing it), i have not had to use Time Machine, however my Mac did blow up once before which is why i have Time Machine now.
