Apr 23, 2012I just upgraded my MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) to Lion and there seems to be a bug in Mail where despite my repeatedly unchecking the "organize by conversation" option, it keeps defaulting back to this. I cannot figure out what to do to make it STAY unchecked -- I absolutely LOATHE "organize by conversation" and just want to use classic view without this and stay sorted by date received.Â

Jun 22, 2012I don't like the way that finder arranges my files and folders. I have tried all the arrangements and none of them "flow" for me. What I would like to do is to be able to put my files / folders where I want them. I like to group similar folders together and put the most important files/folders at the top. Now this isn't an exhaustive list of how I want to arrange them. Its more about where my eyes go and what I want to see. I am a new mac user so maybe this is a really simple fix that I don't know about.Â

Applications :: How Do I Export Video W/ Alpha From FCP
Jan 12, 2011so i've created outlines for a bunch of animated characters- 24 frames per second, each frame is a different psd file with black outlines. I'm animating over live action footage, similar in look and style to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I brought them in to final cut and edited them nicely (i applied some motion effects, changing the position on a few frames) so i can work with them in after effects to track them to some handheld shots.
What i need to know how to do is to export these outlines from FCP to After Effects with an alpha background- I did the export with the animation codec and the millions+ option, but when i brought them into after effects, the frames are all black! (as they are in FCP when i get rid of the shot beneath them...(which i'm doing because i just want to edit the outlines in after effects, not them on top of the footage))

Jan 8, 2011After using Firefox and many others on the Mac, it's now my default browser. It's the only browser that's in the dock, actually. But I have a complaint about it.On a MacBook, the screen isn't wide enough for all of my bookmarks to show up in the bookmarks bar. The "bookmarks" menu in the bookmarks bar is hiding the last bookmark I have. How do I get rid of that? The top menu already has a bookmarks pull down menu.

Jun 7, 2012After my recovery drive went missing and trying to reinstall it, had to do a format of my hard drive and reinstall everything once I got OS X reinstalled and up-to-date, I tried to import my bookmarks from a backup bookmarks file, when I quit safari and re-open safari bookmarks were missing and default ones back in place. When searching though the forums for how to fix this problem but too know unluck they did not work.

Mar 18, 2012I'm running Safari 5.1.3 on imac on 10.7.3. I just synced my ipad to computer. On my bookmarks bar on the ipad I had only 2 bookmarks. On the computer I had a whole bunch. Same with bookmarks menu. After the sync, on my computer, it had deleted all the bookmarks on my bookmarks bar, and only left me the 2 that were on the ipad. Same with bookmarks menu. Seems to have affected bookmarks bar and menu only. Rest of bookmarks are OK. I have an external backup drive and backed up a week ago. But, have never had to restore anything. What's the procedure to restore the bookmarks bar and menu in Safari, using time machine?

Jun 21, 2012Well I still can't get bookmarks to sync proper with Lion. I have three Mac Pros, two ipads and iMac 3.4 27inch and iPhone 4s. Every thing syncs on all devices ,,,,, All but the bookmarks between the computers. The ios devices sync fine, but no two computers will sync bookmarks. I have tried everything on the forums and a few more of my own, but to no avail!

Oct 6, 2010I've been a long time windows user and just last week got my first mac! (macbook pro core i5) and so far I'm loving everything about it. Altought I do have some vices I brought with me from windows and I wanted to see if you guys could help me out. On windows I was used to arranging my files automatically by name, and windows would organize it first the folders and then the files itself...all by name.
On mac, I do know how to arrange my files by name, but for example, on my documents folder I have a mix of files (txt,docx,ppt) and folders.
I wanted the folders appearing first (by name) and then the files (also by name)

Jun 22, 2010I have a 15" late 2008 MBP. The primary usages for my computer are: internet, and watching recorded TV shows from my laptop to my TV (I have my MBP hooked up into my TV).
Given that I want to store all of my DVD's on my computer, and I also download and watch TV shows (in .mkv format) on my computer, I'm looking for some advice on how to best use my MBP to organize, and watch tv shows.
My questions are to people who have similar usages/setups on their MBP:
1. Did you upgrade the HD for storage? If so, what size do you have?
2. What program do you use to manage your media? Since the files are in .mkv format, I can't use iTunes (which I use for music and audiobooks).
3. Is their a better HD format than .mkv to watch these in? Would I be better off converting into iTunes compatible format?

Jan 13, 2011I have a bunch of MiniDV tapes of my kid, and I need to first, get them off the tapes and onto my Mac, and second, ideally, organize the footage. WIth transfer, its easy, I guess I just have to use the firewire. But is there a clever software, that could help me organize this stuff, much like iPhoto or something?
