Nov 30, 2014Since downloading Yosemite w/ Safari 8.0, my Mackeeper has been finding a virus. It gets quarantined and I delete it, but it keeps coming back though the string of numbers & letters at the end changes. An example: /users/(imac's name)/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/fsCachedData/ (string of numbers & letters). How can I stop this?? I have had this Mac since 2011 and NEVER had a virus until I downloaded Yosemite!

Jul 14, 2008is attached to word documents. a friend rid it from my husbands resume which he was trying to upload to monster. there doesn't seem to be a program to get rid of it on a mac. so everythng i open just gets infected on my 3 machines. other than taking it to a pc and running the program my friend had, is there a (program) that will allow me to get rid of it? i know it doesn't affect my machine but pcs will not take these docs. I don't work in word, just use it to open client documents and copy into quark.

Mar 13, 2012Looking to help a customer with his os x lion mail server setup. On some occasions they want to be able to recieve .exe or zipped .exe files. The current solution is letting the sender zip the files password encrypted and change the extension name. As far as I can see in server manager we have 3 options for virus filtering. bouncing and deleting aren't option of course. When redirecting to the admin emailaddress you get an automated message probably derived from etc/mail/amavisd/languages/en.lproj The bounced messages are contained in var/virusmails, I can only get in that folder as root. I can see the message using nano, but how would I extract the attachments ? we would change the behavior of the virus filtering. There are some settings in clamd.conf and amavisd
clamd.conf has interesting items such as ScanPE, ScanELF, ScanMail, ArchiveBlockEncrypted.amavisd.conf has a block 'Commonly Adjusted Settings' with bypass_virus_checks_maps = (int) and more interessting settings. I 've been playing around with these and settings in server manager. I've been changing one value at a time and rebooting the server or restarting the corresponding service in between. For some strange reason the mail server behavior doesn't change at all and keeps sending the admin a standard mail with a reference to it's name in the /var/virusmail folder.Â

Feb 6, 2012I installed a game called PlaneShift and now want to uninstall it. It does not appear to have an uninstaller. When I try to move the file the client is in, the client itself, or any of the other files in the folder to the trash I get a message that says this cannot be done because the file cannot be deleted. The file stays where it was and nothing happens. The file is not locked nor is the application running. I even downloaded CleanMyMac to delete it which would claim to have done the job yet the folder and everything it it would still remain. Googling it yielded some commands to put in to the terminal to delete it with the root account

Feb 12, 2012So after trying to Log and Transfer some files from Final Cut Express (yes, express...) I ended up with these strange files taking up huge amounts fo space on my hard drive! I ended up with a file that is a whopping 180gb and the second clip is saying it is zero kb in size. I can not delete the files. They do not drag or drop, I cant open there enclosing folders and i cant simply two finger click to delete them either. (open enclosing folder and move to trash are simply not given options)Â
I can access the Get Info option to see the persmissions and all it says is "You have unknown access" When i try to simply open them they throw up a blocken alias warning. Delete Alias does not do anything, and I can not Fix the Alias as the original files no longer exist on my camera. The files have the .mov file extension and yea... really trying to avoid having to do a full reinstal of my system!Â

Mar 25, 2012I just got a new Macbook Pro 15.4" laptop (and I love it!). The OS version is 10.7.3. I have been installing a bunch of applications and have noticed one thing thats kindof annoying. For like 90% of the applications I install this happens.... I let the install finish then I browse to the download folder and move the .dmg file to the trash. So far so good. But then when I try to empty the trash I get the message: "The operation can't be completed because the item <app name> is in use." The application install finished so why can't i delete the .dmg file? Is there something in Mac that is similar to the Windows Task Manager so that I can see if the install process is still running in the background (and kill it)?Â

Mar 30, 2012In my network settings I added a VPN service by clicking on the plus button. I cannot delete this network service anymore. It seems to be stuck. The minus button is blurred and not active. I can change its position and deactivate it but not delete. I can add additional services which I can also delete. Only one VPN entry is stuck. I have changed the sort by field to assending and decending. I looked at my husbands mail and it does not do this.
