I've had the computer 5 months, and today randomly decided to "repair disk permissions" on disk utility.
Estimated time remaining is 32 mins. So far there is already a huge list of details, mostly things that are supposed to be set at 95 or 1 but are set to 0 (not sure what this means).
Is it supposed to take this long? What exactly is it fixing, and how did these problems arise from simple regular use? Will I notice a difference in my computer's speed afterwords?

Whenever i put mac macbook pro to sleep, it only stays sleeping for about half an hour and then wakes itself up. It does it whether i close the screen or manually put it to sleep. When its awake, the system is running but the screen is dark unless i click a button.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo my MBP 13" 2.26ghz worked up until the firmware update was installed, and then everything froze up and it took about 15 minutes to boot up, 5 minutes to shut down. So i called apple, and after a 1 hour phone call, they told me that i could get it replaced. I live an hours drive from the nearest apple store, and will have to drive up there to get it replaced, do you think i could ask for some kind of compensation for my problems, and having to drive 4 hours (2 to buy it the first time, 2 more to get it replace) to take care of the problem.
Do you think I could ask for the 2.53ghz model, or an apple/itunes gift card. or Should i even ask for anything, i mean i paid 1200 for this computer, and after 3 hours of owning it is not useable, and now i have to spend all this time trying to get it replaced.

I was trying to install windows on my pro, and i had bootcamp chop the hard disk in half, but then my disk drive didnt read the cd so i had to download and install some file. and after i restarted i could no longer access the windows side, it just disappeared.....plus i cannot reset my hard disk, cant erase it, and i cant reinstall OS X because there is no memory left..
At the beginning of last year I bought a 3.2GHz 27" iMac. About a month ago I noticed that, within about 5 minutes of starting my computer back up from sleep the left half of the screen would flick and become darker than the lower half (about 4 clicks of the light button lower). Sometimes the screen will flick to become even darker than this (but usually it returns to the 4 clicks darker after a short while), and sometimes it returns to normal only to go darker again.

I have a MacBook Pro with the 9600gt in it. Since updating to 10.6.4 this morning 2 times while playing java games i've had the bottom half of my screen go black and most of the top half flicker. I've had to hold in the power button and reset both times. The second time I closed the screen and reopened it, the screen was black but no mouse and nothing moved.
Any advice? Would this be something to do with my graphics card or possibly some error in 10.6.4?Edit:: This is software related to 10.6.4 update and only happens when I open up a java game in a browser.
I started up iTunes, checked my email, and looked up to see the top half of my display drop about 15 shades darker than the bottom half! I called Apple Care who told me they had never heard of something like this before and advised me to call the nearest Apple Store. I did, and like Apple Care, they had never heard of this happening.

We just installed Lion Server on a 2008 xserve.Everything work fine, but when it's time for TM to make a new backup (every hour) it just don't start.We need to start it mannualy. TM keeps the scheduling for the next hour but when it's come again it doesn't want to start!

Today my emails can not get through. The ball keeps spinning on Mac Mail. There is a triangle next to it, which says when clicked: " Unable to receive Mail: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account XXXXX or try again. The server returned the error: The connection to the server "mail.optonline.net" on port 110 failed (error 51: Network is unreachable" I verified disk permissions, reset my modem, rebooted, but nothing. I can obviously go online but can not access my mail in any of my accounts. All software is up to date.  I am able to send and receive email on my iPad 2 (wifi) but not on my iMac.Â

I and several people are reporting that the Seagate Momentus XT 750GB does not spinning down at idle under MacOS Lion. Do any of you have this drive and have similar problems? This is a notebook hard drive and I have it in my MacBook Pro (late 2009), but others report this in other models, like the late 2011 and mid 2010 MacBook Pros. The drive will only spin down when I force the laptop to sleep by choosing Sleep under the Apple menu or closing the lid. However it does not spin down under normal use, nor does it seem to let the laptop go to sleep.Â

For a couple of days now the activity wheel on my incoming iCloud/mac.com mailbox won't stop spinning.Mail seems 'extra' active in Activity Monitor but I cannont discern what it is doing very long log file with no obvious crashes or repeating patterns (to my amateur eye).There is no send/receive activity indicated in the Mail Activity pane of Mail just the wheel spinning constantly in my mac.com inbox.I seem to receive all the mail sent to that account so nothing obvious being blocked or missing just the constant activity.
I've rebuilt the mailbox but that didn't help.It has been fine up to a couple of days ago and I've not sent nor received any odd or very large files.
My iMac will not boot past the logo and spinning gear (After a Rogue Amoeba update). I can't access the recovery disk I made on a flash drive. (Am I doing it correctly? - Hold down option while switching on? It just stays on the logo).

I made my PC a hackintosh after a days work, i am using leopard and i wanted the applications folder in my stacks, so i dragged it from the finder and its gone. where can i find it. also where do i open virtual keyboard to type different characters. i cant type apostrophe nor question mark because my keyboard is turkish, hackintosh understands its a us keyboard and all combinations are different. sorry for typing this bad.
