I am running snow leopard, have 8 GB RAM and 320GB hard drive
I've had the computer 5 months, and today randomly decided to "repair disk permissions" on disk utility.
Estimated time remaining is 32 mins. So far there is already a huge list of details, mostly things that are supposed to be set at 95 or 1 but are set to 0 (not sure what this means).
Is it supposed to take this long? What exactly is it fixing, and how did these problems arise from simple regular use? Will I notice a difference in my computer's speed afterwords?
My Safari keeps quitting after half an hour it says its something to do with a plugin. This what the report says:
Process: Safari [801]
Path: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
Identifier: com.apple.Safari
Version: 5.0.5 (6533.21.1)
Build Info: WebBrowser-75332101~6
Code Type: X86-64 (Native)

My computer has a problem on the screen. After half an hour of use strange white glare that remain in the bottom begins to appear. When disconnecting the unit from one day to the next, but these glosses disappear within a half hour of use reappear. Why does it happen? Will it be a failure of manufacture? The device is 2013 What should I do

I just bought Lion from the app store but for the past half hour, the little circle in the top bar has been spinning. Is Lion downloading? I've never seen a download like this.

I have a MBA and although I have a broadband connection, the internet speed in the MBA is pathetic. I even can't open a normal song in Youtube in half an hour.

When playing music on the Mac, it cuts out after half an hour & returns to sign-in screen.

Whenever i put mac macbook pro to sleep, it only stays sleeping for about half an hour and then wakes itself up. It does it whether i close the screen or manually put it to sleep. When its awake, the system is running but the screen is dark unless i click a button.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll I was doing was watching Brothers & Sisters on ABC's web site... So, yes, I was using the wi-fi. I had screen brightness dimmed to about 50%, and I turned the backlight off on the keyboard... So is 1 hour normal?
I noticed the fan was running the whole time. I didn't realize watching a video online would cause the processor to heat up so much!!
I checked the CPU utilization, and definitely Safari was cranking it up there...
I know that the 13" MacBook Pro supposedly gets '7-hour battery' life, but does it really? If any of you have the 13" MBP, how much battery life do you get with yours?
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy new MBP has 5 hours of battery when doing light web browsing at medium brightness. Only 2-3 hours when playing low res youtube clips, and 6:45 hours with all apps and wifi turned off and screen brightness at minimum.
When I first turned on the MBP I charged it to 100% and then discharged it down to 0. Is this battery life normal? What happened to 8-9 hours with wifi and web browsing? I can't even get 7 hours with everything off!
So from what I understand my 2 month old MBP is supposed to have a 10 hour battery which is a stretch! I would say 5 hour battery at best, which is great and I am not complaining but 10 hour eh? Is that while the computer is sleeping?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to find out an answer for this. I bought a MB467LL/A model Macbook (2.4ghz previous unibody version that became the Macbook pro). Local store had them on closeout and it was a hot deal. Anyway, it was brand new and had a 0% battery when I brought it home. It's been about 12 hours and still isn't quite charged fully. Almost though.
Is this normal for a brand new battery? I can't imagine it usually takes 12 hours to fully charge the battery. I've never had a computer ship with a dead battery before so I'm wondering if it was bad or simply that's how they come now a days.
Could you somehow put the 8-hour battery of recent macbook models, into the macbook book late 2008 model?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the screen as dim as it can get. All I'm on is Airport with nothing else really going on and my battery life is only about 3 hours.
It used to be somewhere like 7 hours when I did this.... any idea if something could be wrong?
Coconut says I have 96% capacity left...
I contacted Apple, who got me to a 'battery specialist,' who asked me to send in my system profile. A new battery was authorized, based on the fact that my battery didn't seem to be reaching capacity (or something to that effect).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Week 01 MacBook Air, and I just started to notice that my MBA has not been performing its best since I bought it.
This morning I at 0745am, but now its 0831 and my battery is now at 53%; is there something wrong? I took a stopwatch and averaged it at about 53-55 seconds where the battery will drop 1%.
According to coconut battery, current battery capacity is 4670 and original battery capacity is 5090, and the system profiler says that I'm at 31 charge cycles. And YES, i've reset the PRAM, PMU/SMC, and calibrated my battery
My MacBook pro's battery life has really gone down hill. I bought a battery in September '09 and rarely used it. Recently I put it in because my original battery supposidly does not hold a charge. Now it only gets a hour when last week it got 4! What happened? What is wrong with my computer?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my MBP 13" 2.26ghz worked up until the firmware update was installed, and then everything froze up and it took about 15 minutes to boot up, 5 minutes to shut down. So i called apple, and after a 1 hour phone call, they told me that i could get it replaced. I live an hours drive from the nearest apple store, and will have to drive up there to get it replaced, do you think i could ask for some kind of compensation for my problems, and having to drive 4 hours (2 to buy it the first time, 2 more to get it replace) to take care of the problem.
Do you think I could ask for the 2.53ghz model, or an apple/itunes gift card. or Should i even ask for anything, i mean i paid 1200 for this computer, and after 3 hours of owning it is not useable, and now i have to spend all this time trying to get it replaced.
I like to know something about charging my 13" MacBook Pro. If I charge my mac 50% or any other % and use it, I mean not fully charge, is there any problem. If I continue listen music or browsing internet or both together how long my battery will run normally. Also what about watching movie, normally can i watch 3dvd movie.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy 10 month old Macbook Air 13" battery behaves weird every 4 weeks. When unplugged the MBA switches off suddenly without a warning even the battery is still more than half full. Plugging it in it tells it takes 20 hours for a full charge but never gets full. After unplugging it crashes after some minutes again and goes dark.
The battery' got 178 load cycles and 5675 mAh out of originally 6700 mAh (84%). Did several SMC resets and PRAM resets. I even reinstalled Lion from scratch without changing the battery's behavior. Calibrating the battery isn't possible because it does not discharge but crashes. I tried three different power adapters.

I am seriously considering purchasing one of the new unibody MBP's with the new "7 hour" battery. Just a couple quick questions for you all: Do you get 7 hours when you turn wifi off, the screen down to 1/3 brightness, don't use the CD drive/etc, or does it actually last 6-7 hours in normal use (surfing web, screen really bright, backlit keyboard on)? Has anyone experienced a degradation in battery life after a bunch of cycles? I notice apple claims that the new battery will last 5 years, yet they don't warranty it for more than a year. That does not sound good to me. Opinions?

I have a MacBook Pro with the 9600gt in it. Since updating to 10.6.4 this morning 2 times while playing java games i've had the bottom half of my screen go black and most of the top half flicker. I've had to hold in the power button and reset both times. The second time I closed the screen and reopened it, the screen was black but no mouse and nothing moved.
Any advice? Would this be something to do with my graphics card or possibly some error in 10.6.4?Edit:: This is software related to 10.6.4 update and only happens when I open up a java game in a browser.
i have a late 2009 Macbook Unibody White, and just recently it started giving me these messages in the battery menu bar. I haven't noticed any notably difference in my machine, but im just worried about this message.I followed up with this message and started doing health checks, ect. And as you see from the images below it says my health is it 75% is that good? I really don't know and that's why I need your help!
(First picture showing what the problem says, Second picture is the message inside Apple's Menu-Bar Widget for the Battery, the Third Picture is the message inside a Menu-Bar App called 'Watts', Fourth is my Macbook's Battery information from the App 'Watts' and lastly the Fifth picture is more Information from the App 'coconutBattery').
At the beginning of last year I bought a 3.2GHz 27" iMac. About a month ago I noticed that, within about 5 minutes of starting my computer back up from sleep the left half of the screen would flick and become darker than the lower half (about 4 clicks of the light button lower). Sometimes the screen will flick to become even darker than this (but usually it returns to the 4 clicks darker after a short while), and sometimes it returns to normal only to go darker again.

I started up iTunes, checked my email, and looked up to see the top half of my display drop about 15 shades darker than the bottom half! I called Apple Care who told me they had never heard of something like this before and advised me to call the nearest Apple Store. I did, and like Apple Care, they had never heard of this happening.
