Last week I upgraded my 2011 MacBook Pro (purchased July 2011) to 10.7.3. Now when I lift the lid to wake up the computer there is a several second lag time before the cursor can move. Under 10.6.8 the computer woke up instantly and the cursor was ready to use immediately. Is this a Lion bug and is there any work around, since I find this delay annoying? Not annoying enough to revert back to Snow Leopard, but I really liked how fast this computer is and don't appreciate Lion slowing down its wake up time. Nothing else seems slow since the upgrade, in fact applications seem to be opening even faster.

Everytime my computer goes sleep and I wake it up, I have to login with my password. It's a user account in OS Lion, but I can't see where to turn it off. Don't know how I got it set up this way, but I just want to go right back into wherever I was last, and not have to login.

After waking up my computer from sleep I find that the screen saver always locks/freezes and becomes pixelated. I move my mouse around and it sort of "erases" the saver to reveal the login page underneath. This happens on my new iMac (2011) and now is starting to happen on my MacBook Air.

I'm running OS X Lion Server on a Mac Mini 2ghz Core 2 Duo and every time it wakes from sleep I get a message saying "There is already a computer on the network named MacServer, renaming to MacServer (2)".
It only happens when waking from sleep. If I reboot or use the mini for hours without sleeping it's fine, but once it's gone to sleep it renames on wake. When it sleeps overnight it's named MacServer (5) by the morning, as it wakes up every two hours or so to re-register itself on the network and each time it renames itself.
I don't have any other compters on the network with the same name. The only other computer is a MBP and has a completly different name. Here's my setup; My Mac Mini is wired via ethernet to a Time Capsule. AirPort is turned off (I've tried on and off).My Mac Mini has a static IP address (x.x.x.40) with DHCP for everything else (DNS, etc.)The Time Capsule is wired to an ADSL router via ethernet. The ADSL router manages DHCP and NAT, with IP pool x.x.x.2 through x.x.x.30. DHCP and NAT are turned off on the Time Capsule (bridged mode). Wireless is turned off on the ADSL router.Time Capsule is handling wireless.
I've tried resetting the ADSL router. I've tried resetting the Time Capsule (to factory defaults).
The problem seems to be with mDNSResponder, as the log seems to suggest that it is this daemon that thinks there's a duplicate computer name. I've even looked at the source code for mDNSResponder and the last mod-log entry suggests that a fix was put in for this issue in 2009. It doesn't look like it's fixed it, though.
I've tried doing a fresh install of OS Server several times now and, after the last install, it started happening before I got a chance to restore from a Time Machine backup. i.e. on a completly fresh install and assigning a completely new computer name.

When I turn away from my MacBook Air to do something and turn back, I find the machine in standby mode (blank screen). I press the power button to restore access, provide the login password to re-join my "sleeping" session. I'm then presented with a "list" of one Wireless host which I must select, then "join" before I can proceed to use my browser etc.
Is there a way, that I can eliminate the tedious task of specifying from a list of one then explicitly "joining" the network? I'd think there would be an option to "always join this network if available" option that would make life easier, but I have not a clue as to where I would set that.I'm admittedly new to the Mac OS (10.7.2) and the Mac experience in general.

I updated a few days ago, and have been getting this issue ever since. After I put my computer to sleep, it will not wake. The second monitor (as main monitor) shows the state i left it in, but my laptop screen is blank, and everything is frozen... My keyboard still functions, kind-of (because caps lock will turn on and off) but i have no control. The only way to fix this has been to hold the power button, and force a shutdown. I have never had this issue before now... And there is no resolution to this issue that I can find..My second monitor is an HP w2207, and is connected via DVI. I do have an external HDD connected and on at all times: it starts up after sleep like normal. It is an iomega 2TB eGO, firewire hdd.

I have a mid-2010 13" Macbook Pro. I wanted to upgrade to 8G of ram so I bought this: url...When it arrived in the mail I installed it and booted the laptop. The apple logo comes up, the spinner starts spinning and then after awhile freezes. I figured that I recieved bad RAM so I sent it back to apple and they sent me new memory. I installed the new ram and the same thing happened again. Booting in verbose mode (Apple-V) doesn't give anything useful. This time I decided to run memory tests. I booted into single user mode (which sees 8G of memory and works fine) and ran memtest overnight. It ran 6 or 7 passes without finding any memory errors. My next plan is to try to my DVD reinstall/repair the OS to see if that will help but I don't want to do that because I would have to downgrade to Snow Lepoard and then reinstall Lion and that takes long enough to try to avoid.

Pages froze and would not let me continue to work on it. I have deleted all big images off my computer. I can't back up to google docs as it freezes. everything is causing my computer to freeze. Now I am left with a computer that is running very slow and none of the images I need. Help, my project is due tomorrow and is worth a huge part of my mark

I take loads of videos of my friends and I snowboarding, wakeboarding, and other stupid stuff. As well as making short films with the footage I like taking snapshots/freeze frames out of the videos to post on facebook and make slideshows. On my old Windows computer with the Kodak MediaImpressions software, although that program *****, I could take good snapshots out of the videos and it saves them as normal photos. But I can't figure out how to do that with iPhoto or iMovie. I know how to do a freeze frame in a project movie on iMovie but that is just in the project and doesnt save the photo.

Its been a while that I've experienced freezing session in my mail app (lion os) so as a natural reaction Force Quit>Reopen was the case. After a while I started to notice that it only froze, as in giving me the rainbow wheel, when it was downloading an "incoming mail". Since i get quite a bit of work related pictures and media filled news letters my mail app goes rainbow wheel quite often. After an incoming mail is downloaded, my mail app goes back to fully functioning. There is absolutely no other problems with it. Its just that when mail is being downloaded i cant use my mail app and its starting to get annoying.
Im running a mid 2009 MBP 13" with V 10.7.3 and my mail app version is V 5.2 (1257) . I have growl for mail installed as a plug in but i don't think that's the reason for the freezes.

There are times when my iMac will wake from sleep for no apparent reason. Sometimes, several times a night. The glare from my screen often wakes me. If I get up and select Sleep again, it performs normally but may wake up again. I have "Wake for Network Access" turned off, so that shouldn't be it.

When I close my macbook lid after about 15 seconds the logo on the outside flashes like the laptop has woken itself up again. it does this repeatedly and the only way to stop it is to shut down the computer completely. I've been searching the web for answers and there seem to be many people having the same problem. One website suggested typing something in terminal. I'm pretty amateur when it comes to computers. But this comes up:
Usage: pmset [-b | -c | -u | -a] <action> <minutes> [<action> <minutes>...]
pmset -g [disk | cap | live | sched | ups | batt]
-c adjust settings used while connected to a charger
-b adjust settings used when running off a battery
-u adjust settings used while running off a UPS
-a (default) adjust settings for both
<action> is one of: displaysleep, sleep, disksleep (minutes argument)
or: reduce, dps, womp, ring, autorestart, powerbutton, halfdim,
lidwake, acwake, lessbright (with a 1 or 0 argument)
or for UPS only: haltlevel (with a percentage argument)
haltafter, haltremain (with a minutes argument)
or: hibernatefile <path> hibernatemode <integer>
hibernatefreeratio <integer percent>
hibernatefreetime <integer ms>
e.g. pmset -c dim 5 sleep 15 spindown 10 autorestart 1 womp 1
pmset schedule [cancel] <type> <date/time> [owner]
pmset repeat cancel
pmset repeat <type> <days of week> <time>
<type> is one of: sleep, wake, poweron, shutdown, wakeorpoweron
<date/time> is in "MM/dd/yy HH:mm:ss" format
<time> is in "HH:mm:ss" format
<days of week> is a subset of MTWRFSU
[owner] optionally describes the event creator

It all started a few weeks ago. Whenever I put my Mac to sleep, most of the time, it immediately wakes up again. (Eventually, the fans would start to spin up, but I solved that by disabling "Sleep hard drives when possible"). Now it's just a matter of how I can put my Mac to sleep, and keep it sleeping until I choose to wake it up. I recently got a new printer hooked up to the network, and originally thought it was the issue, but I don't think so now.
I've tried disabling wake up on network access, Bluetooth wake-up. I tried a Airport connection instead of Ethernet, and have disabled both. I even tried unplugging the Ethernet cable, along with any connected peripherals (except the keyboard). Now, my only guess is that it's a software issue, but I don't know where to start. I would love to see my Mac sleeping peacefully again.

My mac is always waking. I have asked this question and have not received any reply. I have done lots of trouble shooting with Apple, but nothing has helped. It wakes even from 'shut down'. Sometimes every few minutes, or every few hours. I day it slept all day and night. It is unpredictable and very annoying. 2 product specialists do not agree on what could be the problem.

I am having a problem with my Mac Pro waking from sleep spontaneously at night. It doesn't always do so, but when it does it seems to be at the same time, 00:42. This morning I opened console to see what was going on at this time and this is what I got: [Log] So it would seem that eye tv is the culprit. I then went to open the com.apple.AutoWake.plist in the System Configuration folder and found 2 entries for EyeTV under wakepoweron which correspond to the times listed above (i.e. 09/24/08 00:42:30 and 03/31/32 06:00:00). I have tried dumping the com.apple.AutoWake.plist into the trash and then restarting, but a new file is generated with the same entries, and also opening the com.apple.AutoWake.plist to delete the entries, but then get an error saying I don't have appropriate access privileges to save the file (even when I change privileges under 'get info' to read/write I still get the same error message).

It wont wake from sleep and after I reboot it, it wont even start. After the chime, the screen stays blank and the fans start roaring high after a few minutes. I brought it to the Genius Bar. They ran diagnostics on it and concluded that the problem is the 3rd party RAM. I then removed the RAM when I got home and it worked for a day. Now, the problem is back. I already reset the the VRAM and the SMU. I'll bring it back today to the Apple Store but I dont know if they will even entertain me this time as they didn't even charge me for running the hardware diagnostics last time.

What could be the cause of an '08 Pro waking up for no particularly good reason, and seemingly never going to sleep? Say I'm working or playing on one of my Dells with the Pros slept, at random times I'll hear the Pros wake up. Also despite setting the sleep timer at 2 hours, if I leave the Pros running I never come back to find it slept. I have similar issues under Windows sometimes so I've not been very worried about that, but what concerns me is that it wakes up when I explicitly send it to sleep.
I'm pretty diligent about shutting down apps I'm not using, and really all I'd send the Pros to sleep with is with Office components running. I have no problems with my other previous and current Macs (although the Air is the only other Leopard machine right now) so am a little puzzled. The MX1000's I use on the Pros are holstered when I manually put the machines to sleep and nothing goes near the keyboard.
I doubt it is a hardware issue - I have two at home, and spilled beer over one of them recently (oops) and swapped it out for another more recent one which I brought back home. The first thing I did was to restore the beered Pro's install and I just heard it do the same thing. I'm fairly certain it's some configuration or software problem but I wondered if anyone had any quick answers before I started rooting around for the cause.
