Jun 18, 2012Apple mail out of office rule is sending auto replies to all emails not just newly received emails--HELP! I set up the rule according to another apple support thread and instead of only sending the reply to new mail received, it was sent to all messages I believe that were in my INBOX, I only had a few but several people that hadn't sent me emails since I set up the rule, received the OUT OF OFFICE reply.Here is the procedure I followed for the out of office rule-[URL]I just used my email account which is a business account- not an ECU account but these rules according to the apple thread apply for all emails.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail Search Function - Old Emails?
Feb 29, 2012Just moved to new iMac with OS Lion. The Mail function used to search the body of the email, but now it does not (apparently).[url]More importantly, the search function is not looking at my old emails in separate folders. And apparently it is not looking at emails not received by the new computer either. Thus I have no historic email search function, which is annoying.How can I force Mail to look at and search all the other old email folders?

About 3 months ago one addressee reported that she no longer receives our emails, including our replies to her emails.
- Her husband's email account, using same Windows PC, has no problem receiving our emails.
- We have no problem receiving her emails.
- This problem exists using any of the 3 macs in our household
-This problem exists for both my and my wife's email account
She reports that our messages are not going to her trash or to her junk mail
Any ideas out there?

Jan 11, 2010I've recently switched from using Outlook 2007 on Fusion on my MacBook Pro to the native apps in OSX, to try to move away from having to run Windows on my machine. I decided against using Entourage as I have experienced a lot of problems with crashing and slow speeds with my Exchange server email. I'm really happy using Mail/Address Book/iCal now I have tweaked it all a bit. I've visited the Hawkwings site to download a bunch of useful Mail plug ins, and have converted to 3 pane viewing.
I would dearly love for the emails to be grouped by date, as they are in Outlook, to avoid the unbroken list of emails that I currently have. I have experimented with Smart mailboxes and rules to colour the emails so I can differentiate between received dates, but find these arrangements either impractical or fussy to look at. I receive so many emails all day, I'd really like to have an easy-view layout. The ONLY thing I miss from Outlook. Is there a plug in or similar that would create this for me?

Mar 8, 2012I had a class of 25 students email me from their mobile phones all using the same subject. Now I'd like to create a mailing list / group so that I can easly contact all of them if need be. I tried creating a new group and dragging all of the emails into it to no avail. I also tried right clicking and checking the menus to see if there were any options which there weren't.Â
I'd be open to using automator or something similar if it worked.Â

Oct 6, 2008On a Mac OS X 10.4.11. laptop. ISP provider is Comcast. Have successfully been sending and receiving emails at home no problem using Entourage for two years. Have now taken laptop to visit away from home and clicked into the host's house wifi system - AT&T u-vers.
Entourage will now receive but not send emails. Receive 3259 error message about timing out. However, can send fine by going to Comcast's site, therefore Comcast insists this is not their problem but an Entourage problem, probably with settings.

Jun 7, 2012I finally switched to Apple's Mail app 4 months ago after 12 years of using Eudora (because of the inevitable - that Lion or Mountain Lion, when I upgrade, will not support the foundation architecture that Eudora is built on).There are (AT LEAST) two functions available in Eudora that I very much want to do with Mail and currently cannot figure out how to do. I'm hoping that someone knows of a plugin that will do these functions, or will write such a plugin, or will tell me how to make this suggestion to Apple to include in a future update.
1) I want the freedom to EDIT a received message - to correct a subject line, or make it more relevant for my reference, or add a key word/prefix to the subject for future searching and archiving, along with being able to edit the message itself, so that it is the equivalent in a book (or an eBook) of adding comments/marginalia for future reference. (In my opinion, once I receive an email message, it is MINE - so I should be able to do what I want with it (which includes the responsibility of not rewriting a message to resend to appear as deceptive or fraudulent).
2) Write up a draft email, that would reside in the "Send" folder of Eudora, and for which I could select a time in the future that it should be mailed (dependent on the fact that Eudora would be running at that time, else it would send the next time Eudora was opened. I would LOVE to be able to do that in Apple Mail. Rationale: Often, when I receive an actionable email, I want to respond at that moment while the subject is fresh, but due to priorities or scheduling reasons, I don't want the response to go out just then. Maybe I want the response to go out after an event three days from now, but I want to process the message right now, and I don't want to have to remember to make a ToDo item to remind me in 3 days.

Then I updated: OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 (Update (Combo) [URL] ... This sorted out what was, after installing Mavericks, a slower computer. Very happy. However now, when I do a search in the Mail App. and then drag one email to a folder and then click on others and choose move to 'the same folder as one before' it does this but the search replenishes the same email and around and around we go. Before updating this was working fine. How to rectify the search to folder problem descibed above

When setting up the certificate would i set the dNSName to  domainname.com or to server.domainname.comÂ
My mail server host name is set to server.domainname.com so i would assume this is the correct one, but emails are addressed to name@domainname.com so

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Cannot Login To Domain After 10.7.4 Update
May 16, 2012Here again dealing with how OS X deals with .local domains I think.Was previously bound and all was working fine. Have just updated to 10.7.4 When trying to login using the "Other User" the button stays red and says Network accounts unavailable. I can ping domain server by name and IP.Permissions have been rebuilt.
Have rebound. Had a problem at first unbinding inside the Open Directory Utility as it said it could not connect with the domain and an unused account would be left if a forced unbind was done. Tried again by using the minus button instead of the Unbind button and it worked without any message.
So then binded to the domain and all looked good. Green button next to Network Account Server in the Users and Groups.

I am also running VMWare Fusion on the same machine with Windows 7. neither Lion or Windows 7 are joined to the domain. The windows 7 VM browses the internet perfectly but lion is painfully slow. My IP's are DHCP assigned and the search domain is xxxx.localÂ
The VM is using bridged not NAT which is why the VM is perfming perfectly. I know its something to do with the .local but cant change the TLD here so need a fix. Â

Apr 15, 2012I have received 2 Panic Attack reports in the past 24 hours the first was obvious with the little black window message appearing in the middle of my screen the system was idle at the time with several internet window open and a exel workbook. The second occured overnight when I came to my Mac this morning the screen was black i.e. appeared to be asleep as normal I hit a key and nothing happened, I checked the machine and noted that indicator lights on a USB drive I had connected and this copnfirmed the machine was still on, I had my own panic attack! I did the reboot by turning the off switch off, and then restarted a report was displayed indicating a Panic Attack had occured i.e.Â

From what I have read, alot of modifications outside of the Lion serveradmin tooling can result in some rather unusual if not nasty behaviour. If this is true, then I would assume that I could not just write out to a file in /var/named/ and have it automaticly picked up by the server? The same for the apache instance? OS X V10.7 Lion :: Computer Id In File Sharing Is The Old One Before Joined Windows Domain?
May 24, 2012I just installed Lion 10.7.4 named my computer "fx6800". Then I joined my Windows 2003 Server domain with no problems. After that I could not log on to domain with one of my windows 7 machines because it had the same computer ID. Ok no problem I re joined the domain and re binded with the Win 7 machine and then un binded my Mac Lion machine then re-binded with a different computer ID. No problem both machines can log on to AD with separate computer accounts. Then I notice when I opened terminal it was showing the old computer ID. No problem I fixed it With sudo scutil --set HostName "new host name". Â
Then when I go to select file sharing in the description to the right under File Sharing On: it shows the path to tha machine is fx6800.domainname.local which is the original computer ID. Also when I select remote login and I believe it shows username@fx6800.domainname.local. I have searched for 2 days and have not come up with anything. I am sure if I reinstall everything it should fix it but I would like to save the time.
