I get a little annoyed when doing CMD+SPACE and seeing the list of lanaguages being switched between.So I did the normal thing I did on SNow Leopard/ Leopaard/ etc, and disabled the switch in Keyboard preferences.Even though they are both switched off, the langauges still come up when I choose cmd+space.

I've made the switch from Windows and would love a Mac app that behaved like Window's Folder Menu I fully realize I cannot, and should not expect to bring the whole Win experience with me but this app was just hella handy and I can't find anything similar on OS X. Folder Menu allowed you to generate a context menu (typically triggered by the middle mouse button) that could appear in Windows Explorer (Windows' version of Finder) or Open/Save Dialogs, and in this menu you could have predefined shortcuts to different folders. Selecting one of the shortcuts would jump you to that folder. I can see that launcher apps are dime a dozen on OS X, but there are some key differences with this app

Now when I do a cold shut down, the wi-fi on the top right hand corner is blank. Cannot do anything to turn it back on. I always try to turn on, but fail. Â
Basically, it comes down to restarting the computer and praying that the wi-fi signal comes back on. Sometimes, I have to do a cold restart and it seems I'm playing a gambling game. Maybe after 3-4 times the wi-fi signal will become normal again. Â
This has been happening for about a month. Yes, I'm just getting around to complaining. I did not do time machine, so I cannot go back before this happend. Either, I do a whole another system install or there is a patch I could get. Â
I have been a Might Mouse user now since it was released and it's been a very productive mouse... allowing me lots of options while I navigate my finder and files... and assigned Application Switcher to the track ball nipple was for me a must have feature... and now my whole workflow has now become based on this simple feature. I recently purchased a new MacPro 12 Core with Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. The Magic TrackPad I just can't get my fingers adjusted to... so I have counted that out... but the new Magic Mouse I like... I like the way it feels in the hand... I like the wireless feel about it... but the lack of the track ball is proving a difficult adjustment. I have started using CMD TAB but that's proving less effective as I'm sometimes getting mixed up with key stroke shortcuts for Adobe Acrobat... for Quitting etc...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my new 24" iMac, and within a few days I'll be making the switch. After reading countless forum messages and tutorials, I'm still a bit unclear about file structure (PC) vs folder structure (Mac).
I know the finder will show me folders and sub folders, which seems similar to an explorer file structure. However, I'm not sure how I'd set some things up.
For example: On my PC I have a folder for MY FILES and under it I have folders such as Photos (with sub folders) and Documents (with sub folders). I also have a folder for my pet photography business, which is called NYPetShots. Under that I have a folder for the Pet Photos (with sub folders for shoots etc.), another one for my Promotional Materials (which includes jpgs of flyers and postcards), another for Non-Photos (which includes documents and correspondence), and another for Web Stuff (which includes my web back-ups and Photos used for the web - also in some sub folders).
I am not wedded to using the exact same structure. However, it would certainly make sense to me to keep it. What would it look like on the Mac? I will be importing my entire Lightroom Catalog into the Pictures folder, and that will include my business photos as well as my personal photos. However, they will keep logical structures and will have keywords. I assume there is a folder for documents; however, I have both personal and business, with sub categories in each. So, could I continue to use a folder just for my pet business, even though it consists of different types of files?

I have a late 2008 Aluminium Unibody MacBook (5,1) and installed 10.7.3 via software update without problems. But when I turned the machine on next morning, Wi-Fi was disabled and could not be activated via the menu bar control or network pref pane. After a couple of reboots--two, if I remember correctly--the MacBook booted up with Wi-Fi active and connected (I use a Fritz!Box 7390 WLAN router with both 2,4 and 5 GHz networks, connecting via 5 GHz by default).Â
I did then repair disk permissions and re-applied the Combo update. No cure, obviously. Same again this morning - no Wi-Fi on startup first, connection just after a couple of reboots. Wi-Fi hardware (Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 , firmware 5.100.98.75.19) always shows up in the system profile, it's just that it's disabled first.Â

I am bilingual, and use two languages on my Mac - English as default, and Russian as secondary. After the update to 10.7.4. every time I log back in (have a password on my Mac Pro), all the programs have Russian language. For example, I open a Chrome window to start typing in the web address, and it writes in Russian language. I cannot remove Russian language, as I use it as much as English language. But I would like to have English as default like I am used to. I have checked in the Preferences, everything is as it used to be, primary English, and secondary Russian. But the problem persists even after the reboot, changes in the Preferences.
It is not hard to switch between the languages, it is just annoying to expect the machine run in English, and then see the other language, and switch.
P.S. Besides, the English language icon is became more dull after the update. Not that I complain, just want to know if it is normal or there IS the problem with languages on my Mac.Â

So as the title says when I boot up my iMac, on occasion, it seems to have the "Updating" Status bar, then the mac boots normally, then the sound is disabled. I disabled local snapshots because they were using up 43GB of hard disk space that I needed for other things.I used this command in terminal: sudo tmutil disablelocal..Instead of having the local snapshots be deleted, they are somehow littering my hard drive still.I have searched my drive, but still can't find them. I have an iMac and added LION to it. I have Fluenz software that I was using ok on Snow Leopard. I downloaded a fix for the Fluenz from there website that was supposed to fix everything. Now Fluenz does not work at all. When I take it off the iMac and try to reinstall the Fluenz I get the following message "You can't open the application Fluenz setup.osx because PowerPC applications are no longer supported".what I can do to fix this and get the Fluenz to run?

I just noticed that on my login screen, "Guest" appears even though it is disabled. I have not tried to run it, but when I do click on it I get the message that the computer will reboot into the "Guest" mode. I stopped at that point. This can't be normal.

I have added a language under the first tab, Language, only to find that there is no correspondingly supported input option under the fourth tab, Input Sources.
I would now like to remove the entry I added under the first tab, Langauge, but cannot figure out how to do this. I have tried highlighting and pressing delete, dragging it out of the window, etc., but so far nothing works.
I originally bought my computer in CA in the U.S with the hard drive 10.4.7.
