Jun 19, 2012My iMac internet has become so slow I tend not to use it much at all. An adjacent PC runs fine so it seems to be a software issue and is relatively recent.

Jan 27, 2009my imac has been running very slow lately and i don't know why. i'm not a man of great knowledge when it comes to computers and in fact this is my first imac i've ever had. (although i loved until now.....) i need to know what i can do to make it run faster. it seems to only be a problem when i'm on the internet although i could be wrong. (i know it is not just a connection issue because my ipod touch is running off my wireless much faster than my computer.

May 5, 2012I have an iMac model identifier 9.1, with Mac OS X v10.5.8 and safari version 5.0.6. All programs are running normally (fast) except safari. When I try to load webpages it takes about 11 seconds to fully load. All other computers in my house are connected to the same internet and running fine. What do I do to make the loading faster?

IMac :: Aluminium IMac Running Slow On One Account
Jun 24, 2010I have an aluminium iMac, 2.4GHz Intel C2D, 2GB RAM, running Leopard.On one account, it runs slowly, with a noticeable delay in doing anything, even menus take a second do to anything once they've been clicked.It has all the updates installed and I've tried repairing the permissions and rebooting already.
Since I've only noticed it on one account, I'm inclined to think it's a corrupted user file or something.
OS X :: My IMac Running Slow
Mar 30, 2009My PPC G4 iMac is slow as hell. I plan on upgrading soon enough to a newer iMac but in the meantime I'd love to recover some speed. I know i have a woefully low amount of RAM - 768 to be exact - but apparently I'm stuck with that. It was running better in the past but with time things just slowed to a crawl with minimal things open - Mail, Safari and maybe Word and Excel. I gave up trying to run PS Elements 3 on this machine. That just makes me want to scoop my eyes out with a spoon.
I run iClean regularly, I have my desktop clear of clutter. What can I do in the interim before I buy the new iMac to help things some? Or am I just S.O.L. and just be patient and wait for the new machine?
Why Is IMac Running Slow
May 14, 2012My iMac is running slow and sometimes freezes. There shouldn't be a problem with memory (6GB); the backup HD is a 1GB WD and backup is run via Time Machine. Backup seems to run OK but there is an enormous drain on CPU usage and the process takes forever.

May 23, 2010I am an absolute Mac virgin I have never used one before this is my first experience with them. We bought a imac for our daughter purely for the virus free factor and the computer just looked so good the graphics etc.
Anyway we have had the system now for over a year we all love it and have worked out the basics. My problem is that lately it has become very sluggish and jumps out of Safari a lot, Safari closes unexpectantly. It takes ages for even Word or anything to come up. IMac :: Running Slow / Using For Video Editing
Feb 12, 2010My iMac will be 3 years old Oct 19 2010 and it's running pretty slow. I do a lot of video editing and have 1GB of memory ( I think that's the RAM). I'm pretty sure that's not the right amount of RAM I should have for the things I'm doing but I could be wrong. I have about 5 apps open at once for recreational use and about 2 for video editing, those 2 being Final Cut Pro and iTunes. So would it be my low amount of RAM causing my computer to slow down or another reason?

Nov 30, 2014I have a 27-inch, Mid 2011 running the 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5. I currently have 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 in four slots (4 each).
When I uploaded OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and shortly after uploaded CleanMyMac 2 I started to experience tremendous latency in processing speeds on all applications. Running CleanMyMac 2 multiple times and removing no longer used apps to free up space did little to resolve the issue.

Mar 16, 2009Just picked up a 24" iMac on clearance and the Internet seems to hang up and just be a bit slower in general compared to my 4yr old MBP. I can't really get a cable to it so I'm using a Belkin N1 router. Is there anything I can do to see if it's the router or possibly the iMac?

Her windows computer died and the local computer shop moved everything to the iMac and when the mom complained the iMac was slow the computer shop told her it had blown caps. To me blown caps wouldn't cause it to run slow, lock up and be unreliable I would believe but not slow. Has anyone had a Mac just run slow because of blown capacitors?

Aug 4, 2010Recently I started suffering pretty bad from color wheel load time where safari was getting glitchy and taking forever to move. I tried to cold start it to see if a refresh would help. Well it white screened, and wouldnt exit the loading screen. I reset the ram memory with alt ctrl p and r; this did nothing. Eventually I kissed all my music projects and logic pro 9 good bye, and reformatted from the boot disc. When I went to use it, I got out of the white screen, but was ridiculously slow.
Thinking maybe I didn't do the partition right, I reformatted again, erased the entire drive, set the partition, and loaded 10.6. Any time I open safari, it gets glitchy, and incredibly slow to the point I cant even restart. I cleared the memory again and this still did nothing. I purchased and installed new ram; still nothing. Coming from windows a reformat usually takes care of things. I have no idea what I can do at this point. Its a 2007 24" 2.4 ghz 2gb RAM.

Feb 1, 2012My late 2010 iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 12gb of ram is running very slow. It takes a very long for the computer to boot with the desktop taking ages to fully load. Applications are also taking an unholy amount of time to load with the spinning wheel always appearing through out use, and they often crash or don't respond and close during use. I'm talking applications like Word taking 3 minutes to load and getting the spinning wheel when font size is tried to be changed and crashing and closing if a large volume of text is attempted to be pasted into a document.The computer is also failing to shut down properly just staying on a blue screen. I recently wiped and completed a fresh install however the issues came back.

Sep 23, 2010I just upgrades my iMac to snow leopard. I did not see this problem right away but about a few weeks later. My computer is really, really slow when I surf the internet. But it is not slow consistently. Sometimes pages will load immediately and other times it will tell me I can't open the page due to the server not being found? I really don't know where to start looking for a problem.
Could I have a virus?
Could the Airport just be getting old and starting to fail?
Do I have too much info on the computer already and that is effecting something?
