Why has my desktop picture changed. It changed to a strange picture that is not on my computer and my internet is slow.

I just bought my MacBook Pro 13.3 inch and it is amazing. I just have one problem. The net is running very slow on wireless. I have a NetGear router that has always had PCs. It works fine through Ethernet.

my imac has been running very slow lately and i don't know why. i'm not a man of great knowledge when it comes to computers and in fact this is my first imac i've ever had. (although i loved until now.....) i need to know what i can do to make it run faster. it seems to only be a problem when i'm on the internet although i could be wrong. (i know it is not just a connection issue because my ipod touch is running off my wireless much faster than my computer.

When I try to load webpages it takes about 11 seconds to fully load. All other computers in my house are connected to the same internet and running fine. What do I do to make the loading faster?

As stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.
BTW, I have searched and I know I only have a few posts...
My System fonts seem to be the default, however using other programs the font is different. For example: How can I get rid of this? I have not installed any new fonts or anything!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had an iMac for just about a year and over time I guess I just didn't notice but the machine always ran very quietly. At the same time the back of the computer would heat up so bad that it would nearly burn my hand if I left it there. Well last week I decided to upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard and when I did the install failed and froze up the hard drive. I took the computer in to the apple store and they determined that it had to have a new hard drive installed because the old one (only a year old) had a physical malfunction (was broke). So anyway I have my iMac back and get it started up, backed up from time machine, and then finally get Lion istalled - and now all of the sudden I notice that the fans in the computer are CONSTANTLY blowing - I can hear them spinning and can hear the air venting out of the back of the computer - and the computer is STILL really hot on the backside of the screen. Â
So now I am wondering if the originial problem was the computer heating up and if that may have broken the otherwise good hard drive? Also now that I have a new hard drive - should I be concerned about the fans being on ALL the time? I mean they never go off. Even when I leave the computer for hours and come back to it and the screen is asleep the fans are STILL buzzing away at top speed. Here is the stats on the computer at the time that I'm typing this note - there are no other programs running than Firefox and Mail. Also - I don't know what the optical drive is exaclty - but if it's the DVD drive (superdrive) - there is nothing in the DVD disc driveÂ

Once i installed the latest safari update and the computer restarted, my date settings were changed to December 31, 2000. Also, random programs popped up, asking if i should allow or deny them. As well, i was disconnected from the internet. I'm not quite sure what has caused this.

So i opened my addressbook and reset my picture. A few minutes later, I noticed that my profile picture was reset to blank again so I changed it again and waited. I have this MBP 13'' Mac OS X 10.7.5 running a 2.4GHz i5, 4GB RAMs and 500GB storage.The problem started yesterday when I was typing on Word and I copy pasted something from the net (chrome browser) then it froze.I waited for around 5minutes and still frozen with the spinning wheel, then I decided to turn it off by pressing power for 10 seconds restarted my
MBP then now it running so slow on start-up and apps are very slow to open like around 5 minutes. Every action that I try to do like clicking on the apple in the upper left it freezes showing a spinning wheel and it will take time to show the drop down options. I checked disk utility and it said that HD is ok, done verify/permission verify and repair.
I checked the activity monitor noting the ram/CPU usage and its normal it even tells that 2GB of ram is not use.It shows not responding in the activity monitor if you open an app for around 5mins then it opens or it will crash.I already done the 2 kinds of reset and did not work.BUT it opens normally in Safe mode.Â

So i dropped my macbook last week and turned it on and the screen is just grey, so i bought an external monitor and hooked it up and everything works fine except when i turn it on all I see is my desktop picture, no icons or anything. What could be the problem and is there a way to fix it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro and have recently noticed that when initially loading any of, google chrome, firefox or safari it takes a very long time for the internet to load the webpages.
It says that there is a full wireless connection but will not load the webpage.
Once the webpage has finally loaded after about a minute, subsequent browsing is as fast as can be expected upon my broadband connection, loading pages in <1s.
However the problem reappears whenever I open a new window, or anything else that might use the internet such as the app store, itunes or apple software update.Â

I just bought a MBAir for my daughter, and I created an admin account for myself and a managed account for my daughter. I don't want my daughter feel uncomfortable that her old dad appears sharing her computer and monitoring her. I edit using Lightroom and Photoshop and I'm having an issue while editing. After editing around 8-10 photos in Photoshop the computer starts running unbelievably slow. After each 8-10 photos I have to close down everything and reboot. Even the reboot process is super slow as I have to force quit each application usually 1-2 times to get it to close. Is this normal? I have a 2011 17" with 2.2 GHZ i7 with 8GB ram. Is there any setting that I can change or be aware of.

I haven't used my MacBook Pro laptop in the last week or so - which means there is no way I have done any changes to the network configuration. I select my desktop picture, and it puts it as it. But once I shut my computer off and turn it back on, it's back to the Lion desktop picture. But when I go into the system preferences, it says that my picture is the one that I selected before.

What's more, when I restart to my bootcamp partition, the internet works fine. It's only in Mac OS that I have a problem.
My computer used to connect to the internet straight away as it was turned on (wireless), but after a problem with downloading rental films with Itunes store, it has stopped connecting automatically. The fix for the film rentals was to delete a file called SC i think. I have had a dig around in all the network tabs

My macbook air only connects to my home internet automatically occasionally, even though it is set to connect to the network automatically. I have to either manually type in my internet and password almost every time or I have to turn off and on the AirPort. This does not happen at other places where my computer is set to connect automatically. My mom has the same computer as me and lives in the same house and she has no problems connecting to the internet.

my 4 year old IMac 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo with 2gb running 10.7.3 has been running really slow since I installed photoshop CS4 and upgraded to lion ( I have 137gb of free space on hard drive) I mean it wont quit out of photoshop I always have to do a force quit and most applications run really slow.
