I need to create a user account for several pupils. I don't want them to change the account picture.How do I lock the picture.I Know there is this Guest Account, I am not talking about that.

It never has and I just noticed on another Screen shot of someone else's login screen that their login picture is showing. I kind of like it. Can anyone tell me how to get it to display there? My computer was originally set to autologin when I first got it but I set it to require name and password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running a Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server and have configured a global security policy using the following command: [code] When a network user is logging in from the login screen, it disables the users account after 3 attempts.This is the behaviour I expect (maxFailedLoginAttempts=3).When a user locks thier screen, a password is required to return to the desktop (also part of the intended security policy).If a user enters an incorrect password for the screensaver, it immediately locks the the networked account. To be clear, it takes only one failed attempt to lock a networked user's account from the screensaver.I have tested local accounts set up with the same global password policy, and the screensaver locks the account after 3 failed attempts, as I would expect.Anyone know how to make the screesaver not be so fussy?

I am an experienced user of Unix and Linux, and I come to the mac loving the BSD backend of Darwin. I am working my way through the O'Reilly "Mac OS Tiger for Unix Geeks" book.However, I have "lost" my account picture. I have googled, and searched through this forum and others, and I cant find out how to locate the "Account Picture" image itself.
Let me clarify that. I took a neat picture of my dog with Photo Booth, and I selected it as my account and buddy picture. I believe I deleted the copy that was in my pictures folder, as I cant find it in buddy icons, iphoto library, or photo booth. Yet, in chat, and logging in, that image appears.I would really like to keep this image seperately as it turned out really well, but I can't find the image to archive it. I am, as I mentioned above, no stranger to a Unix shell, but I am a noob when it comes to Aqua.

I just bought a MBAir for my daughter, and I created an admin account for myself and a managed account for my daughter. I don't want my daughter feel uncomfortable that her old dad appears sharing her computer and monitoring her. Is it possible that my account icon/picture is hidden or removed from desktop while I am still able to use the account?

I just purchased a brand new Imac. When I attempt to create my initail user account I am asked if I want to take a new picture for this user account.
The Imac then hangs when I click on the check box to take a picture.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought this new MacBook Pro a month ago. When I try logging into my guest account, it froze. I had no other alternative but to get out of it by pressing the power button. Then I tried open a new user account to see if it also has the same problem. Unfortunately it did have the same problem - froze after I logged in. I had done a harddisk check, there seemed to be no problem.

I end up with an Admin account and there is no way to convert this account into a Standard account. Facts: 10.7.4 - clean install on a current iMac i5 Freshly created account uses name of a deleted older account (my name)Repaired permissions several times (disk utility and "resetpassword utility" via terminal and safe boot)The older account had been relocated to a external disc for security reasons. I have a Mac Pro that is running OD to create users. My problem is that the users that I have to give macs to, need rights on their machines to install programs because of all of the development software that these individuals need. I don't want them to be able to make a local user so that they cant unbind these machines from the OD server.
They still need access to terminal. I don't want them to be able to boot into the recovery partition or terminal to get super user rights (thus changing passwords or adding/deleting users). I have restricted their rights to access "Users & Groups" through OD Policies but that's about all I have done.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWorking on a 2011 Macbook Pro with 10.7.3.I"ve setup many other macs with the same build and they all have created the mobile account when logging in for the first time, but this one will not allow the mobile account to get created.I'm connected to the line that gives me LAN access. I can log in with my own credencials and that works fine.I suspect it's the way the AD account is setup on the server but I'm not an admin for that. The same account sets up fine on a Windows box. Once I log in for the first time, it goes directly to the desktop. Basicly a local account but no user directory is created. With Fast User Switching turned on I see that it's showing someone elses name there, not the user that I logged in with. i.e. It should show 'joe jones' but it's showing 'fred smith'

I lock the screen & sleep the system when I go out (Sys prefs > Security & privacy > require password immediately after sleep or screen saver) -- get back and click to wake .. From that moment the keyboard (and sometimes the mouse too) responds very very slowly - takes about 30 secs even to enter my password to login. What happens next varies. Sometimes the keyboard recovers in a matter of seconds and returns to normal function. Other times it actually gets worse and might even get to the point where I can't even select menu items with the mouse. In the latter case restarting the system fixes it.

As stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.

I've setup my server and enrolled a few devices. Everything works fine if I'm in the same LAN but as soon as I tether my laptop to my cell service and try to issue the remote lock nothing happens till the laptop is back on the network and it gets the lock request. I have changed the hostname of the lion server a few times if that broke something. Also the server is behind a NAT so do ports need to be forwarded?
