Applications :: .mov Video Converter For SonyVegas
Sep 23, 2010
I have a video that is ".mov" and I cant use it in SonyVegas (Windows 7) cause it shows no Video (just audio) So I'm trying to convert it to other format that hopefully wont make it look like crap and that will work with SonyVegas . I try iSkysoft Video Converter and it works, but It loose too much quality , the original .mov is 2GB and the biggest better quality i can get with that app is like 400-500mb. I'm giving up, I've search youtube and google for hours in the last 3 days without any success of making the .mov to work on sonyvegas or converting it, that's why i decided maybe someone in here can help me, I'm still kinda like a noob on MAC OS X

I currently own a JVC Everio GZ-MG130 hard disk camcorder. It records in .MOD files. I cannot view them in quicktime on my imac g3. I have tried opening them as is, and renaming them to .MPG and .MOV. I found that HandBrake will do the job, but I cannot find a PowerPC version for 10.4. 0.9.1 should work, but I cannot find the installer files. If anyone knows of any other way to convert them, tell me. I need to be able to open them in iMovie '04 to edit them.

I've searched these forums and tried a few converters but nothing seems to be good. I used to use visual hub which up until recently was okay. Untill i tried to convert the film office space which i have as a matroska file to an mp4 for my iPhone. The film wouldnt run well and was very laggy on the iPhone. I got handbrake and that works fine for converting the film and makes .mkv's run smooth on the iPhone when converted to mp4, the only problem is that the program crashes after a while usually after converting one film. to cut a long story short! can anyone suggest some more video converters i can try that will work well with snow leopard?

I am hoping to get a suggestion or two on a good program to convert video files. I have visual hub but no way to register it . My biggest concern is the conversion from .avi to mp4 and m4v for my ipod, iphone, and apple tv. I also use mac the ripper so I was hoping to find something else that can handle .vob files and have the option to stitch them together like you can in visual hub.

I am new to Macs and I used to have a program for my PC called Tunebite, which plays back audio files and video files back and copies them as whatever you want. Gets rid of copy protection stuff.

I am looking for the best converter for changing some .swf files into mp4's and even to convert those swf files into mp3 files for listening. I tried a few and they wouldn't convert swf files to mp4 files.
Bottom Line: I'm looking for an awesome ALL-IN-ONE file converter for the Mac that will convert most anything I throw at it. Does something like this exist? Free or not too expensive would be good too.

Looking to encode all my video DVDs etc, for my library. I have an Apple TV, PS3, iMac (2Ghz Core 2 Duo) and iPhone. I have been using Handbrake which is great, use the Apple TV preset which plays on all the devices listed I have. However I'm just wondering if there is a paid for, or free program that is faster or better in any respect for converting? I know H264 is CPU intensive, so is Handbrake going to be the best and fastest anyway?

I'm trying to convert some WMV files into a format iMovie will handle but what ever settings I use I only get the audio when I try and play the clips in either Quicktime or VLC and iMovie doesn't recognise the files as compatible. The clips are needed for a friend wedding in a week's time so I'm getting really frstrated/nervous!!

I'm a big handbrake user, but its very tedious to have to manually queue everything. Its just not practical when you've got 50+ files to do at once.
Does anyone know of a converter that just lets you bulk convert say an entire directory to h.264 from a bunch of different filetypes?

If you use YouTube and own a Mac, you need TubeTV! It's hard to find a layman's application that downloads and converts YouTube videos into a format your computer and iPod can easily play. All you do is copy the link, click the download button, and TubeTV instantly downloads and converts the video. Best of all, it's free; 100% freeware that's powerful, simple, and exactly what I needed. Get this App! I'll see how I like it over the next couple weeks, I'd def. be willing to donate to the developers of this app.

I been using iSquint, because it is the best free converter software I KNOW, but it doesn't convert the rmvb files, and I would love to watch Dexter on my HDTV via PS3. Can anyone please suggest an application compatible with rmvb?

What is the most versatile video converter for an Apple Mac running OSX? I have some videos that I want to put on an Archos AV500. The AV500 is a small portable video player with a 4" screen. Some of the videos were downloaded from the web. The videos are in a wide range of formats, many of which do not play on the Archos AV500. So I am looking for a video converter that is very versatile. Plus hopefully one that's also fast. Obviously a free one would be preferable to one that I have to pay for. I have tried ffmpegX and iSquint. But neither works with all files that I need to convert.

I've quickly searched around, and found too many options and no idea about the quality of each. One site has one list of ten "best" free video file converters, while another site has a completey different list of ten "best"!
So, I can't figure out what a good well-known, easy to use one is. I want to be able to convert random different types of video files into DVD-quality files to watch on my DVD player, and I want the quality to be good.

I'm trying to burn some DVDs. I first burned in Finder and found out the hard way that that makes terrible quality data disc DVDs. Then I tried on iDVD, and at first it said it would only take 3 hours to burn a 1 1/2 hour movie on Professional Quality, so I was happy. But as it was encoding, it jumped to 16+ hours! So I tried again with only high quality, and it still said 8 hours, and now after 10 hours is still encoding. So, I need something else that's faster. I also need something relatively easy to learn/use. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about kind of, but I really don't and I just barely figured iDVD out. I still want it to convert into DVD quality discs (and good quality - I just got a new HDTV and would even like to try burning HD or Blu-ray discs). And I need it to be free.
So, my needs are:
#1 - FAST
#2 - FREE
#3 - GOOD QUALITY CONVERSIONS
#4 - EASY TO LEARN/USE

get video recorded from my cell phone (motoroala Hint) imported into imovie so I can edit the video and merge clips. The file extension of the video file is .3g2 . Quicktime will play this video, but imovie apparently does not support it. I have found a number of different video apps by searching forums (iskysoft imedia converter, handbreak, mpeg streamclip, applemacsoft video converter) of which only iskysoft imedia converter does what I want to do. The only problem is the trial version does not convert audio and has "evaluation copy" imprinted into the video. The full version costs $50

I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

I'm looking for a easy-commanded software of iPod Video converter for Mac. I think it should convert audio and video files, such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, VOB, DivX, XviD, AAC, AV3, MP3, to the formats supported by Video iPod including MP4, M4A, MP3, MOV, etc within few steps and a few minutes. You know, sometimes you have to waste a lot of time to waiting for the entire conversion process without doing other things on your computer. Just now, I found one software just released this year by mp4converter.net at [URL] It seems ok, but does anyone have tried it yet? Give me some advice on its advantages and disadvantages.

I'm a Mac newbie. I switched from Windows a month ago. I need to covert some videos that are in the .WMV format to any (preferably, the best) iMovie 09' supported format. I searched for a mac video converter on google and this forum. All the software that turned up aren't free and the trial versions place watermarks, limit the time and mute the audio, etc.

I know that I will need to get a Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter and then run that output through a PC to TV Converter.
A converter like this one states that it only supports 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 display modes. If the converter is outputting a 1024x768 then I guess I'm going to have to stretch the screen and thus I will loose some quality, right?
