View 11 Replies View RelatedI currently own a JVC Everio GZ-MG130 hard disk camcorder. It records in .MOD files. I cannot view them in quicktime on my imac g3. I have tried opening them as is, and renaming them to .MPG and .MOV. I found that HandBrake will do the job, but I cannot find a PowerPC version for 10.4. 0.9.1 should work, but I cannot find the installer files. If anyone knows of any other way to convert them, tell me. I need to be able to open them in iMovie '04 to edit them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've searched these forums and tried a few converters but nothing seems to be good. I used to use visual hub which up until recently was okay. Untill i tried to convert the film office space which i have as a matroska file to an mp4 for my iPhone. The film wouldnt run well and was very laggy on the iPhone. I got handbrake and that works fine for converting the film and makes .mkv's run smooth on the iPhone when converted to mp4, the only problem is that the program crashes after a while usually after converting one film. to cut a long story short! can anyone suggest some more video converters i can try that will work well with snow leopard?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a video that is ".mov" and I cant use it in SonyVegas (Windows 7) cause it shows no Video (just audio) So I'm trying to convert it to other format that hopefully wont make it look like crap and that will work with SonyVegas . I try iSkysoft Video Converter and it works, but It loose too much quality , the original .mov is 2GB and the biggest better quality i can get with that app is like 400-500mb. I'm giving up, I've search youtube and google for hours in the last 3 days without any success of making the .mov to work on sonyvegas or converting it, that's why i decided maybe someone in here can help me, I'm still kinda like a noob on MAC OS X

My biggest concern is the conversion from .avi to mp4 and m4v for my ipod, iphone, and apple tv. I also use mac the ripper so I was hoping to find something else that can handle .vob files and have the option to stitch them together like you can in visual hub.

Looking to encode all my video DVDs etc, for my library. I have an Apple TV, PS3, iMac (2Ghz Core 2 Duo) and iPhone. I have been using Handbrake which is great, use the Apple TV preset which plays on all the devices listed I have. However I'm just wondering if there is a paid for, or free program that is faster or better in any respect for converting? I know H264 is CPU intensive, so is Handbrake going to be the best and fastest anyway?

The AV500 is a small portable video player with a 4" screen. Some of the videos were downloaded from the web. The videos are in a wide range of formats, many of which do not play on the Archos AV500. So I am looking for a video converter that is very versatile. Plus hopefully one that's also fast. Obviously a free one would be preferable to one that I have to pay for. so i have some bike racing videos that im trying to burn using iDVD but the files are a little to large for single layer. the files are varying in size from 1.1-1.6 gig in AVI video format. when i just drag one of the files into a project its says its to large and when opening up project manger its been expanded to 6+ gigs and wont fit. so what can i do besides burning to dual layer dvd's, what program do i need or perhaps already have that can compress the video enough so that once dropped into iDVD it will fit on a single layer dvd. also am i going to be dropping the quality of the video so low that its not going to look good?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2GB m4v file that I wanted to use iDVD to create a movie for. But even taking it off of Best Performance and instead using High Quality, the movie is too large to be burned. It's showing it as a 4.81 GB project.
I'll admit my ignorance here...what gives? How does a 2GB file grow that large when being encoded as a DVD?
I've been trying for a few days now to get iDVD to save a disk image to my computer hard drive (since my Superdrive isn't here yet), but every time it'll crash at some random part of the encoding. The last time I tried it crashed within a few seconds, but last time it had encoded one of the three videos in my project before it crashed. It just "unexpectedly quits".
I've got a movie I'm exporting from FCE, just in the standard "Export to QuickTime Movie" option. The file looks fine (other than the fact that, when I watch it in QT, the aspect ratio is wrong). When I put it into iDVD and let it burn, the video just looks... weird. I'm not sure how to describe it, exactly, but it's just weird. I can't figure out what's wrong. Is it possible it's something in iDVDs conversion to MPEG-2?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs this possible? One of the apple techs told me no. I would have to change the menu to 4:3. I have 20 year old videos that I want to play in 4:3 because anytime it stretches the top gets cut down pretty bad. Yet I would love to keep the 16:9 menu screen (theme).
Another question what is best resolution to use when sending old movies (4:3 poor quality) from iMovie to iDVD? Medium? or Large?
What sucks is when I preview my video in iDVD everything looks right. Menu is 16:9 and when it plays the videos it's 4:3 ( for some reason with grey sidebars instead of black). It's just when I burn it to dvd and play on home widescreen tvs when the problems start. The menu is chopped off on a side and the videos are being stretched.
I put together a video of photos on imovie. I took it to iDVD and made a disc image. (My mac mini does not have a DVD drive, so I have to transfer the image to the PC and burn it to DVD there.) Once the final product is on DVD, I stick it in the DVD player... and.... the video is STRETCHED! (It's a widescreen TV...) The DVD looks good when played on a computer, but on our TV it looks stretched.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to burn some DVDs. I first burned in Finder and found out the hard way that that makes terrible quality data disc DVDs. Then I tried on iDVD, and at first it said it would only take 3 hours to burn a 1 1/2 hour movie on Professional Quality, so I was happy. But as it was encoding, it jumped to 16+ hours! So I tried again with only high quality, and it still said 8 hours, and now after 10 hours is still encoding. So, I need something else that's faster. I also need something relatively easy to learn/use. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about kind of, but I really don't and I just barely figured iDVD out. I still want it to convert into DVD quality discs (and good quality - I just got a new HDTV and would even like to try burning HD or Blu-ray discs). And I need it to be free.

get video recorded from my cell phone (motoroala Hint) imported into imovie so I can edit the video and merge clips. The file extension of the video file is .3g2 . Quicktime will play this video, but imovie apparently does not support it. I have found a number of different video apps by searching forums (iskysoft imedia converter, handbreak, mpeg streamclip, applemacsoft video converter) of which only iskysoft imedia converter does what I want to do. The only problem is the trial version does not convert audio and has "evaluation copy" imprinted into the video. The full version costs $50
