I have paused it, but it was about 3 minutes into a 10 minute download.
Does this mean that I have stopped the download and there will be no change to my computer?

May 16, 2012If I download a hjsplit file (a file split into multiple, consecutive parts .001, .002, .003, etc for recombination by the hjsplit program) safari tries to be clever, and adds a file extension of the file type, so instead of getting 3 files called:
x.001
x.002
x.003
I get something like
x.001.mp3
x.002.mp3
x.003.mp3
Presumably the website tells safari the filetype, but usually a browser allows me to override mime types like this. In firefox files are not renamed (so I know it is theoretically possible), whereas in safai they are, and therefore are no use to the hjsplit program until I manually rename them.
I think this is a webkit thing, since chrome does the same thing, whereas gecko browsers like firefox and camino do not.

I took the Gmail account offline in mail after the first 1000 messages or so. I went through all the Preferences options and menu option, but maybe I missed that setting.

Apr 12, 2012Says the software may have been tampered with or corrupted during download. I am NOT some computer hack, just a regular guy who bought a simple product to download and it doesn't work. Total BS and waste of my time. I'm not interested in saving my download to an ext HD, or partitioning my HD, or some other funky work-around. I want to know why this software will not load straight away as advertised? I have S/L, v 10.6.8 and the required RAM and disc space.

Feb 3, 2012i went and opened the app store application on my mac pro. i saw the app for downloading Lion 10.7.3. at present i have Lion 10.7.2. so i figured, well, i already purchased Lion, so this upgrade should be free - and i clicked install. it asked for my apple id and password. i entered it - and it began to download Lion 10.7.3.
only then i saw the price tag on the side and thought to myself, "$&#%, what if i'm being charged for this?" so i went and did my "softward update" check. low and behold, waiting for me is 10.7.3.
so here's where i'm at. i have 10.7.3. downloading as an app (potentially i'm PAYING for it!), and i have it "paused" right now. i want to simply install 10.7.3 as an update, which i KNOW IS FREE. but i can't seem to delete the download that's paused right now (which I might be PAYING for).

Apr 11, 2012I tried to insert a CD in my iMac but it didn't recognized it. The CD is now stuck in the device, and the iMac doesn't kno there's something.
It wont eject, because it thinks it's empty. I tried all the different technics to eject a CD : terminal commands, rebooting with the mouse click...
All those thigs didn't worked and the CD is still inside, the mac doesn't understand there's something. But the most annoying thing is that it keeps trying to eject it (or insert it I think) every 20s. So it make this annoying sound over and over, with no issue.
So is there a way to make it stop trying to insert it? Maybe kill the CD drive.

The only thing listed there is: Move focus to staus menus ^F8 I also do not see any way to remove the F8 association in any of the iTunes preferences.

Sep 8, 2014When I restart my mac it comes back up saying there is another computer with this name on the network ( the name it had when it was running before restart ) It renames itself adding 1 or 2 etc going up with each restart. I can drop the numbers on the name with later restarts. ( e.g. if it renames from 1 to 2 it can be reset to no number ) The computer is not on the network when it is just starting. The performance through the VPN is badly affected by the Airport scanning regularly; often the VPN hangs.
I have deleted the unnecessary wireless networks listed in the Advanced button under Network Preferences. However, the problem persists.
Can you advise how to either stop the scanning or stop it interfering with Internet connection?

This takes a long time and there is a reason I closed the applications when I logged out. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Also, every time I open up Quicktime, it also opens the past video's I had opened. This is also really annoying.
