OS X Mavericks :: How To Stop Display Of Installed Update In AppStore
Sep 3, 2014I installed the Mavericks 10.9.4 Update a couple of months ago, and it has reappeared in the App Store. I went ahead and reinstalled just in case there was a legitimate issue with my files, but the update continues to appear in the App Store updates section. Rebooting does nothing to change matters. How to shut off this message display?

Mar 16, 2012USB Tethering stop working (while WiFi and Bluetooth tethering continue to be ok) on Mac 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard fully updated) after my iPhone device has been updated from iOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.The present issue is not related to the iPhone (Personal Hotspot ok, Carrier/APN settings ok). Moreover, USB layer seems to be ok on Mac also due to the fact that iTunes recognizes it correctly. Network Services on Mac are instead affected. Steps to Reproduce:1. Remove 'iPhone device' from Network Preferences;2. Connect iPhone via USB cable to the Mac;3. May 10, 2012Started the 10.7.4 install, and it halted. Turned my Mac off, started it back up, and apparently the 10.7.4 update didn't install, but it has caused the Mail function to not work AT ALL - I get a long error report that is auto sent to Apple.
I downloaded Lion from the Apple store, but have my Snow Leopard disk. How do I go about re-installing Mail?

Mar 24, 2012"Software Update can't connect to the Update Server" - so I can't even check to see if updates are available.This has been going on for sometime. For a while if I created a new admin account and used that it would work, but not today.Tried creating a new admin account but to no avail.
I clcik on the Apple Icon, (top left hand side of screen), click on SOFTWARE UPDATE, it runs for a split second, then: [URL]after which I check my internet connect to see that it's fine. (And I attempt to run SU with nothing else using the internet). [URL] I've checked the forum and found a few people with the same problem. I've tried deleting PLISTs and using 008.008.008.008 DNS address, [URL], but still cannot get it to work. I still have my old G4 Power running OS 10.5.8 connected to the same modem (Netcomm NB6PLus4w Modem which has 4 ports) as my Mac Mini, and it runs Software Update without any issues. So it's not my internet connection and it's not the Apple server, so it's something about the Mac Mini that's not right.

"A network error has occurred. Check your Internet connection, and then try again."
This has been happening for over a week now. Looking at the Console I get the error:
"4/10/12 8:03:54.398 AM Software Update: Error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -3001.) (NSURLErrorDomain code -3001)"
I've verified and repiared disk permissions a couple of times and restarted the system with no success.

Feb 3, 2012i went and opened the app store application on my mac pro. i saw the app for downloading Lion 10.7.3. at present i have Lion 10.7.2. so i figured, well, i already purchased Lion, so this upgrade should be free - and i clicked install. it asked for my apple id and password. i entered it - and it began to download Lion 10.7.3.
only then i saw the price tag on the side and thought to myself, "$&#%, what if i'm being charged for this?" so i went and did my "softward update" check. low and behold, waiting for me is 10.7.3.
so here's where i'm at. i have 10.7.3. downloading as an app (potentially i'm PAYING for it!), and i have it "paused" right now. i want to simply install 10.7.3 as an update, which i KNOW IS FREE. but i can't seem to delete the download that's paused right now (which I might be PAYING for).

Apr 11, 2012I tried to insert a CD in my iMac but it didn't recognized it. The CD is now stuck in the device, and the iMac doesn't kno there's something.
It wont eject, because it thinks it's empty. I tried all the different technics to eject a CD : terminal commands, rebooting with the mouse click...
All those thigs didn't worked and the CD is still inside, the mac doesn't understand there's something. But the most annoying thing is that it keeps trying to eject it (or insert it I think) every 20s. So it make this annoying sound over and over, with no issue.
So is there a way to make it stop trying to insert it? Maybe kill the CD drive.

F8 is currently launching iTunes when I hit it and since I don't use iTunes on my work computer and need F8 for other functionality this is interfering with my workflow. I do not see any association with the F8 key in System Preferences > Keyboard Preference Pane > Keyboard Shortcuts. The only thing listed there is: Move focus to staus menus ^F8 I also do not see any way to remove the F8 association in any of the iTunes preferences.

Sep 8, 2014When I restart my mac it comes back up saying there is another computer with this name on the network ( the name it had when it was running before restart ) It renames itself adding 1 or 2 etc going up with each restart. I can drop the numbers on the name with later restarts. ( e.g. if it renames from 1 to 2 it can be reset to no number ) The computer is not on the network when it is just starting. Dec 31, 2009My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.

Mar 9, 2012Every time I log in to my account, all of the applications I previously had open start up automatically. This takes a long time and there is a reason I closed the applications when I logged out. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Also, every time I open up Quicktime, it also opens the past video's I had opened. This is also really annoying.
