OS X V10.7 :: Remove Office 2011 From Lion?

Apr 17, 2012

Used Migration Assistant to transfer stuff from old MB with Leopard to new MBP with Lion. It transferred Office 2011 which is fine, but one problem, I completely forgot that I used my last of the 3 software registration keys on the old MB.  Now I can't open Office 2011 because it keeps asking for a registration key.  So I though this would be as good of a time as any to try Pages and that's what I'm doing.  Now I want to delete all the MS stuff but I can't find an Uninstall file anywhere in any of the MS files.  Even if I do find an Uninstall file will it let me run that file without the software being registered on this computer? Do I need to remove all the MS stuff manually?

The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.

I'm sure there is a work around to this. I recently upgraded to a new iMac and when I insert my Microsoft program CD, it doesn't autorun. You can browse the file set but there isn't an apparent autorun launch that I can figure out. There is an autorun.inf file.

Intel Mac :: Forgot Password And Cannot Reinstall Office For 2008 Since Uploaded Free Office 2011

Apr 14, 2012

I forgot my administrator's password for my home computer.  I purchased office 2008 for mac with a free upgrade to office 2011.  I upgraded it to 2011 when it came out (late 2010/early 2011).  I have since made a new password and forgotten what it is. The mac tells me to reinstall my microsoft office but when I do, with the office 2008 disc, it tells me I have MORE RECENT SOFTWARE and to use that.  I did it on line and cannot find it again.

So I got Office 2011; it's pretty good stuff. Unlike Windows based systems, it did not remove Office 2008 which is different. I am wondering if there is any reason that I should or should not remove 2008 since I have 2011 (exact same programs).

Applications :: Office 2011 For Mac - Universal App?

Jul 7, 2010

So, Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac is in it's near-finished form (Beta 4) but it seems none of the last 4 Betas, or the Messenger Beta app seems to be able to run under PowerPC architecture, which sucks considering Microsoft bragged on allot about Office 2008 being a Universal app but now it seems like they want to abandon it completely. This is a terrible decision since I use a PowerPC mac and so does my school (They went crazy on iMacs and PowerMacs in early 2006). And I know you'd say to me why not just get a Mac mini, but I just can't afford one and my school would have to rework their whole server aswell as splash out. I love the new interface and icon designs for office but it seems it's time to switch to iWork. It doesn't seem right of MS to abandon PowerPC support in Messenger just for the sake of video chat, Skype, Yahoo!, AIM and others all still support this yet they are Universal and don't have any problems doing so.

Applications :: Get IWork Or Office Mac 2011?

Jul 28, 2010

Rumors are floating about of the imminent release of Apple's iWork '10. Also, Microsoft is saying Office:mac 2011 will be released near the end of the year. I go to a school that runs completely on PCs, and yes, completely running Office. This is going to be my sophomore year. On my Mac I currently run iWork '09. Over the past year I've grown to love it and its features, many of which are not available for Office. However, all of the documents my teachers send me are Office-based, and all of the papers I have to hand in online must be in Office format (.doc, .xls, .ppt). iWork can export as these formats, but it's a hassle. There's my backstory. Now here's my question for the good people of the MacRumors Forums. I love the features of iWork, but Office is SO much more compatible. When the new software gets released, should I get iWork '10 or Office:mac 2011? I like upgrades, so I'm going to get one. I was thinking about getting both, but that could be expensive, and as a student, I don't have much money. What would you do, and what do you think I should do?

Software :: Microsoft Office For Mac 2011 Sent To Manufacturing

Sep 10, 2010

Microsoft announced Friday that Office for Mac 2011 is now classified as "Release to Manufacturing." The software should be on track for release by the end of October as previously announced. The Mac Business Unit team at Microsoft published a celebratory post on their blog Friday announcing that they had "signed off on final testing" and sent the product to production. This latest release was two and a half years in the making, with team members in Redmond, Silicon Valley, Beijing, Dublin Tokyo. Office for Mac 2011 should be Microsoft's "best release yet," according to Product Unit Manager Geoff Price, who authored the post. Key features added include Outlook for Mac, co-authoring, ribbons, cloud-based storage, in-document photo editing.

Macworld reported earlier that online retailer Amazon had an Oct. 26 availability date listed on its website, but the release date has since been removed. Microsoft had announced in August that the product would ship by the end of October. Customers who purchase Office 2008 for Mac between Aug. 1, 2010 and Nov. 30, 2010 are eligible for a free upgrade. All other users will have to purchase the standalone versions. Prices start at $119 for the Home and Student version, which lacks Outlook, and $199 for the Home and Business version. An Academic version will also be offered to qualifying students and educators for $99. For more, see AppleInsider's previous coverage of Office for Mac 2011:

Software :: Microsoft To Launch Office For Mac 2011

Sep 28, 2010

Microsoft on Tuesday announced that it will launch Office for Mac 2011, the latest version of its top-selling software suite, on Oct. 26, with preorders now being taken. All versions of Office for Mac 2011 are now available for preorder from Amazon. They include the Home and Student Edition, Home and Business, and separate purchases of PowerPoint for Mac, Word for Mac and Excel for Mac. On the official Office for Mac 2011 blog, the company also released its last behind-the-scenes look at the development of the latest version of Office. The company highlighted the new "Dynamic Reorder" feature, which gives users the ability to interactively reorder all layers in a document or presentation. Office for Mac 2011 also includes a new "Full Screen" view that offers two perspectives optimized for writing and another for reading. Microsoft also said that the newest Office for Mac was developed with performance improvements a top priority. The team said they hope users appreciate the effort that went into it when they experience the launch speed of each application, as well as the overall speed of the suite. Office for Mac 2011 was sent to manufacturing earlier this month, and Amazon had previously listed the Oct. 26 date. However, Tuesday's announcement is the official confirmation of when it will launch. Applications :: Office For Mac 2011 - Positive Response

Sep 23, 2010

I've got the pleasure to get my hands on the retail version of Office 2011. Yes, it's the retail version, not beta. I know it's not being released for another month. I haven't had much time to play around with it as I got it today but so far, the experience has been nothing more but positive. The apps feel very responsive. Actually, it feels like I'm using Office in Windows Outlook seems to be pretty equal to the Windows version. I don't know what to test so please ask if you have anything on your mind that I could try. I've included a screenshot of every app, feel free to take a look!

Applications :: Office 2011 - Responding Very Slow On I7 MBP?

Nov 18, 2010

After finally buying my new 2.66GHz i7 MBP and a fresh copy of MS Office 2011, I was excited to finally have a copy of Office that performed quickly / speedily / comparable in speed to any new Windows machine I've ever used. Not so much. Every copy of Office for Mac I've had has been super slow. I'm talking 20 bounces (minimum) to open, pinwheel to do many functions, etc. Every copy of Office I've used on any Mac has had some degree of sluggishness.

I can't understand it! My bare bones Windows 7 computer (with much slower specs than my new i7) launches Office instantly, no lag, no problems! Why is Office plagued with speed issues? It's absolutely maddening. As a side note, I have always preferred the Windows version of Office to the Mac-skinned version MS gives us. I can't be alone here, can I? How does Office run on a hex-core Mac?

I just upgraded my Mac to Office 2011, which includes Remote Desktop Connection (RDP). I know that I cannot connect TO a Windows Vista Home Premium computer from the Mac, but according to the MS help files, I can connect from Vista Home Premium to the Mac. I'm running both computers on the same wireless network, yet the Vista machine cannot connect to the Mac....can't even ping the Mac IP, as a matter of fact. The IPv4 addresses that show are the router IPs (from ipconfig), and they of course begin 192.168.xxx.xxx.
