If there's a pdf file within a website, when I follow the link all I get is a blank, black screen. I have reloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader but that hasn't helped. I'm running 10.6.8 on an older Macbook Pro.

I used to use Preview to view PDF files but found the files didn't display properly, in particular the annotations, so I installed Adobe Reader & the files displayed properly. Lately though the files have changed & open in Safari through a plugin, which doesn't display properly & don't give the option to open in Adobe Reader. I have deleted Adobe Reader & re-installed, but it is a long process to get it to open in Adobe Reader. Â How do I disable the plugins & get PDF files to open directly in Adobe Reader?

how do i view PDF files in safari 5.1.7?
View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing Safari Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2) on OS X 10.6.8 (Macbook Air) when I click a PDF link, it is downloaded and then I need to double click to open in Preview. However, if I use the nightly build of WebKit [URL] - currently Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2, r121825)” it is opened in the same tab within the browser. I do not have Adobe Reader/Acrobat installed thus do not have the Adobe plugins in the "Internet Plugins" folder (system or user). Does the production build of Safari not have a built-in PDF viewer? Or maybe there is another reason...

I noticed that finder is not displaying all files when I look at folders with lots of files in "icon view" mode but they do show up in "list view" Same thing happened with the computer at work. I'm using OS X Leopard on both.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Safari won't open PDFs. Not sure if I can download them but PDFs that are supposed to open with a script (for example, can't just open in a new tab) do not open. Nothing happens. It won't even auto download or anything.Just tried Chrome and it downloaded just fine off the same web page.
Can display PDFs just fine if going directly to PDF link, but it definitely doesn't open with script based ones

I can't view pdf files from my iMac anymore. I tried it with 3 different browsers-Safari, Frefox, and Camino and it made no difference except that with Safari I got a black webpage and with the others just a blank page. I uninstalled Adobe Reader and reinstalled it it but that didn't help. I've enable cookies on all the browsers.

I have previously had no trouble viewing pdf files from various websites, however am now unable to. It appears to be loading and then just comes up with a blank screen. I am able to view pdf files which have been emailed without problem. I have removed Acrobat Reader & reloaded but this has not helped. I am able to view pdfs on our laptop & ipad and the settings appear to be the same.Â

I recently had an external 500 gig Western Digital that stopped working. I took to store and had them transfer the data onto a new external portable hard drive (1.5 gig). At store they hooked up to Mac Book and showed me the files in the itunes folder, however when I connect the drive at home to my imac running tiger 10.4.6 none of the files are visible in the itunes folder.
All the other backup files are fine. And when I right click on iTunes folder >Get Info. It says zero kb in the folder. However I know the files are there because itunes is working and playing them fine. And when I search for a band and open the folder of say "pearl jam" folder it then magically shows just those sub folder for that group in the itunes folder. It seems that the files are definitely there I just can't view them.

I have an older MBP (2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD) and am having problems with PDF files. Well, I guess it would be better described as annoyances with PDF files. I use Adobe Reader and the lag when scrolling is unbearable. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Can anyone suggest alternate programs that may remedy my problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSince I installed Adobe Reader X, I cannot view pdf files in safari. If I click on a .pdf file on my hard drive, it will open up with Preview and I can view it. But before I used to be able to see pdf files in the safari browser. But now the browser is black and the url references a pdf file.

I typically update all of the software that I have been notified of an available update. I think I recently updated safari and adobe reader. I don't know if they caused the issue but I can't view pdf's in safari anymore. I can download the file and view it directly in Adobe Reader though.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedMost of the time when I download a file or unzip a file, the resulting file gets placed behind an existing one. Like instead of the file being placed in the next open spot, it ends up where another file is, making it seemingly disappear. I then have to look through the entire folder to find it and put it in an empty spot. This occurs when in icon view only, and is VERY annoying! What is happening here and how do I fix it? I'm using 10.6.2 on a June '09 MBP. This has been happening for a while now but I don't remember if this was occurring pre Snow Leopard too.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWell I want to look at my children's files but when I try it says that I don't have permission too look at them! I mean what more permission do you need then to be an Administrator?! Do I need to have Root access or something?!?!!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpon upgrading to Lion, I can no longer view pdf files unless downloaded and then opened. When attempting to view pdf files in Safari all I get is a black screen. I am able to download most files and then view, but some sites don't have that option.
Another issue that I can't seem to fix and I think first appeared with Snow Leopard is that whenever I open Safari I get a message about my version of Safari doesn't support Community Toolbar although have upgraded my browser whenever a new version is availalbe.
