I am unable to send mail from my imac using apple mail. I keep getting told I am not connected to internet and my accounts keep getting taken offline.

After many years of good service my Apple Mail has suddenly become very picky. For a week or two new messages have been dispatched to my outbox to "try later" thence to "whoosh" away when it felt like it. Lately it has become downright nasty, refusing to "send" at all. Connection check tells me "cannot connect to SMTP". A call to my ISP verified all settings were correct. Tried changing password -nothing worked. ISP tells me fault is with Apple Mail. Incoming mail is O.K.

I currently have my Retail Snow Leopard disc on a USB stick for installs and I was wondering if there was a way to get the 10.6.3 Update applied to the USB stick so I don't have to keep running it after every install.

I don't know much about the Snow Leopard Server OS and I was wondering if I should stick with regular Snow Leopard. I'm only using the Mac Mini for HTPC and streaming media to my iPhone and iPad.

I obviously didn't choose my words correctly because everyone would rather pick apart what I said and did rather than acknowledging that...Apple sent me a scratched Snow Leopard disc. These things do happen so make sure you always backup your data and always check the disc before you put it in your computer. Even if its from a company you love and trust.
View 24 Replies View RelatedJust installed Snow two days ago. Runs great, so far. As of today, when I try to send mail from Mac Mail, something strange happens every so often.
I get a message saying it can't send the message because the SMTP options have not been set. They are in fact set, and Mail has been functioning normally until installing Snow.
Anyone having this problem, and how did you fix? All my server settings are in place so I'm not sure what else to change.
One of my accounts in Mail is permanently showing SMTP offline. How do I correct this?I cannot send mail!

A clean installation took about 13 minutes from start to finish, which is a world of difference from the hour or so that a clean 10.5 Leopard install takes. Other then the time involved, there are very few differences between the 10.5 and 10.6 installation processes at this time.Once you're up and running, it feels very similar to Leopard. I don't know how much this will change through Snow Leopard's development, but don't expect a terribly different interface. The subtle changes to the current Aqua definitely look good though.
View 24 Replies View Relatedthis will sound random but the 35 new desktop pictures that were leaked from snow leopard are not entirely there on my recently upgraded computer.notably, camo and the graffiti stuff. i just want to make sure my install didnt get boned and i am missing other more important things.

How do I send emails to several people?

I'm suddenly unable to send an email. For no apparent reason, I now get the message:
"The SMTP server “smtp.me.com” rejected the password for user “jt0229” Enter your password again or cancel."
I don't even know what this password is. From what I can tell, it's not the same pw as for "me.com".
I am able to receive email and get on the Internet, but I cannot send emails. I have had the problem in the past but it resolved itself. I called my provider and confirmed my settings are correct.

Sometimes I simply cannot open a new finder window. If I use Command-N or if I choose New Finder Window in the Finder menu, nothing happens. If I am using Command-N, I can see the File heading in the Finder menu bar highlighting, and then after a few seconds the highlight goes, but no window opens. Also, clicking on my Downloads icon in the dock, the dialog opens showing all the files, but if I then click on Open in Finder, the dialog closes but nothing happens. Now that I am writing this message, it all works again! That's what I mean by 'sometimes'. This issue can last for tens of minutes. Secndly, and this is still a problem, my finder Preferences do not stick. So for instance, I don't want to see an icon for my hard disk on the desktop, so I untick this in Finder preferences. The icon disappears. If I now re-start, then it comes back. The same happens for removing the empty trash warning and all of the other Finder Preference tick boxes.
Now, when the first problem of not being able to open a finder window suddenly stopped being a problem, the icon for the hard disk suddenly appeared on my desktop. So the two issues are linked. This has been going on intermittently for a few days. I have verified my disk, and repaired permissions.

I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard Version 10.6.8. Can't receive nor send email. I have two email addresses using ATT. One address works, the other doesn't. The bad address is behaving weirdly: In Mail, in the "On My Mac" folder labeled "Recovered Messages," the contents refer to one email sent with a PDF file (19.7 MB). This email keeps cloning itself, and I keep deleting them. I resorted to deleting the PDF file from my computer. No luck. I recently changed my email addresses from AOL addresses to ATT (powered by Yahoo) addresses, in case this has anything to do with it. Have shut down computer and modem twice with no luck. The Mail Activity window is wild with activity, none of which I understand.

Using snow leopard, I have a recent problem. When trying to view a pdf file in safari, I get the message to upgrade to the latest version of adobe but I do have the latest version.
I have tried to send the plugin to trash as suggeted here but still no luck.
All of a sudden Mail won't send - it's freezing, and then finally asks for my password. Once I input the password (which hasn't changed), it sends. It's a gmail acct set up as IMAP.
