OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How To Reset Profile

Jun 5, 2012

My boys have recently altered their profile to the point that I simply need to start from scratch and reset or delete it all together.  How do I go about fixing their profile/ resetting or deleting it to start over.  None of their icons show up, someone has moved the My applications folder, Documents, and Downloads folders onto the dock and I am unable to change or remove them.  We are currently running on Snow Leopard.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Move Profile Data To New Profile?

Apr 5, 2012

my system fonts are jacked up and fill in lines in Safari are not readable as the text is bigger than the fil in window. Also my laptop is running harder, hotter and the battery life is less than half of what it should be. I also get text overlap line to line sometimes in Safari.

I have restored my OS with a clean install and then recovered my profile from Time Machine, this is how I discovered its my profile. I added a clean profile the first time I rebuilt the mac and it ran much faster, with less hardware usage and longer battery life. Once I began to recover my profile the system was same as always slow with Safari issues mentionee earlier. I switched to the temp user account profile and the system is fast no Safari issues and less intensive activity going on, battery life good etc.

If I rebuild the mac again I am not able to recover the profile/account without issues, I would like to move just what I need to a new profile/account from Time Machine but it doesn't allow access to the original admin account for a selective restore. I would like to be much more granular about the restore and just move my documents and such. I don't want to recover the applications or application data at this point as I don't need it. I would rather re-install just the apps I need at this time. Other option would be to clean my account/profile so that it runs as it should or move everything I want (mostly documents)  to a new profile for improved use.

Applications :: Color Profile Chioces In Image Capture Or Other In Mac Osx Snow Leopard?

Oct 31, 2010

I tried image capture combined with newly downloaded snowleopard drivers for my epson perfection 4490 scanner. Does image capture or other app built into snowleopard have color profile choices? I did not see any color profile options in the details view of image capture. All I see are millions or billions of color for the color options.

I use AdobeRGB & sRGB color profiles for my scans.

OS X Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Profile Manager Does Not Authenticate On Client Machines

May 14, 2012

Im having problem problems all over Lion Server. I can't manage Profile Manager on client machines..nothing authenticates. So I thought I would rebuild the Open Directory replica functions....however in recreating an Open Directory I get an error.

"Cannot replicate a directory with augment user records. Your server cannot become a replica of 'server.com' because its directory contains augment user records. Please refer to the Open Directory Administration Guide for more information about this issue."

How do I get rid of the augment users records? By the way..I set this server up per Lynda Lion Server essential training. Part of the server functions with File Sharing and users accessing folders..but Profile Manager does not authenticate on client machines.

OS X :: Factory Reset - Leopard To Snow Leopard

Feb 25, 2010

I am selling my 2 year old iMac. It came installed with Leopard 10.5, and I have the original DVD's. I recently (about a month ago), upgraded it to Snow Leopard. I was looking at this site: [URL] To get some ideas on how I can completely reset the system, to almost a factory install. Would I have to follow the steps to a full system install of Leopard, and then install Snow Leopard upgrade? Or can I use the Snow Leopard disk, to directly install that version as the clean install? At the end of the process, I would love to leave the system as "new" as possible.

Jun 21, 2012

I have about 20 imacs that we are doing a restore on.. my problem is that I have only 2 copies of the Applications DVD and System DVDs... I'd like to bundle a copy of each with each computer when I resell them.. but the Applications DVD is 4.75gb and is too big to fit on a standard DVD using Disk Copy.  Is this software online available for download? Or is there a way to make copies of the System and Applications DVDs?

MacBook :: Upgrade To Snow Leopard - Password Reset?

Sep 9, 2009

I took my laptop in to a shop to have a new hard drive installed and the guy in the shop upgraded me to Snow Leopard. I then tried to use migration assistant to get my files back off an external HD and it's telling me my password and/or user name is incorrect. Is it possible the guy in the shop changed it? Is there a generic password when you reinstall things? Or do I need to restart my Macbook using the old Leopard disk?

I have erased com.apple.finder.plist and just for fun the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist but can not get the finder to go to a true default. Is there another plist that I am missing?

OS X :: Attempted To Reset The PRAM On Macpro Running Snow Leopard?

Sep 11, 2009

I attempted to reset the PRAM on my macpro running snow leopard this morning, by rebooting and holding cmd-option-p-r until the apple logo appeared, at which point I released and then machine then rebooted a second time. I went back to the computer about an hour later and it was stuck on the apple logo screen, with no sounds coming from the CPU. I did a hard reboot by holding down the power key and it started up fine. I've never reset the pram before and so I didn't know what I should expect as far as the process being successful, but after an hour stuck on the apple logo I figured it got stuck on something.

MacBook :: Reset Macbook And Now I Can't Re-install Snow Leopard

May 4, 2012

My mom bought me a late 2009 white Macbook three weeks ago. It was working fine the first few days until I decided to purchase Lion and then two days later it crashed and I had to erase the hard drive and reinstall everything. It took me about a day to fix and reinstall everything, but this time I didn't install Lion. A week later my computer crashed again and I tried to erase the hard drive again and re install Snow Leopard, but this time nothing will install. I'm trying to avoid the hour drive to the closests Apple Store, so if anybody knows how I could fix this it would be great! I'm desperate at this point :/
