OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Crashing Photoshop CS5 When Opening Files?

Apr 8, 2012

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and CS5.5 about three weeks ago. All was working fine and then two days ago Photoshop stopped opening files. The Adobe crash report indicated that it's an Apple bug on file save/open, and when I did some research on the internet it indicated that (even from back i 2009) this is known bug.

Applications :: Photoshop Stopped Opening Up And Crashing Immediately

Nov 3, 2006

I'm using an iMac(seen in sig.) and I had installed Photoshop, and while of course a little slow due to Rosetta it worked. Then maybe a week ago, it just seemed to stop opening up and crashing immediately. I'm running OSX 10.4.8, everything is properly updated and I've reinstalled photoshop a few times to no avial. The problem didn't seem to occur after any change, I might have just not noticed it though.

OS X Mavericks :: Photoshop Throws Up Strtable Error Screens On Opening Files?

Sep 1, 2014

Opening CC2014 Photoshop files keeps throwing up error screens warning of a 'strtable error'.

Having just moved to the new MBP and at the same time upgrading to CC2014 means I'm not even clear on whether the file issue is an Adobe or Apple message.

Clicking 'OK' on the warning screen allows the file to open seemingly without problems, but it obviously doesn't promote a relaxed attitude to file integrity.

I've read suggestions that the issue is related to files having the wrong extension, but that's not the case here. Some of the files are legacy files from CS Photoshop; but many are created in the last few days by the same CC2014 PS app that's trying to open them.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Photoshop CS And Acrobat 6.0 Stopped Working In Snow Leopard?

Mar 25, 2012

"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard).  Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade.  I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled:  "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly".  This is the full error message:

OS X :: Photoshop CS3 With Snow Leopard

Aug 30, 2009

Apparently Adobe have not officially tested CS3 with Snow Leopard although unofficially they have and acknowledge some problems. They do not acknowledge (officially) the crashes experienced by David Pogue of the New York Times (but claim to be working with him per the John Nash blog at Adobe). I paid over $600 for PS CS3 a little less than 2 years ago. I think that's a premium that deserves support and not be railroaded into a $200 upgrade to a version of PS CSn that I don't need. Anyone else use Photoshop CS3 and not want to be forced into CS4 by Adobe?

OS X :: Snow Leopard Making Photoshop Items Lighter?

Sep 9, 2009

Here's two screenshots of my Desktop.
1) Leopard
2) Snow Leopard

Is it just me, or is some of the icons such as Aperture, Nikon, Tweet, and Phone View in the Snow Leopard lighter vs the other icons in the Snow Leopard and all the icons in the Leopard screenshot? I edited these in Snow Leopard and Leopard and it seems the icons done in SL are lighter than the ones in Leopard. Am I seeing stuff or is it really lighter vs the others?

Software :: Snow Leopard Restarted While Running Photoshop?

Aug 30, 2009

I'm new to this forum, mostly because I've had such ease of use with macs over the years that I've had to search support forums. But with Snow Leopard less than 24 hours old, I've had my system "crash" 3 seperate times.

While running Photoshop CS2, the system will lock up. After a few seconds the system moves to a solid blue screen and then restarts the OS. It's almost like all programs running, including Finder are forced quit. There is "bong" over the system starting up or anything.

To clarify, I'm running a brand Mac Mini, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. At the time of the crash I had nothing more than iTunes and PS CS2 running. During each crash I was doing simple tasks, a color selection, opening an effects panel and opening a very small smart object.

Also to note, I downloaded Safari 4 months ago when it was still in beta, and had no problems. The Safari that comes packaged with Snow Leopard is extremly sluggish and has forced me to use FireFox.

Mac Pro :: Newly Created Photoshop Images Missing In Snow Leopard

Apr 15, 2012

Ever since installing Snow Leopard, whenever I create a new image in Photoshop and save it to a file, and then I go into that file to look for it, it is missing. The only way I can find the file is if I enter the name of the image in the finder window and do a search - then it says that the image is in the image folder - where I put it - but when I go there, it isn't there. So the only way to find and then open that newly created image, is to remember what I called it, and then enter it's name in the finder serach window. The other problem that I notice with Snow Leopard is that the newly created icon images in finder are all blurry. The blurriness seems to be random. Some are, some are not.

OS X :: Crashing Under Snow Leopard

Sep 3, 2009

I got my eagerly awaited copy of Snow Leopard last Friday and so far am totally and utterly disappointed. I dont know if its just me these things keep happening to but, the desktop picture doesn't appear for about 5 mins after its turned on (even though the pictures are stored locally) No big deal really but things like Photoshop keeps crashing when I try and save a PNG file I have created, Chronosync keeps crashing when choosing a folder to back up to. Basically lots of little glitches causing a screen to come up saying the program has been shut down and do I want to send an error report. Is this just me its happening to, everything I have read seems to be praising the new release but Im finding more problems and considering going backward. I know this is quite generalised but I dont know if its just my MacBook Pro or not.

OS X :: Snow Leopard Keeps Crashing

Dec 29, 2009

My computer used to run fine on Leopard, then i installed snow leopard and it constantly has moments where it crashes all the time. It basically shows that wheel on any application (a usual suspect would be Firefox, which i've never had trouble with before) for maybe 30 seconds and then goes back to normal for another few minutes or it freezes on an application and it needs force quitting to get it working again. I can go whole sessions without this happening then other times i'll turn it on and it won't stop crashing like that. I'm on the 10.6.2 update version.

I have had intermittent crashes of Chrome, but now and experiencing more frequent application crashes with everything from Mail to TextEdit. textEdit is now very weird - when I open it opens with my last doc, but I cannot Save it or do almost anything without it crashing. I also had the computer freeze with a blank blue screen when I came back to it the other day. In addition, now my computer will not go to sleep from a user login, but when I log out I can select sleep from the user login panel and that works.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: My Safari Keeps Crashing

Apr 20, 2012

My Safari has been crashing regularly for the last few days. It generally happens soon after waking up the computer from sleep, but also happens randomly after 10-30 minutes use (approx - I'm not really sure). I have been looking at various discussions and think perhaps it might be a trojan, but I am unsure if this is the case and if so, what I can do about it.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Mac Is Crashing Regularly

May 30, 2012

I am on the latest update of Snow Leopard. It seems that if I leave the computer to go to the screensaver automatically, chances are that it may crash. I haven't changed my energy saver preferences for months - so if it is related to that it's not something I've changed.Looking in system.log you see lots of messages at crash time of "received notification of WindowServer event port death".Apple, are you investigating? This looks to me to be a serious problem. One of my colleagues is experiencing something similar. I switched to using using a mac in 2007 and immediately found it to be a better machine in every way (usability, reliability, design) than my previous windows laptop. [code]

I actually have more problems with it now than I did before.

Software :: Mail App Crashing Under Snow Leopard?

Oct 24, 2009

I am using a MacBook Pro 4,1 with 2 Intel processors. I am running OS 10.6.1. Ever since I installed Snow Leopard, my Mail app has misbehaved. It crashes routinely whenever I add an attachment. It never did this under 10.5. It also crashes occasionally when I save an attachment. Sometimes it appears to have taken the attachment, but when the message is sent, the attachment is corrupted. I think the only app I am having trouble with is Mail, although I think that Safari has crashed sometimes when a PDF file was downloaded. The problem seems to be associated with Snow Leopard. Should I try to do a clean install of Snow Leopard?
