OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: MacBook Will Not Pair With IPhone
May 23, 2012Black MB running latest updated version of Snow Leopard, iPhone 4 running iOS5.1.1 (profile info below is outdated). I also have an non-G3 iPad that's running iOS5.1.1 and have no problem tethering it to the phone. I want to use the phone as a personal wifi hotspot occasionally for my computer but Bluetooth panel in System Preferences shows a red light and says that the iPhone, which it apparently can see, is not connected. I've tried deleting reference to the other in both devices and starting new connections. I got as far as having a connection code display on the MB that I was to type into the phone. As soon as I did so, the connection if there was one at the time broke. I've read a whole lot of threads where users have had problems with USB connection for tethering their computers, but not much about Bluetooth connectivity issues. I know that Bluetooth might not be the most stable product in Apple's inventory but I've had zero issues with the iPad, even when we're in the car and in areas where the cell signal is iffy. I need to be able to use the computer the same way for business.

Apr 6, 2012I have pictures and music literally buried in multiple old incremental backups on a Seagate external drive. These backups were from an old MacBook utilizing an unknown software. That backup was not used to restore to the new MacBook Pro, rather a more recent Time Capsule/Time Machine backup was utilized. I want to get selected old files (pictures and music) out of that Seagate and onto my new MacBook Pro. I'm presently utilizing Time Machine as the backup on a 2nd new external backup drive. Unfortunately, there were only a couple full backups done years ago on that old Mac and then countless incrementals were piled on top. I know that some of the data has made it to the new Mac by other means but it seems I need to do a file compare somehow to insure completeness. How do I get to these files since all of those incrementals has made it a chaotic mess? How do I compare and merge? First time posting.

Mar 16, 2012USB Tethering stop working (while WiFi and Bluetooth tethering continue to be ok) on Mac 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard fully updated) after my iPhone device has been updated from iOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.The present issue is not related to the iPhone (Personal Hotspot ok, Carrier/APN settings ok). Moreover, USB layer seems to be ok on Mac also due to the fact that iTunes recognizes it correctly. Network Services on Mac are instead affected. Steps to Reproduce:1. Remove 'iPhone device' from Network Preferences;2. Connect iPhone via USB cable to the Mac;3. A new 'iPhone device' does not appears while the /var/log/kernel.log says:[DGMTP_Drv.cpp][probe()][00103][ERRO] Current vid (0x05ac) and expected vid (0x04e8) is not matched Other interesting information preceding the mentioned above error on kernel.log are:kxld[com.apple.driver.AppleUSBEthernetHost]: The super class vtable '__ZTV20IOEthernetController' for vtable '__ZTV20AppleUSBEthernetHost' is out of date. I did it through icloud as it is the easiest way to download songs from my old library to the new one. I have songs from cd's that I burned to my iphone and itunes won't let me add those songs! why icloud did not download those songs, but now i'm trying to download the existing songs from my iphone to my itunes library and it won't let me! I also try to "manually sync music" but it tells me that it's going to delete all my music from my iphone and replace the music with the library in the new mac. If I do that, then I won't have the music from the cd's anymore!
