I have successfully created a script to resize images. Now, everytime I clik on a file or on a folder Automator runs that script and I get promped to select the file to resize. How do I stop or control this?

I just noticed today when i was trying to use this, did Snow leopard erase all my finder automator plugins? I used to beable to right click images on desktop and using automator menu rename and convert images but now its all gone.

Having a strange problem where an Automator file action to rename a file with a sequential number is only working one time. The second time a new file drops into the folder, nothing happens. If I edit the Automator File Action, change the number to a new higher number, it will work one more time, and then not again. The basic task is to rename a file with a new text and sequential number each time a file is dropped or saved to a folder. I am using a slide scanner, and the default image file that is saved is called 'untitled' each time. Having this work would let me automate the entire scanning process to one click...

I am trying to set up a folder action to do the following... When a file is added to the "images" folder a new dated subfolder would automatically be created, and the file would be moved to this new dated subfolder.
Here's what I have so far (which I'm sure is way off base)
1) Folder action receives files and folders added to "Images"
2) Filter finder items - Find files where ALL of the following is true: Kind is ANY
3) New Folder - Name is "_" Where: "Images"
4) Add Date or Time to Finder Item Names: Add Date to folder name
5) Move Finder Items: This is the step that I'm stuck on. I don't know how indicate the newly created folder in step 3
Another question I have is how to make automator check to see if there's already a subfolder with the current date and put the file in that subfolder instead of creating a new subfolder with a duplicate name.

Did an upgrade install from 10.5.8 to SL (MacPro early 2008, 8800 Nvidia). Didn't use the Mac for a couple of hours - when I came back I had a black screen and no way of reviving Mac (only forced shutdown via power button). this happened twice. Did never have a problem previously.

I then have to re-open them. I can't see a pattern but I mostly use Microsoft Office for Mac and it occurs when I am in the middle of a word or excel document. I have found no reference online to this sort of problem. I have not installed any other new software or hardware during this time.

Only a laserprinter is connected. Sometimes I can work for a few weeks without problem, but then the computer freezes. The computer sounds 3 monotone chimes in a row and repeats this, keyboard an mouse become inactive till I do a hard shutdown.Took the computer 2 times to the Apple store, they tested for a week but apparently nothing happened then.

For a while now, my Airport will randomly stop working when browsing the internet. What I mean by that is that when browsing the internet and then trying to open a new tab, it will not load the page I am trying to open. The Airport icon still shows that it is connected, but no pages are loading. I have tried multiple browsers to no avail. As well as restarting.
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all updates applied.
Safari crashes randomly, meaning that it sometimes is running in the beackground and I am not doing anything with it. It seems that this problem only exists since I have done the following changes: I updated the Adobe Flash Player and I downloaded and installed Minecraft for Mac (I did not play it, since I forgot it was not for free ^^).

Since installing Snow Leopard, I have noticed that my Mac will wake randomly. It does not happen all the time, but it does a lot. I have tried to reset the PRAM and it did not help. The "Wake for network access" option in Energy Saver is unchecked. Any ideas?

i tried to see if anyone was able to create something like this and i think that the automator script that i got only created a folder with /todays/ date. what i am hoping for is a script that will /constantly/ update the name of the folder to todays date. the reason i need this is that if i have one of these in my documents folder it allows me to easily see /when/ the last successful backup occurred on my external drives. it is a really nice comfort to see this easily and know quickly that the backup was successful.

I have set up an automator service that TAR's a folder into an archive for me and it works quite nicely. Idealy however, I would like to be able to highlight several folders, right click and have automator tar each folder into it's own TAR archive, but do it one by one.

I'm not 100% sure so I guess it would be a good time to verify, is there a problem with having the system try to TAR multiple folders at one time? If it is not a problem then I guess this discussion itself is pointless and I can simple right click on each folder and select "TAR Folder" and just wait until they're all finished. I would think that it would be ideal for the system to do each one individually and not try to do them all at one time.
I think it's the new text replacement stuff in Snow Leopard that's causing this 'problem'. Every time I type more than one capital using the Shift key, the other capitals are replaced by lower case letters. Now this is useful when you mistakenly started a sentence with two capitals, but I find it extremely annoying when I actually do need multiple capitals. And using caps lock all the time is annoying as well.
Is there a way to turn this off? I like the rest of the hole text replacement thing, and would like to keep that turned on. But I can't really find anything that has to do with 'accidental double capitals' or something like that.
I've installed windows 7 on my mackbook pro. When I login on windows the is an E: drive labled macintosh hd. It gives me read only access to every users directory.

I noticed about a week after installation when I went to use stoplight and it wouldn't let me because it was indexing. Now fast forward to today I still haven't fixed this problem because I never really needed to use it. So no I have the need, and I need to fix this problem. I set preferences to monthly, or turn it off - it doesn't matter I cannot change it from checking for updates constantly. Furthermore, once it's checked for updates I cannot dismiss the ones I do not need or want. It constantly asks me to install the updates even though I would have no use for them.
Apple wants cash to solve the problem. Since it began occurring after my last paid OS update, that's BS.

every 10 minutes in my log i see: com.apple.wikid.mailinglists mail:status = "list-updated" this is strange beause i DO NOT have mail activated, I do have webserver on but NO WIKIs are active. why would i still be getting this message? not sure if it's related but i've been experiencing random OS reboots after the memory page-file explodes and crashes. i'm getting ready to rebuild my system. don't know if it will fix my issues. been running this box fine for a year and only recently has it gotten whacky. maybe an update did it.
