Sep 14, 2007So I installed Adium and as part of the package it installed Growl. I've decided that I prefer not to use Adium so I dragged the application from my Applications folder to the Trash. My question is how do I remove Growl from my system? The icon is still showing up in System Preferences. This is one caveat I have over Windows. Apple should make an uninstaller to completely remove all necessary components.

ICloud :: MobileMe System Preference Hangs On
Feb 28, 2012I moved from MobileMe to iCloud on 2/27/12. My MobileMe preferences displayed a message reading: "Finishing move to iCloud ..." Seven hours later it was still there and I was unable to quit system preferences. I force quit System Preferences and am not sure whether there is going to be a problem. Has anyone who experienced this hanging of MobileMe preferences when moving to iCloud found there to be a problem using iCloud after force quitting?

Mar 27, 2012I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a MacMini Server. Just set up the computer up and am trying to get user accounts for all of my family members. I have set up two Admin accounts, and want to set up a standard account for my child utilizing Parental Controls. When I set up the user, there is no box to check that says "Enable Parental Controls" and there is not Parental Control Icon in the System Preferences>System tab next to the "Accounts" icon. I have updated the system software using "Software Update" and have no programs or apps installed that did not come with my server from Apple.

Apr 7, 2012Recently upgraded to Lion and activated/registered photostream in preferences on my Mac after migrating from mobile me to iCloud but the Photostream app is not showing up online. When I choose to share photos in iPhoto the images load into the photostream upload in iPhoto but nothing shows up in iCloud. Email, Calender and Contacts are working.Â

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: .plist Preference Files Getting Corrupt?
May 12, 2012I've come here because I searched for the names of these .plist files on the net and got no results whatsover - ZERO. Drive Genius 3 picks out the following .plist files as corrupt, on a fairly regular basis. When I delete them, they come back pretty quickly, and the first I hear about it is when DG3 points them out to me again - only days later:Â

I am not experiencing any strange behaviour that I could link to the presence of these files, I'm just curious at to where they orginate from and why they get picked up as possibly corrupt so quickly?Like I say a quick search on the net brings up nothing at all for the names of these files. Sometimes there are about 3 more - but they all have names that I cannot relate to any applications I have on the Mac?I had noticed some wierd looking preference files before when using MainMenu and seeing the list as it was processing the batch tasks - but never got round to investigating it properly.

Feb 7, 2012I just bought an ipad and it had icloud and when I attach the ipad to the macbook pro (running lion; up to date) it is not even recognizing that it is attached. I want to put the icloud on the macbook pro because it is not on there. When I go to system preferences and look for the icon for icloud it is not there. The instructions said that you have to go to system preferences and click on the icloud icon and follow the instructions but I show no icon.Â

OS X :: Snow Leopard And File Type Affiliations / "open With" Preference
Sep 8, 2009I use Comic Book Lover to read digital comics - these are .cbr and .cbz files, which are comic rar and zip archives, respectively. Pre-Snow Leopard, these were recognised by Comic Book Lover as Comic Book Lover files, complete with custom icons, icon previews, etc. I also use .rar and .zip files for archiving. When I installed Snow Leopard, it read all .cbr files as .rar files for Stuffit Expander, and .cbz as .zip files. I actually use UnRarX for rar file management, so using the Get Info box I changed all .rar files to use UnRarX, .cbr and .cbz to use Comic Book Lover, and .zip to use the standard Archive Utility.
Problem is Snow Leopard is not distinguishing between .rar and .zip and .cbr and .cbz. Once I've changed all .cbr and .cbz files to open with Comic Book Lover, all .rar and .zip files also get changed! Likewise if I set all .rar files to be opened with UnRarX, this changes all .cbr files! Clearly Snow Leopard is handling file types in a new way. Is there anyway around this, or am I going to have to pick one file type affiliation that would be most useful (say .cbr and .cbz opened with Comic Book Lover), and live with having to right-click on a .rar or .zip file to say "Open with..." UnRarX or Archive Utility?
OS X :: Snow Leopard Up To Date Page Not Working
Aug 22, 2009So I just got a MacBook from the Apple Online Store, and Im trying to fill out the Up To Date form for Snow Leopard, but it won't work. When I click on the link for people who got their Mac from a retail store t loads a page asking for my Serial Number etc.... If I click the link that says "If you purchased online" all I get is a log-in and that an empty shopping cart. Am I missing something? I really don't want to mail my form in.

OS X Yosemite :: System Prints PDF Files Very Slowly / About 50 Seconds Per Page Text Only Page

1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer – does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac – no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick – connected printer to PC using same USB cable – page starts printing in about 1 seconds – no problems.No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided. Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem – was unable – the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.
